      Edit: and game space and was never made in one not if you have sonic 3 and sonic and Knuckles and put them together you will have the full game plus you get knuckles as a character to play as.

      You know what, I actually found it harder than the original, because
      1) It's much faster
      2) It's better guarded - only hit it specific moments, unlike the original, which you can hit whenever it's not in the air
      3) You can wait out the original and pick your shots -- this one will push you off a cliff
      4) Those infuriating invincibility frames. My thumbs were trained to Sonic OG games and itch to hit the boss as fast as possible aaargh !@#%!@
      You can cheese it and most other bosses with rings, but that takes a fair amount of luck.

    I haven’t seen anyone point out, unless I somehow missed it, that the little Amy dolls in the gachapon machine are based off of Tails Doll. I kinda wish they went all out and made doll versions of everyone (Tails, Amy, Knux, etc.), but that was a neat little touch nonetheless. @Mechasonicrocks Před 3 lety +5

      @@GlitchanBlack Dunno about BEST, as it had some flaws; At times the rubber-band physics of the game’s “buddy system” were frustrating, and I think five acts per stage was a bit much, and some had less areas to reach high speeds than others. Exploration-type levels in Sonic games are fine, but this game had too many. Also, you don’t really get any huge bonus for collecting all the “Chaos Rings”; They’re mostly just to keep the whole “Chaos Emerald collection” gimmick going, although the background about them in the original Japanese story was pretty cool. All-in-all, Knuckles Chaotix is a fun-yet-flawed hidden gem of a game.

    • @TailsClock
      @TailsClock Před 3 lety +2

      The Saturn never had any Sonic games on it. All 4 of the core ones were on the Megadrive. With some also being on the Master System as inferior versions. And then there are the Sega CD ones which make up the rest shown here. I don't mean to make fun of you, but you picked 4 consoles and only one of them was really right. It's pretty funny.

    • @Torthrodhel
      @Torthrodhel Před 3 lety +1

      @@TailsClock you never played the MS ones, did you? They weren't "inferior versions", because they weren't versions at all. They were completely different games of their own with different zones, storylines (such as they were back then) and everything. The OP is absolutely right to list MS / game gear. Saturn was the only mistake.

      As you said @@Torthrodhel it's amazing to call the master system one as inferior, he maybe never tried them at all, i bought back a master system (a master system 1 with the card reader) just to be able to play sonic 2 after a friend showed it to me and trying Sonic Chaos at a Master System demo station in a shopping mall (and it was an amazing sonic). I was a nut of Sonic back in the day, i bought a Game Gear just for Triple Trouble. The only moment i got out of Sonic was when Sonic 3D was released, i got the Mega Drive AND the Saturn version, the Saturn version had better song which for most of them where re recorded and used in Sonic Adventure Dreamcast (I saw Sonic adventure being demo for Dreamcast i got tears and started to save to have one on EU release). I regret i sold my Saturn with Sonic Jam, the 3D part where Sonic walk thru museum, memorabilia and play the old game was feeling cool for the time, but after comparing Croc Playstation and Saturn back in the day, it was clear the Saturn was having tough time to really cope with real time 3D. I only regret Sonic Mania's super sonic isn't more like the Hyper Sonic mode of Sonic 3 & Knuckles with the directional double jump and it's flash, maybe too tough to implement with Sonic's already new possibility in Mania?

    • @Torthrodhel
      @Torthrodhel Před 3 lety +2

      @@johannherveux1490 I mean Sonic Mania was obviously made with a love of the entire series in mind, including the Master System titles, given the Silver Sonics used in the boss fight, as well as assorted other references. :)
      Shame they didn't go for a full level from any of those games (Sky High could've been iconic, right?), but I guess when you make a game you want to self-impose some limits so the project doesn't run away into overfeature hell. Wherever you strike a balance it has to be somewhere, and they went with the more known-and-played mainstream and stuck with that. Fair enough.
      My guess with Hyper Sonic is that they are saving that for a sequel probably. Really hope a sequel's in the works!

    I think this means that Sonic Mania takes place in the spin off time line. This means that after Sonic Generations, Young Robotnik made new traps for Sonic, these being the Game Gear and Spin off games. This means all those wierd games that never seemed to fit like Sonic labyrinth, Sonic Spinball, and Sonic the Fighters are all part of their own time line. Remember how weird it was seeing Sally and co in Spinball? Thats because they are the friends Sonic makes within the Game gear related time line.
