Comment for part 3 😁
Please
part 3
part 3 please... didn't make it into the video again 😭
More plz
01:51 that was actually my first and only portrait and one of my first 20 paintings but I am actually very happy that he liked my brushwork and speaking of drawing I was still learning to draw with a brush in fact it was my first time drawing with a brush but I am just too happy to be featured in this video and you can't blame a 14-year-old but I would love a part three I took notes and will try to improve off of them
You don’t have to be concerned with a signature precisely because you’re so well known. There’s a good chance someone will call them out for it. Small artists don’t have anyone to defend them.
If you're posting art on the internet, it is GOING to get stolen, period. Extremely annoying but that's a fact. They will crop it out or edit over it, in the end it just isn't worth it and ruins your overall piece. In my personal opinion of course.
I think it is cool to get such review from a better artist but also would be interesting if some other good artist can review it together with you. Probably we could see some sort of discussion which would be nice to observe. Anyway great content
I agree with you
and who says he's a better artist? And better than who? For example, I find his works boring and banal, but in the end it is just my personal taste , surely other people here will appreciate his way of painting more than I do.
@@liv0003 Let's say better in confidence of creating art than some people here at some point but I agree with you that say better artist that somebody else might be not right.. art is so wide area
@@DanilaAbramenkovArt agree 👍
I like watching these but sometimes it feels like Alpay completely forgets that other types of techniques exist except the ones he uses. For example, the girl with the tongue. To me it feels like the artist wanted to emphasize line in the piece, seeing as there's a horizontal, vertical and diagonal line. Sometimes I like overemphasizing things in my works to draw more attention to it, maybe that was the artist's intention as well.
It seemed to me like the critique was more about the placement of the lines. The horizon line is splitting the composition up on the 50/50 line, which generally looks very boring.
@@christophernixonart Alright, that's fair. But I was referring to the other artworks as well.
@@christophernixonart I think placed on the lower third would have been even more boring. At least in the center there is meaning and intention. I don't think it's an accident. There's implied lines forming a cross directly towards the tongue. Looks intentional.
(Well, he is the judge, right?) The painting with the red tongue really made an impression on me... You are right, using lines to direct the attention is a compositional choice
@@iaminconstantpain9524 Gotcha. My bad.
I agree with the signature thing, like placing them in more convenient areas that don’t take away from the painting, but the reason people don’t steal from you is exactly because you have a big audience. When someone has half a million followers, you have half a million people who can recognize when a piece of art is stolen from you. But when someone has a thousand followers and is generally unknown by the public, people can steal from them and have a high chance of getting away with it. Artists really have to protect their work when they don’t have a big platform.
Better to just add a digital watermark that is not placed physically on the painting.
I love how you don't sugarcoat it and are actually honest about your opinions
Honestly, I think he handles things really kindly, because many of those paintings have a LOT wrong with them. He just mentions the main mistakes and even tries to find something good in most of them.
I think that's a great way of handling things though, but I'm just saying: He seems quite forgiving to me. :)
Even if the pink tongue lady is not my style...It was my absolute favourite!! The lines are the ones that make it interesting.
I love these. However I feel that you prefer the kind that have your style. Anyways people love you and I love your (painting) style.
Art is subjective, so we are only getting his personal opinion.
It is really up to you to decide if you like it.
"Some Things are just Ugly" - Alpay Efe 🤣🤣🤣
thank you @alpayefe for roasting my Boba Fett! absolutely spot on. Your advises and comments are super appreciated... I'm looking forward to improve my work and hopefully show you one day in person. so cool!!!!
I absolutly adore the Boba Fett painting
@Mojo Di what about my "ugly painting"😂
Loved the painting, he was spot-on in his description and its nice to see someone appreciate and accept constructive criticism. Most people just get angry and wont learn from it.
@@duanevigue1603
i was very happy to be selected and I was looking forward to a different point of you rather then mine and I think he was right on point... thank you
@@MojoDi thank you so much. Love for art
Lol, i didn’t put the label on bcs I thought people wouldn’t recognise it. Just because I thought it’d be fun. Glad you dig it tho!
