"You're a woman, Harry!" 20 years on this suddenly has a whole new level.
Thought this too
This is another thing showing support for trans community
@@ianwallis6473Or making fun of them.
I mean, the books were written by J.K. Rowling...😂😂😂 Maybe she foresaw to anarchy and the mess that we're in now?...
The priceless scene, "All they gave me was to say is LEMON SHERBET, LEMON SHERBET, LEMON SHERBET and What's the matter Harry?"
They could have done me in a day, but they’ve kept me here three years, and I haven’t even got a caravan!”
So many great bits but I took an unreasonable joy from Alison Steadman doing Maggie Smith. Just super.
She had the outraged nasality spot-on!
Jeremy Irons was actually second choice for Snape he's awesome!
Wow, I didn't know that.
I think he'd have done very well had Alan Rickman not been available.
Alan Rickman as Snape was awesome 😢
Surprised he wasn't in any of the movies tbh
@@ultrademigod He's in the Comic Relief spoof "Harry Potter and the Secret Chamberpot of Azerbaijan". He's very funny.

“On lord of the rings, they had chocolate hob nobs” I don’t know why that cracks me up every time lmao
I love Jennifer's impression of JK lol.
I never noticed, all this time after 18 years I thought it was JK Rowling herself lol.
I thought it was hilarious that JKR had a small cameo introducing the sketch itself.
Can't believe it.
They should've done a whole series out of this,it's cold blooded hilarious!!!
This has to be my favourite CR sketch of all time. I remember rolling around on the floor in hysterics when I first watched it. Casting the shortest man in British light entertainment Ronnie Corbett (RIP) as Hagrid is hilarious. I just love it. The funniest thing ever.
Jeremy Irons is just so fantastic in this...
In this and everything else he's been.
He’s was Alfred in Batman and Simon in die hard
@@Ghost20093 and brother of Hans Gruber (Alan R.)
Never realised before it was Allison Steadman playing McGonagall. She's hilarious. My favourite is still Jeremy Irons swishing Snape.
Miranda Richardson playing Emma Watson playing Hermione is the best thing I've ever seen. She's got the bratty overacting and over confidence perfectly.
ikr XD
And she later actually appeared in the main franchise as Rita Skeeter.
Dawn French is in the actual films as well@@timlemmens1087
I thought i knew her from some were hahaha @@timlemmens1087
Emma Watson
Has she ever been likeable
The more I see Jennifer Saunders, the more I believe she should be the next Doctor.
"God I'm gorgeous!" xD
I say that every morning to myself in the mirror 😎
Slow blink.. 😂
Alan Rickman (RIP) played Hans Gruber in the first Die Hard film before later playing Severus Snape in all Harry Potter films. Jeremy Irons played Hans Gruber's brother Simon Gruber in the third film Die Hard with a Vengeance before later playing Severus Snape in this Harry Potter Comic Relief spoof. Wow, what a connection between Harry Potter and the Die Hard films... and also the Gruber family and Severus Snape.
He will always be Scar in the Lion King to me
Makes me wonder if Tobias Snape's mother's maiden name was Gruber. 🤔 😉
oh god Jeremey irons as snape is perfect!! 4:00
When I watched the Lion King I always thought Scar sounded like Snape.
This is the funniest spoof of Harry Potter ever. I love the whole behind the scenes jokes. Especially when the actors haven’t read the books and resent having to do the movie.
Only spoof of Harry Potter
And a lot of it was based on reality, because they either knew people working on the films or had been in them like Dawn. Nearly all the older British actors referred to it as “The Harry Potter Pension Scheme” and spent time comparing the catering to other jobs they’d done. And there really was a rivalry between casts of Lord of the Rings and HP because HP was filming in rainy and cold Scotland, whereas LotR was filming in sunny New Zealand with a much bigger budget 😂
As an American I appreciate this Brit talent so much! I adore Maggie Smith, and Alison Steadman's portrayal is so fun! (Also, the absence of Hollywood plastic freaky faces is very appreciated.) I'm 74 yrs old and never watched HP movies, barely even know the story, but this barrage of talent and humor had me captivated and giggling the whole way. THANKS FOR POSTING. 😂❤
Yes. That is one of the many great things about British TV and film. They use actors and represent a range of ages and facial configurations, as opposed to models who may be able to act.
HHAAHHAAHA i know I love Alison Steadman in her own right! But this!! I'm a brit and I die laughing at "What's the matter harry" hahahaha
Harry Potter? Very good wig this time, much better length, more natural swing. Sinister good looks, better cufflinks. Elongates the fingers, my idea, slow blink, god i'm gorgeous......
You kind of can imagine all these top actors vying for screen time in these films. The cast of teachers was really excellent.
Jeremy Irons as Snape is iconic.
"I don't use computers to write, I still use wet wipes." Lol!
