Lyrics:
Here comes Johnny singing oldies, goldies
Be-Bop-A-Lula, Baby What I Say
Here comes Johnny singing I Gotta Woman
Down in the tunnels, trying to make it pay
He got the action, he got the motion
Yeah, the boy can play
Dedication devotion
Turning all the night time into the day
He do the song about the sweet lovin’ woman
He do the song about the knife
He do the walk, he do the walk of life
Here comes Johnny and he’ll tell you the story
Hand me down my walkin’ shoes
Here come Johnny with the power and the glory
Backbeat the talkin’ blues
He got the action, he got the motion
Yeah, the boy can play
Dedication devotion
Turning all the night time into the day
He do the song about the sweet lovin’ woman
He do the song about the knife
He do the walk, he do the walk of life
Here comes Johnny singing oldies, goldies
Be-Bop-A-Lula, Baby What I Say
Here comes Johnny singing I Gotta Woman
Down in the tunnels, trying to make it pay
He got the action, he got the motion
Yeah the boy can play
Dedication devotion
Turning all the night time into the day
And after all the violence and double talk
There’s just a song in all the trouble and the strife
You do the walk, you do the walk of life

Back in 1988 My daughter was burned in a house fire. She was flown to Shriners hospital in Boston for treatment. While driving to the Hospital, I played this song over and over again while fighting back tears. To this day I can't listen to this song without tearing up. My daughter now has a Doctorate in Physical therapy and just received her Masters in Hospital Management !
You're a good sort mate. Love from Oceania.
Wow. Horrible. Good you're okay now! Best wishes to You and your Daughter! And congratulations for her!

Nostalgia is truly a complex feeling. Equal parts happy equal parts sad wrapped around in longing and gratitude
This was my grandfathers favourite song I often heard him listening to this every time I came home due to him and my nan living with us and I remember the atmosphere he created around this song, even when he became terminally ill he still listened and loved his music, it will be a month in 2 days I have only just had the courage to listen to this song, I love you Grandad and thank you for all the memories you gave us and keep doing the walk of life,1954-2023
Es mágia la música los recuerdos felices agitan la memoria .
What a sweet legacy ...in music..to leave you. ROCK ON.
So sorry of your loss. God bless you and your beautiful family.
I would love to have this song played at my funeral as friends & relatives R leaving church
I'm so sorry for your loss. My world fell apart when I lost my grandad. I held his hand 3 days and nights as he slipped away. We' kept him in the house he built when he immigrated to the US. I grew up there.
I've never returned since the day he died. I don't know if I ever could just drive past it. That house is him. He poured so much off himself into it, it's not the same w/out him.
I recommend this song for the people who fight depression and anxiety. We deserve to be loved and to be happy.
That is very true Emmanuel,my wife has just left me am listening to this song and men it's really comforting ☺️ guess am just going through walk of life only that am alone.

Mark Knoffler was the walking, living breathing, epitome of what music is like, if only it were a human being, living, breathing, walking, singing, playing guitar, singing.
He made the guitar sing, and gave the words himself

He is still alive
My dad used to put this tune during road trips...Those were the good old golden days..Tribute to dad...

Miss my dad too.
What can i say . A time less tune ! We played this at our late father's funeral in January 2016 he loved Dire Straits with absolute passion. Whenever i hear it on the radio i always think of Dad and he is talking too me . Love and miss you so much Dad xxx

well come on back and listen to it
The 80's looked like a brighter place to be alive. It's surreal to me as a 23 y/o to watch this. I love this song.
It was amazing. I wish everyone could experience it. The 90s were great too, but got darker, in tone, in clothes and colors. More serious and more about money.
I was a teenager when I brought home a Dire Straits cd. When I was playing this song, my dad told me to turn up the volume. Ever since, this was one of my dads favorite songs that came from my music collection instead of the other way around. My dad passed in 2015, when I miss him this is a song I play and thank him for the times we shared. He was definitely the one person I am happy to say we shared the walk of life together ❤
My dad passed away in August, been listening to all of his music i remember always hearing this one. It's the best 👌
🥰
I'm envious. Both my parents were monsters. I thank God every day that I was able to get away from them. That's one reason I like this song so much. It picks me up!
I’m crying to rear at it!
Keep his memory alive
I can relate... I learned it from my dad. For me to have loved music the way I do today was because of such sound from back then. I was so young I could not yet understand English and these taught me about 60% of the English I know.
Dad used to tell me stories of how this was his best friends song before he passed. Now both of them have passed. Do the walk of life both of you. Miss you everyday

I’m 16, and I agree with you.
Your life is a very special gift! Great taste in music too.
This is going to be my father's exit song at his funeral, currently listening to it repeatedly to try numb myself to it but of course, there's 0 chance this is going to work! I'm only 25 he was my world, 55 is also way too young to leave this earth. On the other hand, he definitely did the song justice and did a huge walk of life with great taste in music like this band. RIP Dad
He was loved and did the walk of life - perfect existence.
