Pretty sad cemetery! Holy cow, I was half expecting to see corpses rising up! -- Are you sure it's a goat sculpture? Looks like a ram. -- Haha, the CHUDs! (Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers!) -- Operational? "Now witness the firepower of this FULLY ARMED AND OPERATIONAL battle station!" -- It was very logical for you to see all that Vulcan stuff! -- Wow, I didn't used to be afraid of heights! I think I am now after looking down from that tower! -- Have a great day Adam!

The fountain sculpture of a man with the head of a ram sitting upright on a stone tree trunk reading a story to a group of other animals might not be a secret to Goth kids who gather around it for selfies. But for everyone else, what has come to be known as the Satanic Fountain is located in Five Points, and no one really knows the story behind it. It’s an odd choice for a sculpture in a city that is so heavily influenced with Baptist and religious heritage, which is what makes it such a unique spot. Rumors have circulated for years that the fountain was created based on dark urban legends from Birmingham, but all inquiries into the matter have led to dead ends-or have been denied by the artist. The goat represents satan tho....

I know my reply is literally a year old and I know others have answered your question. But they do a Halloween horror house every year. They have a live show going on while they play a movie on a huge wall and you can get food and stuff while you wait to go into the haunted slows furnace or the haunted trail they made right outside the factory. They also have sloss fest in the spring/summer where they have a concert festival. They hold independent shows as well and always have ghost tours and educational tours for schools. They don't have to decorate much for the haunted attractions either. 😂

Great video Adam, about those graves in the beginning that were falling apart. The reason they were collapsing is most graves back then didn't use concrete vaults in the ground like graves of today use. The vaults keep graves from caving in like those graves are doing.

Birmingham was known for many years as the "Pittsburg of the South" but like Pittsburg, PA, Birmingham lost it's steel industry to cheaper foreign imports among other things. including government regulations and an inability or reluctance of company owners to keep abreast of modern manufacturing methods.

You need to visit Meridian, MS. Birthplace of Jimmie Rodgers, Father of Country Music Museum. Dentzel Carousel is near the museum at Highland Park. Grave of the Gypsy Queen. Opera House, Weidman's Restaurant. Meridian is home to actress Sela Ward. Meridian was burned by Sherman in the War Between The States with the two railways destroyed only to be rebuilt by the Confederate States in 2 weeks. Temple Theater (I know how you love theaters). This is a phenomenal old theater. Went there many times growing up. They have a country music festival at the Temple every year with big name stars. Meridian is also home to names such as Paul Davis, Steve Forbet, and a composer favourite of mine Parker McGee - John Ford Coley, I would really like to see you tonight. Merrihope Antebellum Home, Lauderdale Springs.

I grew up near B'ham, though I haven't lived there since I joined the Navy at 18... I live in Indiana now. One thing about the Vulcan, that I don't know if you realized yet, the light that he used to hold up in the air... It would change colors from Red, to Green. Red if there had been a traffic fatality reported that day, and Green if no fatalities reported in B'ham.

you know one man's trash is another man's treasure, I found the first place you visited very intriguing, some of the many signs were referencing important events in human history or the Bible, is it all a little extreme? maybe... but if his neighbors that have to see if everyday are not bother by it, I don't think there is anything wrong with it! my personal motto...
"live simply, so that others may simply live"
the cemetery might have been built on unstable land, I use to work at a cemetery, i got creeped out and didn't last long, but I remember asking why some areas were in greater disrepair than others... and it all came down to the integrity of the ground! it is sad, but may not have been vandalism!

First time I have seen Sloss Furnace NOT on a paranormal program. ALL the major ghost hunters have been there. It's one of the most haunted places in America..... COOL seeing it "normally".

David Price Ours (UK) is the original though.. there's many places, particularly in New England with same name towns and cities..
Question is, is the US Birmingham as much of a crap hole as ours?

Parts of it are nice, and parts are not so nice. Like most cities here in the US.

I remember the old Vulcan from our family vacations in the 60's. we always seemed to pass through Birmingham on a hot summer afternoon. The statue on the hillside was about the only interesting thing I remember in the area, on our way from Wisconsin back to South Florida. Thanks for sharing.

The only National monument you visited this day was Dreamland, my friend. When I was in school at Alabama, Big John would look at ya when ya walked in the door and you either held up 1 finger or 2, meaning you wanted one or two slabs of ribs, no sides and Sunbeam white bread.
