WTF Happened to VINCE VAUGHN?

- If you followed indie film in the 90s, Vince Vaughn was at the center of a legendary tale. As the story goes, in order to get permission to used the theme from Jaws in the film Swingers, Doug LIman screened the film for Steven Spielberg’s approval. Not only did Stevie Boy allow them to use the scary shark tune but the legendary director knew he had to work with whoever was playing Trent Walker. And, he did just that when he cast Vince Vaughn in his Jurassic Park sequel, The Lost World. Spielberg instantly knew that Vince Vaughn was superstar material and he was correctomundo. Over the last nearly 30 years, he has given us some of the best comedic performance mixed in with some bone chilling anti-heroes. But it seems in the past few years Vaughn has slowed down his output to focus on smaller roles in more meaningful projects. Is that a good thing? oOr a bad thing? Or just a thing? It is time we take a look at just WTF happened to Vince Vaughn, who we still think is pretty money.

Old School, wedding crashers, couples retreat, dodgrball, and more plus all the side characters. Vince Vaughn is an absolute legend. He's got some underrated gems as well. This man was a huge part of my childhood
Vince Vaughn's fast verbal rants are awesome. His roles in Lost World, Old School, and Swingers are hilarious.
Have you seen Clay Pigeons? It's from 1999 it's a dark comedy with Joaquin Phoenix as well, and Vince is amazing.
Can't forget "Made"
Have you seen wedding crashers?
I always loved also his serious supporting roles in "Fighting with my Family", "Into the Wild" & "Hacksaw Ridge"
Those were amazing roles he played too!
Vince Vaughn is such a legend, my man needs a good script tho, it has been a while.
Many of these comments are 50 shades of Andrew Cunanan, just waiting for inevitable news that one of you followed through🚨
Not gonna lie this man did two actually legendary fucking hilarious performances in "Old School" & "Wedding Crashers". Two always rewatchable and enjoyable comedies. He was great in "Swingers" and "Made" but his run in the 2000s movies with "Dodgeball", "Be cool", "Anchorman", "Mr. & Mrs. Smith", & "Starsky and Hutch", he was always excellent and funny to watch
no matter what. I got respect for Vince Vaughn cause he has so many all time classics that still make me laugh
He still active trying to get work in films, big rolls and small rolls to support anything at will?🤔
@@glennjthompson332 explain? Is it a question?
@@onlyonem0llyy Yes.🙄
@@glennjthompson332 oh! Idk if he is or not tbh idc wut movie he’s in I’ll still watch it
Fanboys for a middle aged actor who's best work was decades ago? @@onlyonem0llyy
"Freaky" (2020) was actually a really fun body swap movie, one of the last times I enjoyed his performance in a movie. Even if the movie was a bit too gory and cheesy at times, it was definitely a good performance and a fun movie
😈👍
The part where she is tied up...was too funny. "Isn't role playing a sexual game? Uh huh!"
Super brilliant!
He totally committed to that role. When he was expressing the female personality you can tell he was all in for that one.
I absolutely LOVE The Cell. It's an incredibly beautiful horror piece. It's pure art. The movie was all about the dreamscape.
It's so great and people don't get it.
I love re watching it!!
I think his performance in "Brawl in Cell block 99", was the stuff of legend. Really gritty and grim role, he was robbed at least a nomination for a golden globe in my opinion that year, really hard movie to watch but powerful performance
Legend
It's such a weird flick because on the surface it has such massive C-movie perhaps B-movie on a good day vibes, but Vince is just fantastic in it. And somehow the movie just works for me.
And as they say in the video, they really take use of his large stature, which i feel like he's never, ever been "known" for, even though he's 6´5 and objectivly towered over most of his co-stars. His height never seemed to play a role in any of his work prior to this.
Then again, the movies he's most "famous" for he has happend to play along other quite tall men. In The lost world he plays against 6´4 Jeff Goldblum and in Anchorman he plays next to 6´3 Will Ferrell.
But usually someone that tall tends to end up as typecast as the "Big guy", which Vaughn obviously has somehow escaped through his career.
I’ve heard of that movie bro. I’ve never seen it. I like that is fine. I’m a fan of him. I have to check it out. I’ve never seen that one. I heard. It looks pretty good.🤘🤘
His best i love that movie
What a movie, his performance gives me chills. Has to be the least amout of words he's ever spoke in a movie.
Vince still lives rent free in my head! I still quote him from Old School, Anchor Man, and The Internship. I realize that times change as well as people's taste in movies, however Vince will forever be a comedic genius to me.
Vince was awesome in HBO True Detective Season 2. That is one of the most underrated seasons of that show better yet probably one of Vince's most extremly underrated and to me one of his best serious roles. Him,Collin Farell,Taylor Kitsch and Rachael McAdams really gelled together great awesome cast also.
I second that!
💯
Twas
Brawl in Cell Block 99 was brutal and sad and fuqing amazing!! Great vid!
Every December I watch Fred Clause a few times. Vince has never had a bad performance, the man has energy.
Watched it last night
Loved him in True Detective and Into the Wild.
He took way too much shit from "critics" in True Detective. Yeah, it took him a few episodes to find the character but find him he did.
@@Shadowman4710 The issue with season 2 was the underlying story connecting everything. It was too confusing and drawn out. The season had some of the most badass, ugly, dark characters with some incredible scenes (much like season 1) but just didnt have a foundation to stand on in my opinion.
Ive always felt Vince Vaughn was underrated as a actor he one of those actors that he good in almost every movie Ive seen in its just the movie may or may not be good that Psycho remake was bad!! but Swingers was great! etc
Shoutout Minnesota for making Vince Vaughan
18:01 Dude I'm all about Brawl! 😆🤬 And Freaky!
