I have prosopagnosia, or face blindness. This includes my own face. Who tf can say what it looks like? Not me, that's for sure.
That being said, I got a haircut the day before I started house sitting for my sister. I didn't realize there was a mirror at the end of the hall and scared the shit out of myself walking by, thinking someone had broken in. It was when I noticed the intruder was also grabbing their chest and frozen hunched over that I remembered... 'Oh yeah. I cut off 10 inches of hair. That's a mirror, and I am an embarrassment.'
So I cannot say I would be terribly bothered with significant changes to my face. But my brain is wonky and should not be considered in any study data in the topic. ;)

I recognize faces and voices very easily, but when I look in the mirror, I don’t feel any sense of familiarity or sense of self. It’s not because of insecurity or anything, but I don’t like looking at myself in the mirror for long because it actually creeps me out how much my reflection seems like a stranger to me. I wonder if you can have face blindness only towards yourself.

Always always get a second opinion! My mom had breast cancer and the first doctor wanted to do a double mastectomy the following week. Scared my mom to death! She came home and literally had a breakdown to my aunt. My aunt insisted she had a second opinion. The second doctor told her she had caught the cancer soon enough and they would only have to do a small procedure. Don’t let the bad doctors take advantage of your vulnerability! ❤ Take care everyone!

That's what I was thinking. You can still see swelling and bruising. All plastic surgery looks weird the first few weeks.

If you believe it's acceptable at one age, you can't judge anyone for any age doing it. It's purely cosmetic, and perfections is never achieved.
The bigger ears in those after photos aren’t a side effect of a face lift, but the result of a surgery that makes ears protude to give the appearence of being bigger. It’s becoming a trend in East Asia to have big ears (through surgery or other avenues) because it makes the face look smaller in comparison and, overall, it gives you a youthful appearence (since kids’ ears are usually like that). So yup, not an accident or an unwanted outcome. It’s totally intentional.

But ears grow as we age. That's why the elderly have sometimes comically huge ears. Why would people want that early???
The trend is not to make the earlobes protrude, it is to make the top of ears stick out, giving an elven appearance. I am only familiar with it being popular in China, and Dr. Kim is in South Korea. It's unrealistic to think that every single one of these older Korean women coincidentally wanted their earlobes to stick out 45° because it is trending on Douyin 😆
I am certain it's an unintended result of the surgery. Even a "normal" facelift can distort the appearance of the ears, sometimes requiring further surgery to correct later. The way the ears are affected depends on the surgeon's techniques. Dr. Kim specializes in these extreme facelifts and it makes sense that whatever measures he takes to get these drastic results is causing the earlobes to stick out in a more dramatic way than a typical facelift would.
It doesn't look good but I do believe these women are genuinely quite happy with the results... They know what to expect when they go to him.

Ghost surgeons are a huge thing in Korea. Sometimes they put you under while the “face” or “personality” of the practice is in the room, and then once you’re ko’d a different surgeon comes to work on you.
They don’t look happy it’s the surgeon’s work that gives them a perma smile. A lá Joker.
The way the eyes are stretched out so far on the outside that you can see the outside of the eyeball CAN'T BE COMFORTABLE. Your eyes would always be dry!
I gotta say, I don't see this as any worse as face lifts we see if the west...particularly of 10 years ago. Maybe it cause I've got my vids set at 144dpi!!🤣😭

I don’t think the point of cosmetic surgery is to “look as young as possible”. It’s generally done to look younger than you are, but not as young as possible. Most people don’t want to look like they did when they were 10.

According to another plastic surgeon the way they are doing it( like the location of sutures and such) can create more visible scarring.
This is horrifying. I can’t imagine the psychological effects of looking at yourself in the mirror and not recognizing the person staring back at you

That's actually WHY some people do it. Roseanne Barr stated she got plastic surgery to change her appearance because each year she looked more and more like her super abusive father. She didn't want to look related to him anymore.
They wouldn't have got it in the first place if they didn't want to look different, so not so psychologically horrible. Actually there could be psychological improvement, and ppl feel they don't recognize themselves til after they do get surgery.

I recently got a breast reduction and when I first met my surgeon I just had the best feeling. For one, my surgeon was a woman and approached everything with a great deal empathy. She even helped me find bras that fit correctly because I was in a bra three cups smaller than I needed and she wanted me to be comfortable before surgery. I'm seven weeks post surgery now and the results are absolutely amazing and my follow up appointment was just pure joy.
Ive been bery interested in a breast reduction. I heal horribly from surgery though :/
@@MackenzieNerdyEMT honestly it's so worth it. My scars are, according to my surgeon, at the worst part of the healing stage but even if they stayed this way forever i would still be happy. I feel like I got my body back!
@@rebeccaseymour5551 I'm a 38DDD but I'm also 5'2 so it makes my boobs seem soooo much bigger and the back pain is ridiculous. I'm glad to hear good results! Both my grandma's had breast reductions but this was a lonnggg time ago and the scarring was significant, they still didn't regret it though!

