I am late to comment but I just noticed something after watching your video.
Solid Snake's CQC mostly gets countered by Ocelot. It makes sense considering Ocelot has actually spent more time training CQC with Big Boss.
The moves that Snake had the most success with were his own variations like those high risk kicks that he had used in MGS1. Moves that were outside of Big Boss' repertoire and CQC syllabus.

I remember watching this fight scene in MGS4 when I first bought it back in 2008. I thought, “what an epic fight scene for the final battle between Solid Snake and Liquid Ocelot.” And it still is epic in 2020!!!!👍👍
Absolutely! MGS 4 felt like it could have been Kojima's last MGS game for sure. This fight scene alone shows the finality of the conflict that has happened over the course of all these games. Konami gave him all the funding he needed for MGS 4 and really allowed him to do what he wanted in terms of wrapping up the crazy story of the MGS saga. I wish it would get a re-release on PS4. It's a damn shame what happened with MGSV.

@@thebroham21 Honestly, I just want it on an updated console so the frame rate and picture quality can be better lol. I am always happy when a developer pushes the hardware to the limits, but those frame rate drops in MGS 4 are just too noticeable sometimes.

Some of the combos snake did was very risky like the spinning hook kick then a spinning side kick u really don't want to do combo a spinning kick with another spinning kick but great vid and fight

Most of those kicks can be either intercepted or evaded. It's all base on distance and counter probability.
It's risky done in the middle of a fight. A double spin would more than likely be used at the end of a match when the opponent was on his last legs. Except then it would not likely be a high spinning hook kick followed by a mid-level targeted turning side kick, but the reverse. The turning side kick would stop and motion of the opponent and set up the high-level opening for the spinning hook kick. As a Tae Kwon Do Black Belt, I'd be more likely to use a linear step-in lead side kick in place of the turning side kick. Done properly, it could duplicate the effect of the turning side kick without the risk.
it shows how skilled Snake is and also, Snake is pretty fast and strong because if you notice, Ocelot has some trouble parrying some of Snake's combos

I love the beginning of the fight trying to get the other guy on the ground cause the guy on top have the control then and I love how somewhat different varieties to take a person down fast but it also show that doing jumping kicks is very risky in a fight because ur opponent can just grapple u and get the control of the fight

Truly, they need to bring it to new consoles. It would take a while though because it was coded specifically for the PS3, which had weird hardware compared to today's

I think Snake could do the double cross to elbow combo because he's using strength and speed as well as mind games to pressure Ocelot because notice Snake starts with a mid kick first to close the distance to get in range for his crosses and Ocelot needs to put a lot into his parries to parry Snake's crosses
Good point...the double cross is kind of unorthodox and can throw off some timing

Holy crap, thank you so much for making this; I was looking everywhere for a real life breakdown of the Old Snake v Liquid Ocelot fight, and unable to find it, until I was lucky enough to stumble across this, and hell; I can't wait to stress test the rear-hand punch defense technique demonstrated at 2:14 during a spar (in sparring gloves, with mouthguards in) but I have one question: does it have a name (or not really)?
I'm not sure of the name. You can probably find it in many martial arts, including judo and silat. The move only works because Solid Snake "feeds" a punch. Nobody that actually is trained to punch will step forward with the same side leg as they punch. You may be able to get it to work against a jab, but you need enough time to see it coming, so you need to make you opponent step into the jab from out of punching range. Does that make sense?

I like the second fight between them, but the choreography is wasted though, since you play as snake during the cutscene and you can't really watch what is going on lol

LOL Solid was quite the pawn most of his military career. Big Boss was at first too, which changed him into what he was. Ocelot is a cool character. I like his ambiguity.

Have to say one of the more eccentric fights you guys have done but still well done. While I haven’t played the game I’m just curious what they were fighting on? It seemed like they were up in the sky? And honestly I’m surprised they didn’t manipulate the field as much.

Thanks for the info. I ask because I often find it a little fun when people don’t take into account area or Terran their fighting on affecting the fights. So the fact their on a ship at sea which normally rocks even in the slightest helps explain some of the movements that the fighters did in the demo.
Silverous Leonidas They’re on the Outer Haven Submarine. MGS4 is genuinely one of the greatest games of all time. The first time played this permanently imprinted into my mind. Definitely worth playing through

nice! I love how you break it down
but I think the first 2 throws did not have a sweeps. especially the second one its more of a parry + clothesline timed to snake's front kick. now the 1st throw can both have or not have a sweep depending on how extended snake'sarm is and his field of vision. let's say snake's arm was extended just like In the video. you rotate your body the same way you did in the video minus the sweep then you bring both arms to your center and drop your weight on it by pushing it down or in ocelot's case horse stance while keeping it centered. snake tripped because ocelots thigh and body was in the way not because sweeped him because from that position snake can see it coming and can escape it be simple raising his leg and stepping back another thing I noticed is your partner had to step his back leg forward so that he can sweep your leg it takes to much time to do that and if you look at the video again its subtle but ocelot changes his stance as he gets away from snake's line of attack his backleg becomes his frontleg and vice versa what's difference its faster since your sweeping leg is already in position when your partner goes for the sweep he can now do so without you noticing it. remember when they choreographed MGS4 fights they based it heavily on Japanese jujitsu especially the throws check out martial gamer he does incredible breakdowns like you.

I feel like the 1st throw is still used with a sweep as well. Ocelot drops elevation, which helps as well, but he does lift his leg like Chris does. It's hard to see even in the slow motion part as we explain it, but it's there. That's why I called it being a sweep.
@@JoeyBslash3 well ocelot could have done it. since he shifted his stance it's an option at that point he could have did it in a subtle way . that's the beauty about sweeps in my opinion the more subtle the more effective it is

He was going for a jumping spinning kick...think Jean Claude Van Damme's famous kick. Ocelot just caught him in the middle of it...perfect example as to why those kicks are risky

If you like fight scenes of this kind, you'll love the Yakuza games (unless you happen to have some problem with some of the side missions. Just warning ya.). The QTE fight scenes, the Heat moves and the combos themselves will either be beautiful to look at for you or horrific. But that's up to you decide, so do give the series a try.
Yea, I have heard of the Yakuza series and have seen some gameplay. Definitely on my list of games to play in 2019
@@JoeyBslash3 If you happen to care about lore, better start with Yakuza 0. It also has a whole fighting style based around using a multitude of weapons, and, at least to me, it seems like they did some good research into how the weapons work.

What Martials arts I need to do if I what tout be Big Boss/ Snake ? (I'm still a kid I think x) )
I would say Judo. He does a lot of throws and Judo is heavily focused on breaking your opponents balance and throwing them to the ground

Yea, judo is competition oriented mostly...unfortunately. I'm sure there are some schools that focus on self defense somewhere though.
I'd say since the Metal Gear CQC hast lots of throws, joint locks and striking japanese Ju-Jutsū or Tai Jitsu would be the closest picks.

@@JoeyBslash3 thanks I appreciate the reply and it's interesting there is alot of grappling dummy's if you just look up grappling dummy's you'll get alot of jujitsu type stuff which I want to improve my Technique on really alot of self defense fronts and I was wondering do have any advice for people to train kali without needing a partner I was thinking a Medicine ball Could mimic head movement So that way you could work on manipulation

How long did it take you guys to make this
Probably about 3 hours to shoot, then 8 to 10 hours editing. The shooting process was so short only because I had someone behind the camera and my buddy Chris acting as Ocelot, as he is a good martial artist and picks up the choreography very quickly. Literally no rehearsal...
