Plant Spotlight: Blue Chiffon Rose of Sharon 🌸

In this video I’ll show you my mature specimen of the Blue Chiffon Rose of Sharon.. I love how it blooms all summer and adds a vibrant blue purple to the garden.. great plant for privacy, height and tropical feels!

This plant is actually the lavender chiffon cultivar, blue chiffon is actually very blue in photos/person with no pink tones

Thank you. This plant doesn't have pink tones maybe that's how it appears on camera. The flowers fade to a purple which. most "blue" flowers do change to a shade of purple. there is a odd chance it was mislabelled but I've seen lavender chiffon and it is much lighter and more pinker than purple. I also have a magenta chiffon which is more of a plum/pink purple and a completely different hue. Which one do you have?

Priti I have the White Chiffon and a Lavender Chiffon and they seed around for me. Mine haven't started blooming yet. Bonny

I must be just lucky I have not seen any seedlings yet.. could also be because I do give it a prune in the fall.. I love how beautiful the blooms are 🌸 This one is the earliest rose of sharon to bloom in my garden.. I have a magneta one too but no blooms yet!

Are you sure this is the Blue Chiffon? It looks more like the Pink Chiffon. I may be wrong but I was told the Blue Chiffon is actually blue. Yours looks very pink. I don't have one but was wanting to get a Blue Chiffon. However, if it is this pink I don't think it is what I was wanting.

Yes it is blue chiffon.. It is more of a purple not pick.. maybe that’s how it looks in the video.. Most blue flowers are actually a shade of purple.. I also have azzuri blue satin which has a slightly more blue appearance if that’s what you are going for - but they all are more purple than blue. Hope that helps!

Mine is really blue, it has no pink. But the baby seed that grew from the mother plant is pink. It’s weird, might be cross pollinated.
