My near neighbor and his son were bailing hay in the acre behind my house. The tractor was running and the baler was running and Randy, the son, said "I hear bag pipes!" He turned off the tractor to listen and sure enough it was me playing the pipes. He could hear it over all that noise.

My dad was in the 48 Highlanders of Canada during WW2. After he passed we found several photographs that he had kept. One of them was a picture of the 48 Highlanders leading the Canadian Army into Amsterdam.

My beloved husband, a now-retired librarian, spent many years as an amateur Highland Games athlete. I loved watching him compete, it was great to spend weekends hanging around big, strong men in kilts, and the fairs were always fun. I grew to love the bagpipes, and I want to have this song played at my funeral.

Funny you mention Norway and Germany. Our family is a blend of Scots-Irish and German. I did a DNA Test with MyHeritage and was blown away when it back with a 38% Norwegian/Scandinavian portion. It makes sense with Vikings invading Britain, but that it is such a large part is astonishing.
