That series was an absolute war. The first guy talking is Cedric Maxwell. He played out of his mind and was the series MVP over Bird. The defense and physicality of that series was unimaginable to today's fans and players.

Pretty sure most young cats who think Larry wouldn't be dominate in today's NBA be cause he wasn't athletic enough, never saw him in his prime like this, before all the injuries piled on
I think the opposite,guys today like jokic and luka are not fast or freakishly athletic,but they are putting up insane numbers,i think larry burd will fall into that environment as well and be great

The ECF were as good Finals in 80’s! The league is in a great place when conference finals are competitive. Now consider this was Larry’s whole career when it come to his ring total.

Too beat that sixer team; would been tough even for Jordan,Pippen,and crew. They had defense,quickness.
And they had paint presence,the bulls would have struggled in that area
I wouldn't say the Celtics had no stars or Hall of Famers when Bird arrived in 79. Dave Cowens and Pete Marivich were on that first team but both at end of their careers. Maxwell was a star and Nate 'Tiny' Archibald is a Hall of Fame point-guard. But after that was a very thin bench. The next year, when Parish and McHale arreived, they were much better.
Well that team had 29 wins when bird got there,the team was not good and on birds rookie year he won 60 something games
That 78 Celtics team was WOEFUL. I don’t care WHO was on that team. It BLEW.
Bird went to a 29 win team and with 1 player change to the roster in ML Carr and a new coach in Bill Fitch, Bird was the main reason Boston won 61 games = a 32 game turnaround = the biggest single season turn around in NBA history!!!
