Lyrics:
You and me and rain on the roof
Caught up in a summer shower
Drying while it soaks the flowers
Maybe we'll be caught for hours
Waiting out the sun
You and me, we're gabbing away
Dreamy conversation, sitting in the hay
Honey, how long was I laughing in the rain with you?
Cause I didn't feel a drop til the thunder brought us to
You and me underneath a roof of tin
Pretty comfy feeling, how the rain ain't leaking in
We can sit and dry just as long as it can pour
Cause the way it makes you look makes me hope it rains some more
You and me and rain on the roof
Caught up in a summer shower
Drying while it soaks the flowers
Maybe we'll be caught for hours
Waiting out the sun

1968, I was in Vietnam and had never heard of the Lovin Spoonful. A fella bought a reel to reel tape machine and had this album on one of the reels. I put on the headset and it started to play. It was like the music started coming from in my head and was coming out into my ears, absolutely fantastic. Of course all that tech is old now and listening to headphones is nothing new to the brain but The Lovin Spoonful will always be a great memory for me.
❤️
Thank you for your service. My dad served as well. We owe all of you a debt of gratitude.
What an amazing description of the first time listening to music on headphones… many times, I have thought of and told others about the first time it happened for me, because it was so moving! To hear it described this way brings me right back, thank you so much!
im an anti theist but God love you
Thanks for your service Joe Marino Italy.
Always felt this band was very underrated. So many great songs.
I waited out the storm with my horse Stormy under a shed as I sang this song to my Beautiful Horse. Never Will Forget It.
I can picture it.
Have never ever gotten tired of this song. Such perfect lyrics.
I have two 33 1/3 records and an anthology CD of them. the records are mint condition. I was born in 1968, I first heard them on the radio in 1975, mom get the records at a garage sale in 1981. been a fan since I first heard them on the radio! 🙂
Better times❤
Of all the brilliant old songs from the 60s and 70s this one hits me with a tidal wave of emotion and nostalgia more than just about all of them. Such a beautifully written/recorded song that perfectly captures the mood of the lyrics. Luv it.
I remember playing the 45 of Rain On The Roof over and over seeing if I would eventually get sick of it. I didn't.
Takes me back to my early teens when I bought this LP. Thanks for posting.
So Beautiful Song Thankyou ❤❤
To me, the Hums got the happiest album cover, once in a while, I will think about it and I will smile.

It's only June, and I'm already in the Christmas spirit.
Can I use the word "charming"? OK, I will.
Such a sweet, sweet song. I fell in love to it....
So pretty. Thank you Sunny 🌞
Unknown quantities of spent human emotions seem to be involved in our song here, ushered in by the Donovan Leitch and Van Morrison eras.
Always loved this!
I bought this 45!
Love this sound
I fell in love with this song 1968
I'm 24 and I heard the 1930s song of the same name long before I knew this existed and of course there is no relation.

We have been destroyed seven times just because it is dirt, soil, ground. Not earth. (Bible).
