    You guys! This video is finally here, and I'm just as excited as you are. If you've been around for a minute - 2009 anyone? -, this is very much the highly anticipated follow-up to Ceiling Fan Display In My Garage - The Old Setup (formerly Garage Fans, Now Complete). You thought 17 fans were impressive then, now we're looking at 26 fully functional ceiling fans all separately controlled. Continued viewership from my loyal viewers is the only way this came to fruition. You all helped to fund this project through your constant views, and I don't think I would have gone through such immense effort to make this so incredibly amazing if nobody was here to watch it. Thank you so much, now let's get this thing to a million views! Much more to come.
    Thank you for hitting another MILLION milestone on this video. It's been so fulfilling to see how much enjoyment people are getting from this new display.

      I've been thinking about things like that, how cool it would be to do like a full Casablanca display sometime. Maybe if they celebrate another Casablanca Month for another anniversary down the line. It'd be pretty limited to what, like Casablanca, Hunter, and Emerson to do a full display of each? I don't think I have 26 of too many other brands. Some sections of brands would be cool for filler videos sometimes, I suppose.

    I like how you showed medium speed as every fan have their own different medium speed. For fans with four speeds I guess you select one of the two middle speeds according to the blade diameter for it to not be almost like a high or still too much like a low. Do you find that the Gerbar fan spoils the general noise level of the other fans as it performs like a portable fan? Imagine being able to do this at this scale in a room that is not in a basement with a lot of windows so no need to turn on lights during the day.

    • @vfandm
      @vfandm  Před 7 lety

      On the 4 speed ones I went medium-high as opposed to medium-low, which I figured would probably be overall too slow. The Saturn and Stealth I went speed 4, again to keep it on the faster end. Actually, I really don't have much issue with the noise level of the Duplo. Right within range of the fan, it can be a little noisy as you saw on the video, but move a fan or two over any direction and it's really not too bad. Normally I fine-tune it more to where it doesn't rattle, that helps a lot. Even on by itself, if I move around to other areas of the space I don't really notice it that much.

    OK here are my notes:
    1. It would have totally put the icing on the cake if you had a fan on the test/display rig you could have included in the demo.
    2. I was waiting for "showroom mode"-- where you turn off all the fluorescent/utility lights and just have light from the fans, sconces, signs, etc.
    3. LEDs or incandescents in the fans?
    4. I personally would really appreciate a video where you demoed/discussed all the fans that are on wall controls other than on/off switches and why you picked each control for each fan
    5. Even though you have already demoed the fans individually on your channel, I would suggest demoing them individually in the new install. You can either film it as one long video and then cut it up, or film them individually and then splice it together. But when I do individual demos in the museum and then splice it together, those videos get a lot of views.

    • @vfandm
      @vfandm  Před 7 lety

      1. I purposely had nothing on the display rig, I knew some people wouldn't like it too. It seems counterintuitive, but I consider them separate spaces and was trying to focus on that area as little as possible for this video. I would've just shut the lights down, but I need as much light as I can get in there.
      2. I wanted to do that but in the majority of the space it's way too dark right now without the fluorescents to even bother, I need to get more ambient lighting in place before I go there. You can look forward to that in future videos.
      3. Incandescents right now. LEDs will come, but I'm not bothering grabbing them until I put up more of said ambient lighting and decide if I can axe certain light kits, etc. Personally speaking, I don't need to load up to find myself with a huge excess of spare bulbs. I'm going to need a various inventory, but I need to plan that more which I'm not prepared to do yet.
      4. I'm trying to figure out how I would elaborate on that for a video, there's not much reasoning to any of them besides that they're functional to the fans they're paired with. The exception is the Evergo choke, it had the specific childhood reason.
      5. I'll keep it in mind. I have so much stuff lurking in the background that has yet to be properly documented that I don't usually make time for stuff that's been done before. I'll do remakes to bring things up in quality because I like to represent quality in my brand, but beyond that the repetitive stuff just drives me personally insane regardless of the stats.

    • @dspiffy
      @dspiffy Před 7 lety

      There's a reason you picked solid state v. capacitor based, and if capacitor based, how many speeds and what values. Not to mention I am not entirely sure which fans have which. I would be interested. But then again my videos focus a lot on this-- which controls can you use with which fans and why.

      I dampened it because, for some reason, when it's allowed to sound the fan is very unresponsive. I thought the remote was dying, don't even remember how I discovered that silencing it made it work exponentially better. I didn't really consider a main kill until I started thinking about doing this video. That's really the only time I would ever use it/them, with the panel right there I'd just shut the breaker off if I had to. I don't really know that it's worth going back and putting in either, it's impossible to get spindown perfectly on camera in this space anyways. Spindown is actually pretty good when you stand in the display/test rig space, you can see almost everything. If it were me I would rig a relay or contactor but I love making circuits like that so it would be worth it to me even if I only used it once or twice.

    Does the Stealth not beep ?

      I opened up the remote and stuck some paper in to silence the piezo (completely reversible, or at least it was when I did it). For some reason, when it was able to beep, the fan was very unresponsive. It's hardly missed a beat now since I silenced it, though reverse sometimes still fails to work right. Some weird thing with the piezo function sucking up an excess of power and weakening the signal I think is what was hypothesized when I asked other people about it.

    At 243 why does that one has a really horrible noise

    • @vfandm
      @vfandm  Před 5 lety

      It's the typical motor hum caused by a variable speed control.

    Why did some of the fans need a boost to get started?

    • @vfandm
      @vfandm  Před 6 lety

      Variable speed not trimmed properly, for the most part. Most of them were trimmed at the old house, there are likely variances in the power supply at the new place that require them to be adjusted again. Also the nickel Original has a bit of a rough spot that needs servicing. I've never fully gone through and cleaned it out, probably just a little debris in the bearings. It always worked fine with the original blades, but the larger span blades currently on it are just heavy enough that the rough spot catches at low speed startup.
