John Sebastian, hats off to a one of a kind songwriter. So good McCartney was compelled to write Good Day Sunshine after hearing it.
C Synch, I think that Paul Simon was inspired by this song to write "59th Street Bridge Song".

While of course there were hundreds of fantastic Beatles songs, especially around the time of Revolver, this is a far superior song to Good Day Sunshine.

Same. I just remember my older sister always played it and than I forgot about it. I found it again and now all my childhood memories are coming back.

It pre-dated Revolution by a couple of years. Musicians just play what they hear in their heads. Lennon must have heard it dozens of times on the radio. Lovin Spoonful were quite big in Britain in the 60's.

Every lyric site has some nonsense about 'dropping my load' and 'a pie in my face for being a sleepy bull toad'.
It doesn't sound like that and also seems very stupid nonsensical words and out of place with the rest of the song.
