People like Mr Quirk is why cycling & bikes are so addictive. Good one Francis.
More of this and James’ stuff please. Really educational
Rob is somebody I could listen hours to. Always something technically interesting to tell, that bloke.
I want one of Robs bike because he is always smiling. Those bikes have to be made with love.
More Bike Build please - brilliant
My grandfathers custom BMX frames were all brazed butted tubes and they got hammered. He made his own jigs too. The codtly bits were the reaming tools and expanders from campy. People get confused with brass and silver soldering. I knew guy that made a bed out of fancy tubing only to have it collapse at 3 in the morning much to his wife's horror. He used silver solder😮
.
Love the intro to this one, Francis. I really enjoy seeing the London streetscape. Its amazing to see Rob work his magic in such a small, out of the way shop! Nicely done.
Excellent content, really interesting listening to Rob.
Good one Francis, love Robs stuff......two thumbs up
Nothing better than a Francis video on a Sunday, good shit man
Super cool....very interesting.....thanks very much...learn a lot watching this channel cheers
this guy knows his stuff!! a q&a should definitely happen...
Bike build Wednesdays. On a Sunday.
Great British craftsman, hopefully a not a dying breed, thank God for people like him!!
Interesting jig alignment. I did something similar with laser pointers and mirrors when I ran a college darkroom to put the enlargers into proper alignment.
Can't believe how much I learned watching that ! 👍
Beautiful bike building.
Loved the entertaining and educational stuff about frame building.
Wah the intro vibes are amazing
Great video, just in time as I've finished writing my Engineering Thesis on a way to research corrosion on fatigue of steel frames!
Would love to hear more on this! Email hello@quirkcycles.com
This was a crazily informative video given the title. Really great to hear from people who really know what they are talking about and not just blagging. Also that bca jig is genius, tempted.
I learn so much from your videos!
I had plans to build a jig way back in the 80's, it was on the list but it came after speaker stands and a mahoosive tripod for a telescope all which got built. Sadly the decimation of British heavy industry back then beat me to the draw and the engineering workshop I was in got closed down and sold off for scrap. Sad times.
Always great to hear Master Quick talk bikes though!
That boy Bobby knows his stuff 👌🏻
They say you should learn at least one new thing per day ... this was a banner day!! Great content!!
Maybe one day you can do a series on one of Bobby Q's bikes, start to finish.
V. Talented man
Super interesting more please
We could take Rob and James, make them sitting on a table, let them chat and listen for hours. Also jon snow the nutritionist. So much to learn
That was a good one and the one before was pretty decent too. Lots of great information!
I love your haphazard style. Just found your channel and I'm addicted.
Love This video
MY DUD.. hear this... I freaking love your videos bro. Great things are ahead for you and this channel. LETS GO!!!!
So good 👍👍
Thee best cycling content on You Tube
Mr. Quirk is the only steel frame bike builder I know of who has completed the TCR. Anybody looking for a machine to complete that or something similar needs to have a serious look at what he has to offer.
Bobby Quirk! Bobby Quirk!
awesome episode! Sunday bikebuilding every sunday, please!
yes more
What is the advantage of the sintered stainless over 3D printing in wax and having the part investment cast in stainless? Generally the sintered stainless is more brittle than cast and a pig to work on afterwards if you need to drill or tap due to the hardness.
The pieces are printed with an internal lattice and have a wall thickness between 0.5-0.75mm making these pieces much lighter than cast ones. Also no need to make moulds plus changes can be implemented instantly.
The video relating to the huge chain ring is worth sharing "down below"...
In the land of giant turtles, and headless gnomes, there is a small workshop where metal is worked with magic.
Yeeeeaaaaah
What a man bobby quick!
Bobby quick Bobby quick
Love the inside look of bike building!! Francis can you clear something up. Do you pronounce mama and mum the same way?
I need to get a bike from down south to North whats best courier to use would you say.
Lived in UK and I forgot how dark it gets in the afternoon….Thoroughly depressing
Another great video. Would love to hear Robs view on stainless frames. Avoids the corrosion issue but are there any drawbacks in terms of weld quality and fatigue?
Stainless has the same qualities as steel but with higher corrosion resistance and material hardness. Because of this it is much harder to shape meaning there are limits to designs. It’s also two to three times more expensive and harder to weld.

Love these videos, more of the same please. P.s how much does it cost for a custom frame build by Quirk cycles?
Thanks for the support. Prices start from £1795. Head over to the website to see details or send an email to hello@quirkcycles.com
Learn to TIG Weld Francis and make your dream Frame.
What kit is Rob wearing?
Has bobby quick ever built a lugged frame?
Literally never thought about salt and turbo training. My bike is set up in the front room and I can see all the white streaks over the fork. Gonna give that a clean me thinks...
Towel over the stem does the trick, keep those headset bearings going longer!
I do the same as Francis, except I use a towel. Works a treat 🙄

Science Sunday on a Monday 👍👨🎓new feature?
First of all, thats the dreambike! What cycling cloths is Rob wearing?
Thanks and Podia.cc
Chris needs a 107 tooth chainring for next year
Thoughts about T47 bottom brackets??
Chris has one on his curve, runs nice !
It’s a good format for frame builders. Solves creaking issues of PF30. Only gripe is the limited range of bottom brackets but that’s changing. Does add a bit of weight to frame though.
Will Mr. Quirk get into building Titanium bikes in the future?
I’m interested in the material but need to o more research as the fatigue life of titanium seems quite short but this is purely from an experiential viewpoint.
More custom frame porn (ooops) info please. Great video as per.
Francis this was an incredible episode. Was getting fucking tired of JAM HQ, no offence. That dude knows his metals.
