Same with Italian accents, in Rome people speak it with a gorgeous accent and rhythm that literally gives me chills, whereas in Tuscany where the language originated it sounds harsh and unappealing.
The saying goes:
English is spat
French is spoken
Italian is sung
German is vomited.
German spoken softly is very beautiful, even whispery, and somehow when sung all the harsh consonants become softer, there are many lovely classical pieces sung in German, I know because I have sung them in choir.
Of course Italian is beautiful and so is church Latin to sing.
