Fun fact about Ball Hog: originally they were in Green Hill Zone and instead of shooting balls forwards, they dropped balls downwards. This verion of the Ball Hog was previously only ever seen in early screenshots, but recently, a beta build of StH1 was uncovered which contained this early Ball Hog.
Fun fact: The reason they appeared in Sonic Mania is because it's an advanced version of every Sonic Game.
The "fun fact" line is BS.
Also this is not the Sonic game to do the Advanced / Use stage themes from previous games.

Also the dropping flames from Gohla in 6:01 are from Sonic 2. You can find them in debug mode in Chemical Plant Zone both in the original version or the 2013 remaster

Yeah Motobug is the second most common badnik
Those asterons were a pain in the freaking ass! Just as I got to the very top of the screw, one of those guys would pop and knock me all the way back down.
Those numbers near the score in sonic 2 mean that the player has debug mode
I was surprised that he didn't start with motobug, until a realized it was going in alphabetical order