Would you mind sharing who your surgeon was or at least what state you had it done in? I have extremely asymmetrical breast due to a surgery I had at 15 to remove a lump and now I want to have surgery to correct that asymmetry (I'm an adult now lol)

I watched this movie one time about a company/surgeon that kept young girls from being in the sun and kept them indoors so that they had perfect skin and then rich people would pick a girl and then pay money for the company/surgeon to replace their face skin with the child’s face skin…that’s what this is giving. That’s not what he’s gonna look like. The face settles a LOT look at before and after face lifts and the mid process. They all kind of look like that afterwards and then their face shrinks down and looks normal and usually really good. (If they’re good doctors) but they kind of all look similar to that after facelifts.

This is horrific. He has done such an invasive blephoraplasty that these people are permanently maimed. There are nerves underneath all of this and pulling the alin away from the skull causes scarring on the inside as well and these ppl DO have neeve damage. There's no way that they don't
That's the most concerning part. Nerve damage. They also may need physical therapy for them to relearn to use their muscles correctly. It's their body and their own life choices but hopefully the doctors admit to the potential nerve damage that such heavy procedures can lead to before throwing them under the knife. These people inthe video likely also have some form of body dysmorphia or the trends of looking young and spry in Eastern asia are just too ingrained as well. "Beauty" means a whole lot more in some areas of the world and some of those places have generally one main templete of beauty. In Korea and much of Asia, youthful appearance is one of the main standards of beauty whether female or male. The general standards of beauty also usually include pale skin(likely the reason for the make-up in the after pics which in itself is very risky and can cause bacterial infection), small-sized mouths, large eyes, removal of monolids, and dark hair. Many Eastern Asian nations also have very high suicide rates. Between the beauty standards and the pressure to be successful in Eastern Asia, it can get harsh on one's mental health. I hope the people in the video heal well and live happy healthy lives though.

They have been invasively surgically treated by this "doctor" and I'm concerned to know that they're all still alive to be frank. This is just SHOCKING and wrong on every level. My roommate is Chinese and she always watches Korean soap operas and the ladies (all of them!) in those shows look 12 but they’re having romantic affairs and whatnot so they’re not supposed to be children. It’s their beauty standard over there- gotta be super petite and look like a kid.

yep, really glaringly obvious after seeing 2 identical face shapes in a row, also no sign of bruising or any skin texture!
The after photos on most of these showed a completely different chin. Someone's pulling a fast one! And the idea that people risk eyelid paralysis (and possible blindness from not being able to blink) is horrific. I'll take my wrinkles and jowls any day over this extreme vanity! Maybe if we banished mirrors, the world would be a happier place.😬

Yup. Too scary. I care about beauty and youthfulness but... If you're face doesn't match your body in a smooth transition, things get very creepy.
About a year ago I was going to get breast implants despite all my life never being interested but suddenly I got the idea and I guess I got that “if I do this it will magically improve my entire life” sickness lol so I reached out to a clinic in Turkey and they were SO bad, they basically insulted me by telling me I also “needed” (their actual words) all these other procedures, they sent me before and after photos of patients that were supposedly done by this particular surgeon they assigned to me and I figured out that they weren’t even his work!!! how shady is that? surely also illegal but what do I know. my intuition kept telling me to back out but the “this will improve my whole ass life” thing was stronger somehow so I chose to ignore my intuition! I almost went ahead with it, I had a surgery date, paid a deposit and flights to Turkey but about a month prior I finally came to the conclusion that it didn’t feel right and I can’t keep ignoring that. so I cancelled, lost my money but avoided a ton of potential problems further down the line. the clinic is Vanity Estetiks in Istanbul btw in case anyone wants to know lol
That’s how they make their money even though one procedure alone is barely affordable for your average person.
I am one of those people who just wanna change the way I look…I don’t even know where to start, just that I know I’m nothing to look at and I’m tired of it. It started with wanting a nose job, wanting ass implants, wanting breast implants, and now I want that buccal fat removal procedure done too. I believe if I could afford plastic surgery I wouldn’t know where to start or finish.

