I am a 32 year veteran school bus driver. I was horrified, fascinated, and laughing my a-- off for this whole ride! Finding kids left on the bus at the end of the day is a bus driver's nightmare, but very funny in a video. I wish I could get out there for the games.
This may actually be one of my favorite MORR videos of all time. Between the shear absurdity of it, and knowing that it was Matt's visceral skill at sand-walking which kept that short bus on its skis. Fully sent bus == win. Props to you all also for resisting the urge to pop the sign and flash the lights. Get that stuff cleared out!. Can't wait to see this in action. And yes... I *may* be checking ticket prices and looking at rental jeeps for the games for my son and I.

One of the things I love about this channel is that it’s really really good, but the production values are not “slick”. It’s so genuine. But the “slickest” - and funniest edit I have ever seen here is the adorable little kids that Matt forgot to drop off. That was PERFECT!! Many fist bumps to whoever 1) thought that up 2) did the edit. With all the great vids from MORR this year, this might be my favorite.
If Matt is the only one thinking up these episodes, he needs a raise. ha ha. The roll with the punches makes for exciting viewing. Even if perhaps there is some type of planning and script. Just thoroughly enjoyable. The closing Dad Joke was kind of expected, but the expressions were priceless. If they had smiled it might have just been cute. As it is though, absolutely killer close.

Agreed. With years of experience as to what NOT to do he immediately realized it's weakness (ground clearance) and stuck to the sands. Any regular person would have gotten that thing stuck over and over again and never made it.
The ending was great! One of my best buddies owned a school bus company (just sold it so he could retire) and I will have to show this to him. Having little ones left over at the end of a run is not a good thing, but it happens, and Matt's reaction says it all besides being extremely hilarious. And the look on the kids faces was so precious and hilarious.
That Bus is doing incredibly great in Offroading. At first I thought the thumbnail was a photoshopped clickbait. Now I am hyped to see it modified. But you have to be at least a little crazy (in a positive way), to even try this. P.S. one of the first Videos of Mat I really had to lough out loud. Not grinning, really loughing.
With the tangerines current configuration if you added safety straps/harnesses and fixed mounted standing positions or elevated chairs. It could become a follow along camera vehicle

I'm a school bus mechanic and that step is a problem for buses that stay on road. Ive seen drivers wipe them on practically nothing. This is one of you most entertaining videos, loved it!!!!!!❤❤❤

That was epic. A big smile on everyone's faces, including mine, from beginning to end. 🤣 Matt was like a little kid behind the wheel, the 'passengers' alternating from terror to laughter. I like the idea of this being an off-road bus as many can't walk the distance for the event sites. It can also double. as others have suggested, as a support vehicle for major events, projects. It is already in MORR yellow and black so no painting or wrapping needed.
Always nice to see that Matt first and foremost puts the health and safety of family and crew (and equipment) ahead of anything else. Unless it involves school bus testing, that is.

I have watched, enjoyed, and learned from MORR videos since the very beginning, but I have never straight up laughed out loud and smiled more than I did while watching this one. Absolute classic shenanigans. The looks of joy, amazement, and maybe fear on the team members’ faces was terrific. Good stuff!
I would put full suspension seats in that bus. They will take out the majority of the harshness of the ride. As long as they have good shocks, it will go a long way in preventing motion sickness as well.
I agree. Long chassis have light rear ends. The seating in the rear especially needs to be secure and supportive. And the steps… if you raise the chassis the steps will be hard to reach for older folks or people with physical limitations.
I used to drive a school bus as a work truck, loaded with tools, they're a lot of fun to drive. We also hit the bottom step on everything, the front corner was all bashed up. You can keep the digital tach on all the time by pressing the top button to the left of the steering wheel multiple times until you get to the tachometer.
When I woke up this morning I never imagined Matt full sending a short bus through Sand Hollow to the top of the world...but I should've? 🤪 This one was freaking hysterical guys!

i mean i wanna say from 07-present gm in most truck applications put the g80 locker in the rear end and its a dually so more than likely should have that, how well it still works is up for debate since it one wheel peeled on that rock.
Nice bus, it looks like new. The ride along was hilarious. Everyone's excitement along with all their expressions when you made it to the top of the world was awesome. That was quite the test drive for the newly rebuilt transmission.
Hay Mat, the way the sand flies up over the front of the bus when the bumper bottoms out reminds me of a boat when it hits the waves and water comes up over the boat, so, I think you should name it The Land Yacht.

