the best part about the game is, sometimes you don't even need stumps, grab yourself a decent sized couple of bins, a tennis ball and a couple of cricket bats and there you have it cricket in the backyard/school yard. get your mates and you have a game of cricket.
the rules are pretty simple for backyard cricket.
    2 batsman.
if you hit a six it's out.
    hit and go.
the one that gets you out is the next batsman
automatic wicket keeper, so if you hit it behind you, it is out.
bowler gets a single over of six balls
    one hand, one bounce
same rules apply to schoolyard cricket.
but the main expectation, is for everyone to be involved with the game, even if you don't have the numbers (unless you're in India, you have plenty)

Recently hockey World Cup was being played in India, I can say 90 percent of India was unaware. It's an attitude. Why people from India Pakistan, Srilanka, Bangladesh etc have made cricket it's religion? British taught soccer, hockey and cricket. India adopted cricket its passion. Simple reason is it's a game of convenience. It requires skill and little fitness and stamina. In cricket if you cannot bowl fast like Brett Lee become Ashwin and Bhaji. Even Inzamam ul Haq types can become world champs scoring tons. Running between the wickets you run in your own timing, in Fielding you chase the ball in your own timing. In batting ball comes to you. There is never toe to toe neck to neck competition. Whereas in games like soccer, basketball, track and field etc you require enormous amount of speed, stamina and fitness. Opponent stretches you in all these parameters. To beat Maradona you have to beat him not only in skill but also in terms of speed, stamina and fitness. So is with Bolt, Micheal Jordon, Micheal Phleps, Nadal and Federer etc. It's an attitude. IF MONEY AND INFRASTRUCTURE ARE THE ONLY REQUIREMENT THAN PEOPLE FROM INDIA, PAKISTAN, SRILANKA AND BANGLADESH ETC SETTLED IN US, ENGLAND AND EUROPE would have played soccer and other games which are popular there. Who cares for cricket there? But there also they play cricket only. Today football and hockey are played only in villages. Cricket is played in cities and towns. Even England prides in English premier league EPL not cricket, India made IPL in cricket. Media sells what people like. India cannot produce heros in other games which require speed, stamina and fitness, try to find heros in cricket. You talk of Micheal Jordon, they will bring Tendulkar and Kohli, you talk of Micheal Phelps they will bring Tendulkar and Kohli, you talk of Bolt they will bring Tendulkar and Kohli, you talk of Nadal and Federer etc they will bring Tendulkar and Kohli. Recently during FIFA WC media brought a weird comparison between Messi and Tendulkar about their height, popularity , age, achievements etc. But one should know Messi is Messi because of his magical footballing skills which is engined by his mercurial lighting speed and incredible stamina and fitness. Indian cricketers cannot be compared to even state level footballers in terms of speed, stamina and fitness. India Pakistan, Srilanka Bangladesh etc are zero in other games can never be a sporting nation. Japan and Korea may be geographically Asian, but they have the attitude to compete with the best in the world be it technology economy and sports. Today they compete with top footballing nations and Europe in soccer. Make their presence felt.

The euphoria of a big game winning shot in front of the home fans? Soccer is like that the entire game. The excitement that you feel when your team is about to score and the way that you feel your soul leave your body for a split second when the other team is about to score. And there are no commercial breaks during the action. Only during the 15 minute half time. Its 2 45 minutes halfs of uninterrupted intensity. It's like the anticipation that you feel when a fighter lands a big punch and he goes for the kill. And the atmosphere is unequaled. It's college football on steroids.

You forget that soccer is already ahead and already has good achievements in the United States such as regional championships for clubs and national teams, as well as constant qualifications for the World Cups and the birth of stars with high value in the European market, in addition to the fact that that USA clubs (MLS) already have major American sponsors

I wish for the day America has a cricket team.

  • @devendrabhatirawlot512

Bcoz cricket always play within Indian people or south Asian countries... Where peoples migrate to other country like USA Scotland and some countries in Europe and American. And join their team which usually made this game less popular we should give a chance their people so they can know about cricket. And also help to grow their popularity as like baseball football etc
