- I am huge fan of these blooms, but not so much a fan of where they were planted. The goal is to successfully propagate some cuttings, so that if my plan to dig and move these shrubs fail, I'll have some back up.
I'd love to hear your tips and tricks for Propagating Rose of Sharon!
Feel free to leave them in the comments below.

I do love a good gardening experiment can't wait to see how it turns out and those are such pretty flowers!!
Me too!! and thank you☺️
I loved your video. I'm not sure if a follow-up video exists. I was hoping to see which method(s) worked well because I plan to try propagating my Rose of Sharon shrubs next summer. Thanks again!
Great video! Thanks for the info. Would love an update on your propagations! 😃
Have you given any of these methods a try? Would love to hear your experience.

I tried rooting Rose of Sharon last year by just trimming some cuttings and putting them into moist soil. Most all rooted and this season they are looking great.
I keep a large pot full of soil, doesn't even have to be "good" soil... & as I prune, I poke the stems into the soil. Keep it watered throughout the growing season. I'm in zone 7, NE Oklahoma. I do not bring this pot indoors for winter. It sits on my East facing, barely covered front porch. My cuttings even bloom in the pot.
Great video here, can’t wait to see the results. It’s all about experimenting 👍🏼
Most definitely! Experimenting Is the fun part
Really helpful and a fun video. Thanks for sharing!
Great info. and plant🌺, thank you. Excited to see results.
Quite enjoyable, entertaining and educational. Thank you
Glad to hear it! thank you so much for watching ☺️
The Rose of Sharon on my property propagates from seed, and I have tiny plants everywhere! I am going to try starting some in water too. Anxious to see how yours turn out.
They ones i had shot out roots and spread. but yes they do make seed on every bloom. I have 3 cuttings now i just got in water.
Exactly what I wanted to see. Thank you so much for the video.
I have been toying with the idea of rose of sharon in my garden. Please keep us updated!
Absolutely! They are beautiful once they’re in bloom, but waiting for them to come into bloom every season is a chore😂
I’m gonna try doing this. Great info
Please do! I’d love to hear how it works for you
I had a Rose of Sharon that was growing beside an oak tree that had excellent soil to grow in because of the
Leaf mulch. It would put out seedlings underneath the tree. So, I would recommend putting good compost all around the base of the Rose of Sharon, no mulch, and see if any volunteers pop up.
I just bought some in the Chiffon series & they are sterile. So I am very interested in how your cuttings turn out. In zone 9.
Mix them together and let grow. Absolutley beautiful.
Thank you for showing me this techniques thank youuuuu very much.
Three different ways, three times the fun! 😜 I love a dope science project. Can’t wait to see the results. 🤞
Exactly my thoughts! Thanks for watching. Can’t wait to share the results. ☺️
@@BroadwayGardener just watching your video for the first time. Where can I see the results? Another video?
Dope?
yesss, they were so beautiful
I’m trying this now! Don’t you just luv this plant🌱
At first I wasn't a fan, but when they bloomed.....😍💕😍 I wanted to dig them all out and give them away when we moved here in December and by August I was propagating them so I could have more!!!😂
awesome , we tried to propogate our roses but so far we didnt have luck , but we will try again soon , yours look awesome
Best of luck! If all else fails grab the seed pods at the end of the season. Works everytime!
This is the kind of stuff I really like 👍
I’m catching this video for the first time 5 months after it was posted. I’m curious to know if you had success with any of the methods! I live on a rental property with beautiful pink and white rose of Sharon and would love to take some clippings someday when I move!
On the home page is second and third videos!
You are lovely and thanks for this excellent video. All the best.
Thank you so much! 🤗
Great video 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Extremely informative article helpful.. thanks for sharing 🎉
Thank you so much! I hope it was helpful along with the updates
Love your videos...
loved the video. thanks for the info. followed
Did your cuttings grow. I put some in water in August, they rooted and I transfer them to soil in November. I kept them outside in my little greenhouse. I thought they died because all the leaves were gone. I was about to throw them out bit noticed they were still alive. I now have 4 plants growing. Mine is rose of Sharon Althea with the pink center. Please give us an update.
Cool ... Thank you
You bet!
Well done.
Wow soooooo beautiful flower and nice video thanks friend and well come friend. 👏👏💐💐