Okay so he’s brutally honest. That’s fine. In fact I’d like to be brutally honest too, about this guy:
Not only is this guy incredibly smug and arrogant, I don’t even think of him as an actual artist. He’s a technician. At most a very good illustrator. Have you noticed how he likes to say “but what do I know” in a way that sounds like “I know everything”.
Completely agree
@DJ Pauly D Rephrase in proper English, “bro”, and I may grant you a proper reply.
Yes, I can be arrogant too.
the amount of people that see your work also protects you. if someone rips you off someone else is more likely to recognize its yours. for theses smaller artists it would be very unlikely anyone else would be able to tell them their art is being stolen, unless someone was to post it and there was a signature that is clearly not the posters on it. i agree it ruins paintings, but if your promoting your portrait shop (it seems that theyre mostly on generic portraits) and not creating gallery pieces its whatever. the typing on the photo is better than painting a giant cursive signature near the face atleast.
Reverse image search
I think we might be forgetting that one video where alpay painted a tongue and teeth in his sketchbook
did not see it. is it new or old video?
Lol all the ones he thought were weird (like the teeth) I thought they were cool af. Art is so subjective!
Spot on art is subjective. You enjoy whichever you like.
@Good For Nutting to be honest I am always interested in hearing about technique and things that can be done to improve the art, but it is still very subjective.
clearly, no one thinks your art is worthy of stealing, hence your lack of experience in having yours stolen and needing to put a signature right in the middle. Just because it's not your reality doesn't mean it's not a reality for someone else.
Only photo referenced portrait of girls and flowers allowed! Push everything in the centre! You begged for critique? You got the condescending version of it. Enjoy!
Lmao
I agree with you a bit that he seems to only prefer traditionally beautiful works that are similar to his own. And the whole centering I also don't agree with. But I don't think his tone is condescending I feel like it's very playful and not to be taken too seriously. It's just for fun lol
It's like he is watching from a high place us mere mortals who can't properly use a brush 눈_눈\(°^°)/
@@mc_va 😅😅
Agreed, this artist has such shitty opinions that contribute nothing to the people submitting for critique
01:51 that was actually my first and only portrait and one of my first 20 paintings but I am actually very happy that he liked my brushwork and speaking of drawing I was still learning to draw with a brush in fact it was my first time drawing with a brush but I am just too happy to be featured in this video and you can't blame a 14-year-old but ouch
Maybe grid could help to get better proportions. Anyway it is good attempt)) good luck to you

Yes to part 3! These are both entertaining and educational; the perfect cocktail.
Thank you so much for the feedback on my painting! I’ll have a think and use it going forward.
@Good For Nutting mine is the ‘alien guy’ just after the smoking lion. About 11:26 in the video. It was a decent review and fair feedback.
It made sense what he said. Sharping the lines would push the character outwards, giving it more power and impact. Like the skin could be all soft and squishy, but some of the jewellery and clothing could be more sharp.
This video really bothered me, from the title to the underlying belief that there is the "right way to art". There isn't. Art is about experimentation and breaking the rules.
Oh man so close to half a million, crazy how much your channel has grown in the last years. I guess creating good content really does pay off!
"why though"...I laughed so hard!!!
Love this. I love your ability to be gentle, sarcastic, and helpful all at once. ❤️ thank you again for our meet and greet on Patreon.
If you don’t follow Alpay on Patreon yet, you should. He has created a fantastic community on discord, and has some days where we can meet him on camera. He is open, kind and HONEST… no annoying sugarcoating.
The Brian Cranston painting kinda looked like Brian Cranston trying to figure out if this was a painting of Brian Cranston
man this is pathetic so I was recommended this video by the algorithm and I'm looking at it so I decide okay so here's this guy criticizing critiquing not really critiquing really just criticizing some art so I thought I'll take a look at his art... And I'm telling you it's really bizarre that this guy who copies Hellboy or something or future Back to the Future or some movie like that and sure he's got a little Mastery of kind of a contemporary-style but it's kind of a dumb illustrational copy of a contemporary style (so he has this goofy contemporary style and he is only just barely competent at it).... I spend a little time and now I can copy this contemporary style which isn't really that appealing... It's just a weird goofy thing
Commenting for part 3 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Your reviews are actually productive, I love that, they teach as well as encourage
Quick, 2022! Can't wait to see you tackle miniature painting!
