Did an extension roof almost identical to this at the end of last summer, working for a mate who is a 35 year seasoned chippy (I'm a 15 year skilled labourer/handyman), and I wish I had seen this video beforehand!
Your attention to detail and care over the design/layout elements is phenomenal, really impressive, and a level of experience & knowledge "input" (and clear years of loving your craft) that I wish my mate still had!

I think these builders who make vids of their work put the others to shame. Your skill, technique, quality control, site safety and cleanliness is there for all to see. Not just the end result but the hidden stuff that is so hard to see unless you are on top of every stage. One single mistake and all those that don't have the confidence to broadcast will pile in! The fact that you do this means you'll always be up at the top of the trade and customers can engage you with confidence. Thank God for CZcams!

Trying to get all the joints bang on is so dependent on so many variables ie the sole plate being dead level the outside wall being real parallel with the existing wall the nominal timber sizes being all the same size and square generally nowadays from my experience u can’t have all of them things falling in to place ( especially the timber sizes) so it’s always a compromise on a drawing it works perfectly but in reality it rarely does so u compensate as all chippies do on site and make it work but for me u still can’t beat traditional roof construction so great tutorial

Hi Lennon I’m really pleased to see that young lads are still taking up the trades and not aiming for the next Mr Beast. Unfortunately our roofs come as part of the extensions/lofts we do so I wouldn’t be able to pin point when the next one is as yet. I’d be more than happy to help you out otherwise. All the best with your apprenticeship mate and thanks for watching. 👍🏻

No thats fine mate, in all honesty i knew it was a long shot but i thought it was worth a go. Due to the nature of my job its hard to get evidence for things like fitting a staircase, doing cut roofs etc.

What I suggest Lennon is keep and eye on our content so you know when we are doing a job you need evidence for in the future and give us another poke and we can see if we can get you some evidence mate no probs. Cheers Lennon

Send us a list a list of things that you need evidence for to our email that's in our bio please mate, I'll take a look and when we've got a job that's on that list I'll get in touch and you can join us for the day. How's that mate?
