Your First Yugoslavian Rock Album: Professor Skye Reviews "Paket Aranžman" Compilation

- I present the 1980 Yugo new-wave / rock classic album “Paket Aranžman” from the Belgrade fortress. And yes, the camera was perched on top of a tank with bees in it.

EKV is not at all just about charismatic Milan, here is also Margita Stefanovic who was with him from their beginnings 'til their breakup. She was an extraordinary persona. Unfortunately her life was tough.. look at her eyes and expressions on photos. I am 29, but first time when I saw album cover for record "Ljubav" ["Love"] and put it on play, I was around 11-12, I instantly fall in Love with Margita. Her intelligence, playing, mistery and beauty are magnificient!
If you are still interested, studio Druga Maca was located in Svetogorska (Lole Ribara, at the time) street, house number 11. Enco Lesic, the owner, was a Croat, so when things got hot at the end of 1990. he closed the studio, packed his bags and moved back to Croatia. He lived in Split and died in 2013 I think. Nothing remains of the studio today, and by looking at that old building in a very poor condition, you could never tell that it hosted such an important place for a while.

@@professorskye NP, just go through the gate, then through the hallway to the backyard of the building. On the backside there is a place currently occupied by a flower store. That's the place where studio used to be. (strangely enough, there is another flower store on the street side of the building, but that's not the one.)

You should watch entire show (part 1 and 2) about 40 years of new wave in Yugoslavia. It is mostly based on this particular album. Link is above my reply in Notemog post.
You should really listen to Odbrana i polednji dani by Idoli. That album is one of the best europian rock albums at that time. Its conceptual, has elements of psyhodelia and so much it is really worth your time.
Tito was not a dictator, but the best president ever to be in the Balkans. The system was one-party and that is what was not the best part of that.
Thats great. You should also try out some of the Bosnien and Croatien rock bands from Yugoslavie. Even Macedonia had some cool goth rock during the 80s.

Nice review Profs, I grew up on this album...btw Paket A. came out before The Smiths were formed....I think it was influenced more by Punk amd Ska waves...

If you were gonna compare the evolution of Elektricni Orgazam, it would be more like the Stranglers evolution, from mid-70ies till today. Yes, Orgazam was and still is a fine band, with a few questionable turns. Either way - truly enjoying your videos.
The best bands on this legendary album were Sarlo Akrobata, with some of its members later forming Katarina II and Ekaterina Velika and the other band was Idoli. Elektricni Orgazam on this album is also a great band but I am not the greatest fan of Orgazam as I love Sarlo and Idoli. The first track from Sarlo, Ona se budi has also influence from British bands like The Specials.
Elektricni Orgazam didn't go lame , you may be confusing them with some other band. The first two albums were new wave/punk both great and the cover album (Chansons Populaire). Then they went more garage rock and had a couple of great albums. They have a great live album (Braco i Sestre- Brother and Sisters after a live MC 5 album that was popular in Yugoslavia).
Maybe you can make revew of the CRO groups of the same era - just to get complete picture of New Wave scene in ex YU in the end of 70-s and begining of 80's.
3 recomended bands- ""Prljavo kazalište" (The Dirty Theater) "Azra" & "Film", and please pay attention on very good Belgrade group "U škripcu" - (my favore band from Serbia back in the days)
and Paraf, Let 2, Termiti, Problemi, itd...

Šarlo Akrobata is the best Belgrade band and it has three geniuses who could not be together for a long time, so they released only one album, but after them EKV and Disciplina Kičme were formed. No less good, maybe even better band is 'Haustor' from Zagreb, Croatia. Listen to them, you won't regret it.
Tito was not a dictator . Yugoslavia was not communist country. It was a socialist country where people had much more rights than in other countries that were under pressure from Russia such as Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, etc. Tito said in 1948, 'Fuck off' to real dictator Stalin and founded the 'Non-Aligned'It as the third force, All those states that are not under the influence of America or the USSR on the other hand traded with each other (which is a brilliant idea) and people lived well.I lived the first 20 years of my life in Yugoslavia, today I am in Croatia and I felt better then. Today, when all these small states were formed after the bloody disintegration of Yugoslavia, which would not have happened if there were no ultra-right nationalists on all sides, especially Milosevic on the Serbian side who started all the wars.Wars would never have happened if Tito had been alive.Now we have democracy, we can vote for always the same corrupt leaders and we are 800 times poorer than during Yugoslavia.

And yeah, when we are talking about Haustor, some of us, like your friends or acquaintances, don't know your relationship with Hrvoje Prpic and Tomislav Jurina who are both from Konjscina as well as I am (we grew up in the same street lol), are really proud and happy 'cause Rundek is from Konjscina as well. And when you grew up in that small town, you're proud 'cause you know that an amazing artist who influenced us in many ways is from there as well. Rundek is an amazing and true artist. As you said, maybe even better than serbian bands, but for me, it is one of the most important acts in yu-new wave. Aj pozdrav Zagrebu i cijeloj muzickoj ekipi iz Juzne Karoline! Ziveli :D

Vd,drummer from Šarlo Akrobata,died from aids,he was 31....Guitarist Milan,later played in EKV,died from cancer at age of 36...Very sad story..
You know "Paket Aranžman" was printed and taped in Zagreb, today's Croatia. Plus, I would not call it first YU rock album. Try with Buldožer.
I don't think it's meant as "the first YU rock album", but rather a starting point for someone wanting to get into the music, as it features several very important bands in one place. As in, the first YU rock album you should listen to.
@@MravacKid Well, rock is rock, punk rock is punk rock. new wave is new wave. Again, jel misliš da Buldožer nije r'n'r? Čak i da idemo nazad do Grupe 220, to je r'n'r. Atomsko Sklonište takođe Mravac. Stoga? Možda je bolje, mada nije prvi, uzeti YU punk 78-80, bolji pregled bendova.
@@tompanoname3579 Covek (Professor Skye) u glavnom pokriva na svom kanalu alternativu (npr. Velvet Undeground) i alternativni hip hop (JPEG mafia) tako da je izabrao album koji bi interesovao njegove gledaoce. To bas i nije Grupa 220 i Atomsko Skloniste.

Yugoslavia was the only communist country for a short period of time just after WW2, after that Yugoslavia was a socialist country with capitalist influence. EKV is the BEST! You should also listen to Zabranjeno Pusenje their lyrics.