When I was in high school, my art teacher told me not to sign my artwork all big and in your face or right in the corner just sitting there because it takes away from the artwork to see a signature just splotched onto it. And I agree, I HATE seeing a signature that pulls your eye away from the work. I hide my signature in the artwork so it looks like part of the art. Like that guy who hid the name Nina in his cartoons. And if anyone tries to steal my art....well, there is a signature that is an integral part of the art that they will have a hard time explaining!
I wondered about making the signature part of the artwork. Did you ever try it in your own art work?
I started painting minis about a year ago because I got burned out with not really progressing with my standard painting.
And honestly, it let me focus on colour and rendering without having to worry about form, because the model already has that bit covered. And I would spend most of my time dilly dallying with lines and form in my general paintings.
Just started my first digital piece in over a year and it's already leaps and bounds ahead of what I had been doing, just because of what I learnt about making interesting colour harmonies and allowing myself not to get hung up on lines and fully realising the forms before I'm happy with the balance of the whole piece.
This guy seems like he don’t even understand the art lol
"Why is that way? Why he did this like this? I need an explanation"
Not everything need explanation
Hahahahahaha , "why he did this that way", hahahahah I was thinking that myself but it was like watching a car accident , I could move hahahaha and he was like , This sucks , that sucks , hey I'm Donald trump I'm being brutally honest hahahaha.
No but I love this guy's outlook on art , right to the point.
@Matthew .T say that to abstract artists. Even the most random brush strokes can trick your brain into seeing things that isn't really there. It's not planed.
Honestly I like the smearing on the boba fett painting…..
I don't completely agree with the yellow teeth complaint. Originally, teeth are meant to have a light shade of yellow due to the hue of the dentine underneath the outer layer of the teeth. This is a normal color. We have been conditioned into thinking that teeth are supposed to be super white, which isn't possible unless you are a child or are bleaching your teeth, thus damaging them in the process.
Exactly was thinking the exact same thing!
These videos are so helpful 🤩 PLEASE DO A PART THREE!!!
"The thing what this painting needs is fine lines" .... Mona Lisa: Am I a joke to you?
Are you going to actually reference a painting that is so old that all of its fine lines have faded?
Part 3! I learn so much from these videos!
This just made me decide to draw actual finished stuff more than fun sketches and open a page just so he can roast me too lol.😂
Good critiques, Alpay! Well done!
This is the first time I've seen a video where an artist actually has an opinion, instead of nice, beautiful, fantastic ! Going to check out your other videos, curious about your artwork now.
Might actually be able to learn something here.
Congrats on 500k Mr. Alpay!!🎉🎉❤
I think the first tongue girl might have had vampire teeth. And you said the painting of teeth was yellow teeth, I'm thinking they might be wisdom teeth, I kept mine, but no teeth are pure white. That would look unnatural
I did wonder if she was a vampire or maybe was meant to be and then they got into the long tongue concept, but still left in a little hint of the sharp teeth.
I also really love the "torch me" painting. "Torch me....if that's what you want." Killed me 😂 "torch me" is stoner term. You need a torch to take a dab. She is very high and even has Weed leaves on her shirt. I also love the color pallette. 10/10 in my book
I really enjoy your art critiques. You're funny and most educational! Thanks!
The girl with red hair, same thoughts, critcs, plus a question: is it a choice that the face elements (eyes, nose, mouth) are zoomed ? I first seen a way to short forehead, then all the eyes part toi big, then felt that without the face everything has good proportions then its like you stick a bigger face on it. If its not what you wanted, try to select everything on the face and make it like 80-85 % of it size because all the face elements are too big AND are too much near the face borders.. the head is the good size but the face seems 120% the size it should
Totally a style choice. I noticed that the head shape was wrong. Probably on purpose.