you are so calm! 😂
Thank you so much! 🥰
so beautuful
I can't find the next of this, and it looks like it's been 8 months. Did none of them take? Have you tried air layering propagation?
It’s on her home page. She did so good. Plus she dug the original one out and planted it in a different spot with a third video on home page.
She did a great job!❤
So which method is the best
Very beautiful plants dear thanks 👍👍stay connected dear friend 👍👍🤗🤝
Curious how they turned out? Update please!!
There is nothing like having gardening options. #keepgrowing
Do you need to use rooting hormone or can you do it in water?
My cuttings dipped in ‘take root’ then planted in potting soil seed cups did sprout.
I’m about to do a white Rose of Sharon bc Storm took our fence down and someone originally planted in a corner close to a part of fence still standing but not enough room for them to replace the fence so the plant has to be removed😢. I hope this works.
I have a question. My house stays 67 degrees all year indoors. Should I find a safe place outside for the new cuttings since there will be a temperature change putting them indoors then back out if they root in order to plant. Afraid of plant shock which I have had with other plants by bringing them inside to root or sprout. I don’t want a rain or storm to blow them away outside either?? Where is the best place for my cooler house in North TX?
Thank you❤
Dope
Thank you 🥰
Update please??
Hi there! How did clippings turn out?! Love your channel!
Thanks so much for watching! I'm so happy I tried these methods. Definitely recommend the water propagation and saving seeds

There's an updated Rose of Sharon video coming later this week
Wow! Thanks a lot for sharing 😊
My pleasure 😊
I've been looking for someone to show me how to plant this tree. My husband brought me one a month ago, she's still in her original pot with no flowers yet. Still healthy looking green leaves. I want to just plant her in a pot and not the ground. Any suggestions?
She will out grow the pot. But you can start her there..
I propagate Rose of Sharon also have had great success. Decide where you want to plant your plant. Plant it in the ground water the first two months it will live. Not to close to anything I like to start as a centerpiece then adding small plants near by makes it fun! God bless it
I'm moving from Ohio to North Carolina and am thinking of trying to propagate some stems of our Rose of Sharon outside our home to the new place in NC. I've never done this before and I'm assuming I'll just kill anything but curious which technique worked the best? EDIT: Just saw your follow up video: czcams.com/video/7O2pZoW3D_M/video.html
How did your propagation project go?
@@BroadwayGardener I ended up not going through with it. Will be looking for a local nursery instead.
😊🌱💚🌻🐝
where I work, some lady was chopping down her rose of Sharon. I walked by and said how beautiful why are you chopping away such a beautiful tree. She said I don't want it, it grows to crazy. Smh ppl just don't appreciate the beauty of nature. I felt so sad..she said you like here. She pulled the flower off and said stick it in the ground and leave it the seeds will fall off and next year you will have this tree in a few years. I never heard of plucking a flower at the base putting it in dirt. I have to ask is this possible? With this particular plant.
It does grow a lot, but all it takes to maintain is a yearly trim. I cant imagine sticking a fresh bloom in the ground would produce a seedling, but if what she handed you was a dried seed pod, or a drying flower, then its very possible if you stick it in the ground it will grow. The plant is very good at reseeding itself and very resilient.
Any Updates? ~ 1 Amor
Yes of course!

And another update coming this month
I took 6 cuttings & used root hormone & put in solo cups with holes. All 6 died. 😢
Hello whe are you located
Hey There! I am in New Jersey. Growing Zone 7
🤗🌍
Guess it didn't work. You never did an update...
There are two update videos. Read the video titles. Might ask her with some manners next time😊. She does great gardening!❤
The ones that are in water. Did you use root stimulate ?
