"COBRA KILLER" THANKS MARTINAUTOCONCEPTS for posting this absolute stunning Grand Sport Corvette video. Thanks also to MONGOOSE who built this replica, and also to ZAD for this for the GSC
In 62 when the split window was made for the 63 sales season, they already new that window was going to be gone in 64, it was a styling decision they permitted for one year, and when the Grandsports were being built they left the post out for that reason and the fact you cant see anything out the rear of a 63, the rear windows in the GS's were plexiglass molded one piece windows to save weight.
you are right about the window style it was made in 64 and in 63 was the split window what i know its a different model than the regular stingray so this one is called corvette grand sport, c the break light parts its different from other models this one has got 8 extra holes series between the break lights while others got nothing . ;) @bond1011
If you wanna see even more expensive try finding a '63 with the split window AND matching numbers... seen one on barret jackson and starting bid was $250,000
Such a shame GM didn't do a throwback design for the new Corvette. Looking at this beast makes me think they really blew an opportunity to make a modern version of this, instead of turning the vette into an NSX lookalike.
@sirlonghair I agree.. but corvette racing wanted a lighter car to beat the cobras. they planned on making 125 of these grand sports so they can race against ford. They only made 3 or 4 im not sure.. chevy dumped the project tho and left only the 3 that were made. the year they were made was in 63 so its a replica of a 63 grand sport. an original is one of the rarest cars in the world.
All these so called car guys commenting on them cutting out the split window. Morons, in 63 the Grand Sport did not come with a split window. Every other trim that year did but the GS did not.
Hot car it sounds so healthy ,But did you cut the center in the rear window I sorry but you don't do that to a 1963 Corvette That`s what makes it a 1963. now it looks like a 1964.
@762xpsychopathic54 It doesn't have Ford Cobra wheels. They are Halibrand style wheels that many different types of cars used. Also, a Cobra is NOT a ford. It only has a Ford engine but is a British car. If you really want to get technical about the wheels (which look great) they are GT40 style or I should say a Halibrand wheel that GT40's used a lot.
All Corvettes are made from fiberglass, it makes sense to fit a fibreglass kit to it. I dont think carbon fibre would be cost effective , and steel or aluminiun wouild be totaly pointless, that only leaves wood or paper mache, or clay perhaps?
Hey genius, fyi, the 1963 GRAND SPORT...say it with me...GRAND SPORT... didn't have a split window in the rear. Only the 1963 Sting Ray coupes did. The Grand Sport was a purpose built RACE CAR and only a handful were made. "Dumb fucking car dealers"...really?...smh
Not to mention the real thing which this replica is based on was made to compete and beat the Cobra. Do yourself a favor, sell your Corvette cuz obviously you didn't know what this was a reproduction of.
this car is bad ass to the gill's,, but them are th ugliest fender flairs i eva seeeen,, looks like a sheet metal air conditioning mechanic made them,,, this is a fiber glass body? what a crime killng the lines on one of the best american body styles ever ever

In 62 when the split window was made for the 63 sales season, they already new that window was going to be gone in 64, it was a styling decision they permitted for one year, and when the Grandsports were being built they left the post out for that reason and the fact you cant see anything out the rear of a 63, the rear windows in the GS's were plexiglass molded one piece windows to save weight.

you are right about the window style it was made in 64 and in 63 was the split window what i know its a different model than the regular stingray so this one is called corvette grand sport, c the break light parts its different from other models this one has got 8 extra holes series between the break lights while others got nothing . ;)
@bond1011