‘ I think he’s talking parcel force’ 🤣🤣
The "special effects" were hilarious! And what a great impersonation of Maggie Smith. Thanks for posting. 😊
9:23 the Hogwarts Express turning into Thomas the Tank Engine I can't even 😂
As Mr Bean would say "Magic! Onk Onk!"
They really went the extra mile to make it look like crap! 😆
It would be wrong to claim that either Dawn French or Jennifer Saunders were "underrated"; but Jen _really_ deserves to be mentioned more when people talk about impersonations
she has a legitimately *uncanny* ability to embody everything about the person she is portraying, from the absolute personification to the most absurd caricature, in speech, expression and action
I honestly believe she is one of the greatest comedy talents of all time
I agree!, so much so i wasn't sure it was her in this!
@@gillh3176Adrian Edmondson is surprisingly uncredited in the description for this vid (he was the director)
Truly brilliant. I’ll never be able to watch the remaining episodes without thinking of this bit. French and Saunders have been my favorites for almost 30 years.
Miranda Richardson from Black Adder is so good at playing strange women. Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French are always funny. Jeremy Irons is great as always.
Miranda Richardson also played Rita Skeeta!
I first saw Miranda as Queen Elizabeth in Black Adder and have been in love with her since then
"I may be weak and feeble woman, but I got a heart and stomach of a concrete elephant!"
"Abra kadabra, a fwah fwah fwah, and thats magic!"
Alison Steadman is so good in this 😂😂
Jeremy Irons playing super sassy Snape
(17:24) Alex Ferns a Scottish actor (Trevor Morgan from EastEnders) played Draco Malfoy in the Comic Relief in 2003.
Oh, I thought it was Alan Leech from Downton Abbey (the chauffeur)! They look similar.
Now I want to watch 7 feature-length features of this version.
Welcome...
... back.
...Milking it!...
Basil as Dobby is perfect.
That’s Allison Steadman doing an amazing Maggie Smith!!!
And the voice over on this is the late great Robbie Coltrane aka the real Hagrid
Oh, that's why it sounded so American.
Nigel Planer looks exactly like Richard Harris.
I remember seeing this first time round in the good old days. A timeless classic and made me laugh even louder this time round🤣🤣🤣… Thank you for uploading👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽‼️🧙🏽🪄💫💕
So glad I went looking again for this clip... how can you dislike such a witty and epic parody?
LOOOOVE IT :D
"Am i Slytherin? No i can understand every word, dear" 🤣😂🤣😂
"Elongates the fingers, my idea."
Idk how I found this, but it’s a new Christmas classic ❤😂😂😂😂❤
this is the sequel we deserve!
I’m American who loves British comedy, lots of us grew up with Monty Python and later found shows like WILTY etc. on CZcams so I’ve only ever seen Jonathan Ross or Ronnie on those panel shows. Jonathan as a host 😂 and Ronnie is just hilarious I understand the hype. These 2 as Ron and Harry are hilarious too 😂😂😂
Ever since I saw the Borgias, I can't get enough of Jeremy Irons. He's like a drug.
His son Max is a tady little dish as well 🤣
Have you seen _Reversal Of Fortune, Damage,_ and _The French Lieutenant's Woman?_
Adrian Edmondson..."Action!" :D
I knew Jeremy Irons as the voice of Scar in The Lion King and I was starting to consider him as possible character of Severus Snape.
Funnily, Alan Rickman was also considered to voice scar. But apparently they wanted a "Shakespearean actor" ... as if Rickman wasn't one. 😄
I laughed so hard at this! Brilliant... I used to love watching Basil! 🤣
He’s still on, apparently
Boom boom
@@lollybear66 Mr Roy!
I can't believe it took me this long, but is that Miranda Richardson (Rita Skeeter) as Hermione? Like that would be rather ironic tbh lol.
It is indeed
@@elviskline99 ha that's so great
Queen Elizabeth from Blackadder? I’ll be damned.
Is that Robbie (Hagrid) Coltrane doing the voice-over? Greatly missed Robbie, a wonderful comic & serious actor.
Yes.
I can’t believe they got trevor from east Enders to play draco malfoy brilliant 😆
I know that was hilarious made me laugh. 😂😂😂
TBH I thought Trevor was more scarier than Voldemort.
I love how he stayed in character, at the beginning. When he said 'Hello darling' and 'that's right sweetheart', his famous words to Little Mo.
Wow, Jeremy Iron's Snape is pretty impressive.
This is still one of the funniest things I've ever seen, jfc
Brilliant. Spotted the fab Ade Edmonson too, bonus.
Makes me wonder when Dawn French was cast as the Fat Lady portrait, as Prisoner of Azkaban came out a year after this sketch.
And of course Miranda Richardson went on to be Rita Skeeter.
Love Basil as Dobby and I love the way he mentions Mr.Derek, reference to his original show (1968-1980)
Casting Basil was inspired!
