手技TEWAZA「東京染小紋」tokyo some komon dyeing／伝統工芸 青山スクエア Japan traditional crafts Aoyama Square

小紋の始まりは室町時代に遡ることができますが、広く小紋が染められるようになったのは江戸時代になってからのことです。
全国から集まる大名の裃（かみしも）の染めを行うようになり、産地が形成されました。
At the beginning of the 17th century in Edo (present-day Tokyo) , Tokyo-some-komon was used for regular attire of Edo-period samurai warriors while in the castle. Later, in the 17th century, it became widely appreciated among the commoners for kimono.

If I had known when I was young that there were all of these wonderful things to learn........ Youth really is wasted on the young. They are so lucky today to have youtube to learn about these things. I have a lifetime behind me that I feel I could have learned so much more........ But I am learning it now, so better late than never. And thank you Aoyama Square for showing us these beautiful people and their skill and excellence in all areas of craft and art.
