I’m so sorry to hear this, Alfie!! It only makes me nervous about my shop’s future on Etsy if they even take down handmade sellers like this. In case you haven’t heard, Starla Moore was calling for Etsy sellers who had been wrongfully suspended to contact her because she had finally made contact with the head of customer support at Etsy (an actual human), and he said he would help. This was about a week or so ago, but I’m sure she would be willing to help! Especially since your sister is a handmade seller and literally everything Etsy supposedly stands for.
Ah thanks so much for letting me know about this! I'll certainly take a look and see if my sister wants to try this, she is understandably a bit down about the business closure so I've recommended a few days off to re-set. This happend to on of my Accounts 3 times (it's not 100% selfmade and not creative like the Shop of your sister). I always got "unbanned" in the span of a day after i submitted the form. (I never changed anything with my Shop, because i never knew the reason). For me i have to say that the Etsy suspensions is way too random. It is just such a big factor that it can Ruin or make an existence. I wish the best for your sister and her Shop. The plushies Look so cute❤❤

I had 5 copyright infringements DMCA on my own photos!!!! The copyright notice had fake details, fake name and a fake email. I believe it was a competitor. I told Etsy and they didn’t care at all. They shut my listings down for around 17 days. My sales haven’t return to the sales pre DMCA. Etsy is absolutely shocking!!!!!
That is certainly not ideal and I've heard a few stories like this now.. Your sales should return after a period of time once picked back up in algorithm based on sales velocity.

I luckily already have a shop where I sell digital products but I’ve been trying to open a print on demand shop as well but I’m not able to.
This happened to me when I first started a second shop, the reason was just that it 'got caught up in the system incorrectly' and Etsy re-instated the account. Have you raised an appeal? Normally if you're banned immediately it is account related, rather than shop related.
I'm sorry about your sister's shop, Alfie. I hope she feels a bit better now and does well moving forward from this. They should do better and not treat sellers like they're disposable. It's very backwards and disappointing to hear that they're customer service is so detached and lacking and yet they emphasize customer service for sellers to buyers. It may be their downfall in the long run if they don't course correct. Thanks for supporting your sister and being transparent about the human side of things.

I'm so so sorry for your sister, Alfie, I don't even want to imagine the feeling😟 I am at the very beginning and I hear this so much from different creators and sellers, it is extremely scary that this can happen to anyone, anytime and not to have a human on Etsy's side to reach out to😳😟 This really has to come to a stop, because these are people's lives and one decision of this kind can literally destroy someone, after they invested everything into their store. I'm constantly trying to focus on just getting everything right, but when I hear that even when you do this you are still not immune to what's happening, makes it so much scarier😟 However, you are right in trying to let go and find different alternatives, but I don't think I could ever actually be able to completely let go, at least that is how I feel right now❤

Etsy is an amazing sales platform and it really has changed my entire life for the positive, so I'd absolutely say continue with your journey, but be wary and don't put 'all your eggs in one basket' so to say.

So I appealed it and they talking about they don't discuss they reasoning but they not changing their decision. Soooo basically yall took my money for nothing!!! I don't think I would be so mad if they would explain to me what's going on or what happened.
Yeah this is the massive problem, no human touch and no reasoning.. Sellers are being left none the wiser as to why they have been shut down, it is a huge problem.
@@AlfieNemeth I just came across a guy who was a top seller on Etsy. He created handmade pet collars and got banned 4 months ago for having an outstanding $7 balance in his very old account. He got his account back after 2-3 appeals, but it was such a nightmare with Etsy support, from what he said, just like you said. The reply from the support team felt like talking with AI, but he kept trying until he could contact a human, and they were actually good. I feel like they shouldn't rely on using AI for this sensitive service. I hope your sister not giving up and keeps sending appeals. If she hasn't done anything wrong, it's not right for anyone to do this to her.

Yeah agreed. I think platforms such as instagram and TikTok offer a viable solution, especially if your products are visually appealing or attention grabbing.

I got an infringement for having a shirt up that says in my boy mom era, and I'm the only one, there is 4 pages of them, 3 I seen the same design that mine was pulled and I'm terrified, I did my research and that phrase isn't owned, but BOY MOM is..I truly didn't know I was wrong. The “boy mom” lady is notorious for going into Etsy and sending IP infringement notices to anyone who has anything to do with “boy mom”-even “boy mama.” She has a website and fiercely guards her (not so great) designs. Sorry she came after you!!
Yeah this is one that is targeted more heavily than most unfortunately.. Keep going and you will just create better designs that hopefully one day supersede the infringed ones.

Yeah I can't believe so many stores are never flagged up, but yet a perfect handmade store is. Social media and sales funnel to your own website is great in my opinion.

Same thing happened to me, after tens of support tickets and emails sent still haven't received a single reply... worst platform ever

They take a long time getting back to you, sometimes even 10 working days. Any longer than this and I would assume they won't reply to be honest.

Etsy has become a scam so fast... from a great opportunity for sellers to a scam.