Also a family member of mine had a facelift and people were SHOOK and saying she now looks like the Joker.
I've seen face-lifts look good, BUT there are 2 caveats to that. 1) going to a GOOD surgeon
2) having the right face shape to begin with. What I mean by that is , I've noticed some face shapes and features, phenotypes react well to augmentation and others simply do not.

I can just tell most of those people if not all will have endless issues for the remainder of their lives.
Their faces look like a wax mask. They look like how I imagine the androids will look when they try to make them look human. And I think their ears look like that because of how the surgeons pulls the skin for the face lifts.
Someone in the comments said the ears are also part of the procedure, that they make them bigger because it makes the face look smaller. But you put it so well with the wax mask analogy, it really does look like that

This point is the reason why I came to the comments. There's no way those two photos are 7 days apart. People who get surgery on their faces, their features continue changing over a long period of time. Because of swelling and all that. Right?
Not to mention the bruising and discoloration. I've seen people look worse just from an upper blepheroplasty, and these are just unreal results.

I feel like I'm gonna have nightmares now. All of these people looked perfectly lovely before, even if some of them were aging. And imagine going someplace or meeting somebody looking like THAT and then having them find out you are actually 50...it's just sad to me, there's no shame in getting older. (Jaime you made me die laughing as usual. That's the only facelift I need).

Overhead fluorescent lighting is used on the before and the after shots are the most favorable possible front lighting. This surgeon is making a clone army--they all have the same eye make-up and heart-shaped face afterwards, stretched appearance notwithstanding
yeah, some of them look like their facial bones were changed, which makes me favor the idea that the photos have a filter, on top of whatever facelift results they have

A lot of these are definitely fake or at least they have a very heavy filter afterward bc their whole features change in and also a facelift can't have such an effect on the shape of the mouth, it can only stretch the mouth like with the Spanish guy but it can't make your mouth corners curl upwards.

Reverse image search looks for the *exact same image* elsewhere online. It's especially helpful for discovering a picture usedby multiple catfishing accounts. Google not finding it just means that profile picture wasn't used anywhere else. As humans we can recognize that the picture is of the guy you found, but reverse image search doesn't have that ability.
Yeahhh, the guy used Tineye, which only finds exact images. I lol'd at that detective work. 😬 But Google Lens will find similar images and you can select a specific part to search for (like the face.) I use it to identify weird computer parts, random cables and such, just take a pic and use Lens to do the searching for me. Also helpful to ID plants and bugs so I know what the caterpillars destroying my bushes are going to turn into 🦋
I have successfully used it to search for myself, too. I had a stalker situation and someone was using my pictures to create profiles and mess with my friends. Most nerve wracking search I've ever done.
Also mirroring the image throws off reverse image searches.

@kellymay8208 omg dude I LOVE horror movies and Kevin Smith's comedy was a staple of my middle/highschool years. My partner doesn't really like horror movies but we thought Tusk would be a safe one because he also likes Kevin Smith. I have genuinely never felt just so yucky during/ after a movie as I did Tusk. My poor poor partner will never trust me to pick a safe horror movie again.
But yeah, these before and afters give me that same feeling. There's like a sadness in their eyes behind those, I can only describe them as masks. They don't look human anymore and it makes me feel weird.

I'm glad you got a second opinion on your surgery! I had to get a major surgery a few years ago and I traveled all over the east coast getting opinions! You always have to feel comfortable with your surgeon

My mom had plastic surgery without notice when I was a child. My dad picked me up from school without telling me why, but it turned out he wanted my help to sit with my mom when she came out of cosmetic surgery. It was silly, but I remember feeling almost betrayed and sad - and that was just a normal run-of-the-mill nose job and face lift. I feel bad for these people's children.
This is exactly what came to my mind.
It makes sense that you would feel betrayed. You had been looking at your mother's face since birth and all off a sudden a stranger was looking back at you. Idk how I'd feel about it.
I worked with a man whose mother once travelled abroad when he was six or seven and came back with much bigger boobs. It came as a shock to him.
I don't feel bad for the kids. Here's why. They need to learn that other ppls body's are other ppls bodies that they can modify if they wish.
That It is overstepping human rights to grow into an adult who wants to/attepts control what they don't agree with. As silly to high heaven as other ppl may modify their own bodies, mind your own body!
And that is exactly what I would teach my kid, and after, more nuanced convos about what is common such as nose jobs and that the decision process ppl have is usually lengthy, not jumped to like propaganda news may perpetuate.
And take the kids on trips that teach them how to discern their emotions, so they don't turn into emotionally taxed adults over sh*t that ain't their business, and instead care about changes we them to learn how to go about ushering into existence in society or their own life.