Jennifer Saunders absolutely CRUSHED the role of Ron
9:23 - Is no-one going to talk about Thomas? XD
Just the title to this has me laughing. Love French and Saunders at the movies 🎥🤣
It was great to see Ronnie Corbett as Hagrid. 😅
Dumbledore stating “I’ve never read the books” is actually unfortunately very spot on as Michael Gambon did not read the boos, and this was aired right when they were filming prisoner of Azkaban…… How very eerie!
this is hilarious. how have i missed this until now
It's rare to hear "The Gorbals" get a mention that isn't associated with someone getting jumped or stabbed
This is better than the films. I would pay to watch a full film of this 😂😂
Lol me too💯💯😆😆😆
I do genuinely believe that Jeremy irons could of played snape very very well if he was cast instead of the late Alan Rickman
Would be nice if he was hired for Cursed Child if that ever happens. Unless they will go full CGI on us.
Very Ironic (No pun intended) that Alan played Hans Gruber in Die Hard and Alan went on to play his brother in the third film. He really impressed me here as Snape.
COULD. HAVE.
I need this to be a full movie! 😂
I'm watching this again because of Alison Steadman. What's the matter Harry?
The choice of Basil Brush for Dobbie is fucking inspired!
Seeing him chinwagging with Jeremy Irons in their improvised green room is a lovely touch, while Irons - the embodiment of the self-obsessed actor on set we all love to hate pulls at his hair morosely, peering into his little mirror. Priceless! 🏆🧹
Trevor from EastEnders as Malfoy. 😂😂
Hello darling
@@annabxxoxoxo6817 Brilliant. I love how Alex Ferns stayed in Trevor's character. When he said 'Hello darling' and 'that's right sweetheart', his famous words to Little Mo. 😂😂😂😂
thank you, was trying to figure out Malfoy actor,, he done a brill actor job on malfoy did Trevor@@rorymckernan8502
Love the cheesy special effects! 😂
“I think he’s talking Parsel-Force… But I wish he wouldn’t, because it’s making me want to pee!!!”
Nigel Planer here looks very like Richard Harris (Dumbledore in the first few films).
Watching this again years later, I had no idea that was Jeremy Irons playing Snape!!!
Yeah, that’s Hans Gruber’s brother Simon. I go nuts for trivia like that.
I love Basil Brush!
SO true to the book!
SO lifelike!
SO Real!
❤ Thank you!
The best part of this is the howler being those fad paper question things that were popular in the early 00’s 😭
popular since the beginning of paper! lol
I learned how to make cootie-catchers (that's what I was told they were called) in 3rd grade, 1975 or '76 (8 or 9 years old). A craft nearly as old, and as timeless, as dirt. I taught my niece when she was 7 or 8, she loved it.
Early 1800s?
They were a big fad in the early 1960's, too.
This is one of the funniest things I've ever watched.,.. how have I never seen this before 🤣🤣🤣🤣
this is hilarious!! i love jeremy irons so much! 🥺❤️
"The Color of Magic \ The Light Fanastic" movie, Jeremy plays the Patrician; only Alan Rickman could have come close.
I liked the LotR /Gollum reference. STUDIO C has a skit where Gandalf is mistaken for Dumbledore by Harry and Harry is mistaken for Frodo, by Gandalf, and...
brilliant giggle. Totally enjoyed this.
“Oh do shut up darling. None of us have got enough lines. All we’ve got is a few reaction shots” 😂😂😂😂😂
'Malfoy'
'Hello Darling' 😀😀
Inspired having Ronnie Corbett as Hagrid and Basil Brush as Dobbie
Glaswegian Malfoy 😂😂😂
It's quite telling now how none of the adult actors have read any of the books, except maybe an audio tape.
Trevor from Eastenders as Malfoy Lmao 😂
The Ron impressions 😂😂
Alison Steadman's eyebrows!! LOL
This parody will always still stay ingrained in my mind for years to come. It was funny asf when it was shown on comic relief and still is today 😂❤️
I love seeing Madam Du Plonge in this!!!
I've just realised this was narrated by Hagird! Hahaa
Is it?
Guess what?
It's not. You're wrong.
@@adamo1528 Robbie Coltrane
Why do I really like Jeremy Irons as snape?
Funny. Rather unkind to Rupert Grint, but otherwise full of laughs.
"I still use wet wipes."
That intro with JK Rowling is hilarious nowadays.
Rita Skeeter (Miranda Richardson) will do anything for a scoop, even going so far as to dress up like Hermione to blend in with Harry's crew :P
only now realising over a decade later that they are using the action music from aliens xD fucking hell xD
6:38 it's junk howler😂
As much as I am a fan of Dawn French, every time the camera switches to Ms Saunders I start laughing, she steals every scene she is in.
ANYBODY in a scene with the ghastly Dawn French steals it!
throughly enjoyed.! 😉😆