Would love to see part three
Yeah me too hahahahaha 😂
Definintely part 3! I didn't see mine even among those scrolled in the background. I want mine roasted, too💃
Well my painting was right there in the middle at 12:20 🥲😂
It looks great 😯
@@iaminconstantpain9524 thankyou!
Great stuff. I always learn something new watching these kind of videos.
Will I show you one of my paintings? Maybe one day when I've stopped roasting them myself.
Art is subjective. You have even said as much when it comes to your own work.
It totally is, and we got to hear, his opinion on the painting we saw. It was very interesting. I like the idea that people can look at the same painting and see and enjoy different things.
Better signature placement next time, thank you Alpay 😄

Congratulation on hitting 500k 🎉🎉🎉🎉
alpay I have an opinion about your opinions.
Well, let’s hear it!❤️
Say it
It's 2022. We need the miniatura painting! 😂
Painting teeth, I just came by "Norman Rockvell" who is an incredible artist, and I realized he is drawing allot of happy people and lots of visible teeths and mouths. Maybe it's time to talk about how to draw mouth and teeths?
The Bryan Cranston painting looks like a screen shot of a N64 Goldeneye character.
Awesome! Listen to Alpay people!!
Hahah is it wrong that I love every single one of these?
No 😁
Not in the slightest. Art is subjective.
More of this! :D thanks a lot
PART 3 I LOVE THESE I WANNA PARTICIPATE
Omg that lion, I love it.
how can i submit my art for critique if you ever intend to do part 3?

You know what I hate roasts, especially American celebrity roasts, HOWEVER......these roasts are so EDUCATIONAL every roast video I am learning so so so so much. I am really always looking forwards to the next roast video. Ps other art youtubers do roasting vids and they are so unbearable to watch. This is all class.
hello everyone! maybe somebody knows where to get feedback for your art? or platforms where we can share and develop with other art beginners?
and also where it's available to find a good mentorship/art mentor?
Okay part 3😭

Wow he actually flames his followers 😳 I like that
I’m loving it.

Enjoyed this.
Part 3! I try so hard to get your critiques but I'm never lucky enough lol.
Same 😩
I thought this was going to be a sweet encouraging video but I watched it til the end and had fun 😶
love it!
I disagree , 16:17 is badass . However I do agree with you about the tongue and most of the rest. I did like the blue robot , it looked very retro in color and style , as well as the the tightly paint sharp lined girl with the long hair with the pink background. Yeah the Japanese girl reminds me of the murals that you'd find on the walls of obscure places like bridges or an Alley on the lower Manhattan during the 80s. And I liked the last one of the video in blue and white , you said was over exposed , I don't think they were doing normal skin tones . Like you said , it's relative to the veiwer. But I found you spot on with all but 4 pieces , thats very good in my book hahaha.
😂😂😂 Hilarious but good advice honest friends are the best friends
😊🤗
I love the smoking, high ass lion 😅 it's a representation of rasta/having lionheart! The lion of Judah is a big symbol of rastafari...and you know rasta's be smoking the herb. Big ups to them! I want it 😂🙌🏾❤💛💚
I’ll have to use this #
Part three please
Alpay Efe: drawing is really important
Elizabeth Peyton & Tamara de Lempicka: …*exists*
Completely different, they actually knew how to draw. They know how to break the rules in a way that works, know the rules in order to break them.
I like the alien with ill defined lines, that's appealing to me to have that mess.
how can i participate in this?
Part 3, I enjoy these cheers bob
I usually like these videos since they give some good advice but really not a fan of the title for this one. It's not even a critique at this point.
Maybe you make a video about painters you love and those not quite?
make part 3
Yes to part 3👩🎨
Hi Alpay, could you please explain more about the abstraction on the Boba Fatt painting? I don’t understand. Thank you!
The extra splatter effects over the paining are what he called abstractions. Sometimes they look like part of the painting has peeled off. In this case he felt they where not needed.
Can we have a part 3?
