    Thank You, My dealer wanted over a 1K to fix my leaks, I did what you showed to both sides, I went from the inside like you show, snaked a weed wacker (,95) gauge line through it until it came out the top, I pulled out the rubber end pieces washed them and I decided to drill the hole bigger inside of them, freaken awesome, they drain like brand new now,, thanks for sharing and saving me tons of money, it took me about hour and a half to do both sides by myself

    Thank you for this. Saved me a lot of investigating. Both my front tubes were clogged and the passenger side was so bad I had electrical issues with my radio. On the driver side, I actually found the tube come off at the top, so just had to pull down the headliner a little and reconnect it.
    Pouring a little water down the tube, sure flushed it and was able to confirm it was all good.

      @@Your-Self Forgot to mention. After I reinstalled the exit plug I poured water near the sunroof drain hole. I was expecting the water to drip behind the front tire. Instead it was dripping further down the side of the care, about 1/4 to 1/2 way under the driver's door. I checked that the exit plug was totally dry from inside and that the water I was seeing was indeed on the outside of the car and not the inside. I suspect the water was traveling along the chassis maybe?

    • @Your-Self
      @Your-Self  Před 3 lety

      As long as the interior of the car doesn't get wet anymore, you should be OK. Maybe the car was parked on an angle with the front end higher than the back.

    Great info. I notice my passenger A pillar wet at the bottom. I unfortunately got some electrical issues arise. You see I washed my car last night and noticed my rear passenger door window roll down automatically. I sense a short due to the water getting into the electricals. I will check my drains but I will use a shop vac and a high pressure compressor wand to blow out the drain ports. Your way is much thorough. I may have to remove the door sill and follow your steps. I just have too many things I have to repair. Thanks for video.

      Just be careful with the high-pressure compressor. You may accidentally dislodge the drain tube by applying too much air-flow and create an even bigger issue than you have right now.

  • @qq-hk2sq
    @qq-hk2sq Před 7 lety +1

    Don't forget about the drains in the rear, one exits ahead of the battery and the other in the same location on the driver's side. I switched the drain location on the right with the battery vent location because it flows straight through. The tube on the left goes in the passage next to it that should have a red plug in it.
    I don't believe the clips are supposed to stay on the panel. If you look closely you'll see that the panel retainers are in slots on the car and can be slid either left or right to release the panel, as one end on the insertion point on the panel is open to permit this. As for the grommets, I performed this repair about 3 weeks ago, only I removed the rubber molding on the inside of each grommet for a free flow, otherwise it's going to clog up again and for some of us that means starting up the car to find you're not going anywhere because stabilitrac, ABS and BUS communication have all but shut it down because water has made contact with plugs on the left and or right side of the dash.

    • @Your-Self
      @Your-Self  Před 7 lety

      ... Regarding those clips, yes, they could potentially slide, I just wanted to give DIYers an idea so they could proceed whichever way they want. To be honest with you I was able to clear the other (right) side without even removing that plastic panel. I pulled the carpeting a little and was able to stick my left hand and reach the drain tube to pull it out that way, but it was very, very tight.

    Good video, I LIKED it... but was wondering 1. where the rear tubes drained to and 2. would it be easier to blow some pressurized air through it?

    • @Your-Self
      @Your-Self  Před 6 lety +2

      REAR drain tubes drip on top of plastic wheel well cover and then water slides to the ground.
      You could blow out lines with the air compressor, but if the pressure is too high you may dislocate drain tubes and create much bigger
      problem which may require taking off headliner to fix... if pressure is too low it would be useless.
      Thanks for watching.

      1. If it was raining outside, or you went through a car wash then it's probably clogged up drain tubes from the roof.

    What about when you have a leak on the driver's side, which is noticeable when you turn (both right or left) as it drips onto your ankle over the acceleration pedal? Anybody have this issue. I'm guessing the weather seal around lower windshield might be bad. it looks uneven. This is my first 2009 CTS, after owning a 2010 Lincoln MKZ AWD for a few years. I have to say, as a GM guy, I'm really disappointed with the shoddy work and lack of features for these cars, compared to their rival Lincolns. I paid about the same for each, used, so I'm also very surprised that the seals especially on the Caddy are so prone to dryrot and generally weak. Leaking sunroof, wind noise, loud road noise, vibration noise in rear door, etc etc. Any tips and tricks for preventative or general maintenance on these CTS will be greatly appreciated!

    This will continue to clot (poor filter design) unless you drill out the filters in the nipples. I had to do this for both front and back sunroof drains. The rear nipples are accessible from the trunk.

    • @Your-Self
      @Your-Self  Před 3 lety

      Yep, it definitely helps to drill larger holes. But I think they designed nipples like that to prevent some insects from crawling up the tube and creating a nest. Or so that you have to take your car to a dealer for a service every time it gets wet, lol.

      If the water leaks during dry weather, it could be your AC condensate water drain clogged up.

      I'd try to narrow down the problem between the windshield and the drain tubes. On a dry day open the sunroof and pour a small bottle of water into one of the drain tubes. Observe if the water easily comes out on the bottom, or the pillar and the floor get wet. Repeat it for the second drain tube. If everything stays dry, it's probably a leaking windshield.