カッコ良いなぁ👍
Awesome vette, is there a forums page or something where I can find some pics of this thing.
Sick
If you wanna see even more expensive try finding a '63 with the split window AND matching numbers... seen one on barret jackson and starting bid was $250,000
That's a purdy car!
wow beutiful, where did u get those kits?? are they fiber glass?
Such a shame GM didn't do a throwback design for the new Corvette. Looking at this beast makes me think they really blew an opportunity to make a modern version of this, instead of turning the vette into an NSX lookalike.
i got a big block 502 in my hq ls monaro gts
Lets see if they can control the rear end on it. Bet you if you gonna it youll twist the rear end right off it. Looks awesome good work..
what else would you fit to a fiberglass car?
the engine sounds like the pop corn machine
Good news. It's a replica. They didn't butcher an original for this.
Sweet. B)
yeah
lol the most known feature on a 63 vette is the rear window having a split glass and they only did it that one year so in my book its still a 64
@sirlonghair I agree.. but corvette racing wanted a lighter car to beat the cobras. they planned on making 125 of these grand sports so they can race against ford. They only made 3 or 4 im not sure.. chevy dumped the project tho and left only the 3 that were made. the year they were made was in 63 so its a replica of a 63 grand sport. an original is one of the rarest cars in the world.
What are the cam specs? Roller?
I think he needs a new muffler, that one sounds broken.
Is the engine at back of the car? :o
whats the price tag on one of these?
All these so called car guys commenting on them cutting out the split window. Morons, in 63 the Grand Sport did not come with a split window. Every other trim that year did but the GS did not.
fukin sick car!!!!!
Why would you remove the split window . It's like now I'm a 64
LOL darp darp 502! darp 502!
yea i figured..
@sirlonghair no.. they cut out the divider.
its a grand sport replica. So the rear window is correct for 63
Yup the Grand Sports did not have the split rear window .
wouldn't that be a 64 no split window
is this car for sale
?
and if how much are you asking for it?
i thought all 63s have the split window?
What year is it? No window divider…insult to that year
what do you mean?
are these street legal?
Sharknado!
502? Does it require a pilots license, because that beast must fly down the road lol
@762xpsychopathic54 Cobras used them but not exclusive
To hate on this is to show outright jealousy. LOL
true
maybe it's 502hp but it's still a chevy
....I need new pants
These rear wheel wells are hideous.
Hot car it sounds so healthy ,But did you cut the center in the rear window I sorry but you don't do that to a 1963 Corvette That`s what makes it a 1963. now it looks like a 1964.
Zero Niner - there were 5 grand sports built in 1963, none of the originals had a split window - this reproduction is spot on
IT IS STREET LEGAL
@762xpsychopathic54 It doesn't have Ford Cobra wheels. They are Halibrand style wheels that many different types of cars used. Also, a Cobra is NOT a ford. It only has a Ford engine but is a British car. If you really want to get technical about the wheels (which look great) they are GT40 style or I should say a Halibrand wheel that GT40's used a lot.
why put the mustang eleanor rims on it?
+Earthly Tag why not
Earthly Tag - those were the preferred rims on the 1960's GT class racing vehicles
i think thats a '64, not a '63
22's !!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
You dont have to be a genius to know why they called this the Mongoose.
Because it is as cool as a 1980's BMX bicycle.
All Corvettes are made from fiberglass, it makes sense to fit a fibreglass kit to it. I dont think carbon fibre would be cost effective , and steel or aluminiun wouild be totaly pointless, that only leaves wood or paper mache, or clay perhaps?
WHY THE FUCK DOES IT HAVE FORD COBRA WHEELS ???
10 seconds
Dark dark green for the vet not a cobra attemptalook my first slot car dark green 63 and a red Ferrari.
Looks cool but those ricers will kick its arse...
@carsismeZ06 does it really matter? id be scared shitless to drive this on the street. too many idiots with minivans.
corvette guys need to stop making their c2 look like cobras and i own a stingray
You do know this is a c2 right?
Not to mention the real thing which this replica is based on was made to compete and beat the Cobra. Do yourself a favor, sell your Corvette cuz obviously you didn't know what this was a reproduction of.

Wow alot of stupid comments on here
Amazingly stupid.

this car is bad ass to the gill's,, but them are th ugliest fender flairs i eva seeeen,, looks like a sheet metal air conditioning mechanic made them,,, this is a fiber glass body? what a crime killng the lines on one of the best american body styles ever ever