I have seen in the comments that some people have been asking for like drone shots that are closer to the ground, so well an open top safari vehicle was the primary purpose of the tangerine rebuild. I feel like camera vehicle was also a motivation
If the A/C belt has a tensioner I would recommend taking the tensioner off completely and putting on a stretch belt. The newer trucks don’t have a tensioner for the A/C. Just a stretch on belt. I had to do that for mine because the fast up and down raving kept throwing it off. Just a suggestion. 🤷🏽♂️
What I would like to see is a dedicated video on the heavy wrecker mechanically. I have been a mechanic most of my life and a lot of your viewers are mechanical people like me and would love to see an in debth description of the ins and out on that incredible build. i watched the entire build videos but still do not remember all the specifics. Probably the greatest Matt has built and that"s saying a lot, Please consider this idea as Matts creative expertise are what intrigues mechanical viewers like myself. In the early '90s, a Canadian band covered the first S, so that they had a CHOOL BUS. I'm sure other bands also covered the H. You may have to switch the red lights on the front for off-road lights. The Leslie Spit Treo did a great cover of Angel From Montgomery. The dog in the video is named Tag.
That bus would make an amazing support vehicle on a long recovery. Add some solar panels and batteries to it, a radio repeater, and some food and water storage plus all of the off road mods and its a beast.

Good thing you are converting it to four wheel drive. I was in charge of a 10 mini bus fleet and the Chevrolet based buses destroyed ball-joints, tie rod ends and pretty much everything else in a year or two. It may feel light but they carry a lot of weight on the nose.
This was an epic episode from the very start to the wonderfully hilarious end. My compliments to Matt and those 3 precious little “extras” at the end. Fantastically hilarious.

who needs a roller coaster when you have a school bus and sand dunes 😂 all jokes aside, this made me realize how much I trust in matt's ability to drive. Had it been any other youtube channel I 'd have been scared for the passengers, but since it's matt I never once felt like there was any danger.
I knew if Matt drove it would make it in the sand pretty well because he does LOVE to bomb stuff. Seeing that bus at the top of the world and everybody's reaction was next level.
Matt should make new bumpers to increase aproach and depart angles (apart from raising the susp) and to add tow hooks. All the seats need 3 point seat belts. I really enjoyed this video.

just an idea .... hows about planting a second 'sign post' at Top of the World since the existing one seems filled up? I'm thinking maybe 25 to 50 feet or so away, a foot in diameter, 12 to 15 feet tall, and top it with a sign that reads 'Post donated and erected 2024 by Matt's Offroad Recovery, Hurricane, Utah' and an arrow pointing towards the shop with the mileage number. The 'reveal ceremony' would be great done with the 1st load of people on the bus!

I am an engineer at Collins, the manufacturer of the bus. Everyone at Collins has seen or heard of this. The majority of us think it is awesome and want to see it when it is done. I would suggest taking the school bus decal off the front and rear of the bus for driving it around.

I have seen in the comments that some people have been asking for like drone shots that are closer to the ground, so well an open top safari vehicle was the primary purpose of the tangerine rebuild. I feel like camera vehicle was also a motivation

They should put a action camera mount on top sorta like a turret on a gun truck. It would be fitting with the hummer vibe.
If the A/C belt has a tensioner I would recommend taking the tensioner off completely and putting on a stretch belt. The newer trucks don’t have a tensioner for the A/C. Just a stretch on belt. I had to do that for mine because the fast up and down raving kept throwing it off. Just a suggestion. 🤷🏽♂️
What I would like to see is a dedicated video on the heavy wrecker mechanically. I have been a mechanic most of my life and a lot of your viewers are mechanical people like me and would love to see an in debth description of the ins and out on that incredible build. i watched the entire build videos but still do not remember all the specifics. Probably the greatest Matt has built and that"s saying a lot, Please consider this idea as Matts creative expertise are what intrigues mechanical viewers like myself. That bus would make an amazing support vehicle on a long recovery. Add some solar panels and batteries to it, a radio repeater, and some food and water storage plus all of the off road mods and its a beast.
It’s going to be an off-road bus that takes fans around sand hollow, west rim trail, and top of the world.

Good thing you are converting it to four wheel drive. I was in charge of a 10 mini bus fleet and the Chevrolet based buses destroyed ball-joints, tie rod ends and pretty much everything else in a year or two. It may feel light but they carry a lot of weight on the nose.
This was an epic episode from the very start to the wonderfully hilarious end. My compliments to Matt and those 3 precious little “extras” at the end. Fantastically hilarious.

Matt should make new bumpers to increase aproach and depart angles (apart from raising the susp) and to add tow hooks. All the seats need 3 point seat belts. I really enjoyed this video.

just an idea .... hows about planting a second 'sign post' at Top of the World since the existing one seems filled up? I'm thinking maybe 25 to 50 feet or so away, a foot in diameter, 12 to 15 feet tall, and top it with a sign that reads
'Post donated and erected 2024 by Matt's Offroad Recovery, Hurricane, Utah'
and an arrow pointing towards the shop with the mileage number.
The 'reveal ceremony' would be great done with the 1st load of people on the bus!
It’s going to be super interesting to see how you tune the suspension, there is going to be a 2 ton difference from loaded and unloaded.
Going to be a challenge to get best of both, maybe airbags and limit straps to take the load when the bus is full.

I've got to admit that while I've been to the top of the world at sand hollow several times over the years, it never once occured to me to try it in a school bus. Great video
I am an engineer at Collins, the manufacturer of the bus. Everyone at Collins has seen or heard of this. The majority of us think it is awesome and want to see it when it is done. I would suggest taking the school bus decal off the front and rear of the bus for driving it around.
