There actually is a sound hole at the top of the guitar, basically pointing directly into the players face.

During that whole last section, Tim's playing feels so much like a soloist performing a violin concerto. The construction of those arpeggios is of course quite different, but the way the part is laid out and performed is not far off at all.
You can't really tell from this video, but the guitar actually has a sound hole on the side of it, facing towards tim. Since this is an unplugged playthrough, I'm pretty sure we're hearing only the sound hole and not the piezo pickup. Or maybe it could be both
Nate, thank you. After reading what you said I doubt is was plugged in and thanks for point out the sound hole. I haven’t looked to deeply into the guitar.

I've seen DiMiola Play with Return to Forever, 2nd row in a small venue, and once at a guitar workshop. Ive been a fan for a long time. I see the similarities but I have to say Tim is actually cleaner player.
It would be great to see them both do a duet. Al had some fire back in the old days still smokes now.
Two of my all time favourite players. Both live and in the studio.