Vince Vaughn gettin to use that Imposing 6'5 hight advantage in Movie 🥺💪🏽💯
I was bummed out when they cancelled the movie, "Outsourced". It was supposed to be Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn crossing the border to Mexico to regain their jobs. It would have been hiiiiilarious.
Seeing all of these films make me realise how much of a great career he's had
I love his style of comedy. No one does a rant quite like Vince Vaughn (except maybe Denis Leary).
Thanks for doing this on Vince. He’s one of my favorite actors that’s been in some of my favorite movies. Love his work.
He was so good in Freaky so scary
Be cool is the funniest movie i remember him in. He was absolutely hilarious
He also appeared in curb your enthusiasm last season’s as a character there with larry david which is really great
Swingers, Old School, Dodgeball, Wedding Crashers, & Brawl in Cell Block 99 are tremendous films.
Those comedy films are some of my favorite comedy films of all time and Brawl in Cell Block 99 is one of my favorite gritty dark films.
He is a top 5 comedic actor for me! And he has real acting chops when he turns it on
It's good to take a break when you're working as hard as he did. Good for you.
Now, let's see whatta else ya got!❤
Great video!
I love it when A-list actors take side roles. Like Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder. It's great to see them bringing a different vibe to these non-leading characters. Vince Vaughn is a definite plus for any movie no matter what the role.
Yo, everyone really needs to check out that Return to Paradise, for Vaughn as well as Joaquin Phoenix. Really caught me by surprise when it just happened to be coming on at the right time.
True Detective Season 2 was a good run. It was screwed by following Season 1's masterpiece of a ride and that Marketing hadn't been clear this was more of a Fargo series with each season supposed to be it's own thing.
Whole frikkin video I'm just waiting for Brawl on Cell Block 99. Oh my God is that movie good. Vince's acting is pure perfection.
Vince has the best laugh ever. Couples Retreat and The Watch are two movies I can watch over n over. And Dragged Across Concrete is probably my favourite film of his. Brawl in cell block 99 is good too. His performances are solid and he shows he’s got what it takes to play a gritty dramatic role. I also love the director of those films.
The Cell is a lost masterpiece. Vincent D,...(not even going to try) kills it.
Agreed! I saw it in the theater and watch it again every couple years. Never gets old.
@@tmilker you even have to give Jlow props.
I grew up watching Vince and I loved every one of his films. I miss seeing him on the big screen regularly.
"Brawl in cell block 99" was disgusting, and I loved it!
Vince is underappreciated. Clay Pigeons is a masterpiece.
I recently saw him in an underrated movie called Queenpins the story of coupon defrauding gone wrong, it’s like War Dogs with coupons, I mainly watched it for Paul Walter Hauser as I’m a huge Cobra Kai fan and Vince and Paul together had a ton of good chemistry and the story is actually quite interesting, I do recommend if you’re able to find it anywhere
Vince and PWH are great in it, I agree 💯.
I love Clay Pigeons! I haven't thought about that movie in years. I'm definitely going to watch it after work.
He’s got so many classic moments. Most of them around a dinner table. Like in “Swingers” when he says, “Ya grows up!” Or the scene in “Wedding Crashers” when he’s like, “He’s joking, feels so good when he jokes.”
I always wanted them to make a Dead Rising movie with Vince Vaughn cast as Frank West. I thought he had the perfect look to play the character. He's too old now, of course. And no one but me cares about Dead Rising anymore (especially after Dead Rising 4 sank the franchise). But still, he was my dream casting for my favorite video game if it had ever been made into a film. And then they did make a direct-to-video side story movie but they cast Rob Riggle which was... interesting.
I always thought Johnny Knoxville when he was younger would have been perfect.
What a video!!!!!❤
Dodgeball was Hilarious 😆👍
Vince is a gifted actor. Very funny and can be serious. Brawl in cell block 99 was so violent but meaningful. He should have got best supporting actor in Hacksaw Ridge.
I miss him. One of my favourites.
He was memorable in the underappreciated "Clay Pigeons." I also liked "The Locusts." My favorite, because of the difficult decision making involved, is "Return To Paradise."
Clay Pigeons is one of my absolute favorite movies, it's definitely underrated.
Wedding Crashers is a comedy CLASSIC
Ma!! The meatloaf!!!
LOL@@horatiohuffnagel7978
Couples retreat is def up there. Loved that film. Funny af
Gotta love some Vince Vaughn
I forgot he was in the cell!!! That was a great movie.
I remember Dilemma. Watched it maybe 10 or 11 years ago, but it was nice
Completely unrelated but what was that hendrix style tune at the end??
He was tremendous in Return to Paradise, The Prime Gig, and A Cool Dry Place.
You have forgotten to mention that he is a regular on one of the biggest current shows. He is a Funkhouser on Curb your Enthusiasm!
dam fanatics!
nobody will ever convince me that the 'cancells' are not psychopaths in power trips by now.
any f.. excuse is good enough to scrap anyone at their whim.
I had no idea Vince made so many movies...
I missed on a lot of those.
made really is a blast to watch to this day.
it s difficult not to love him and Jon.
good show bro.
As he got older his roles got better and proved his range. He’s doing just fine. Let’s not believe because he’s not in the limelight, that’s he’s not relevant.
"I hope you flip your bike over and knock your two front teeth out! You selfish son of a bitch! You leave me in the trenches taking grenades, John!" Love this versatile actor, good to know he's still acting. Thank you Joblo for this video!!
I used to have that quote as my ringtone.
That's cool, I didn't realize he was in that many films.
Old School and Dodgeball are some of the best comedies ever.
Dragged Across Concrete is a full fledged masterpiece.
Great actor Vince Vaughn been in a lot of great iconic famous movies comedy playing a bad guy in a movie suits him same as good guy in movies also
I have to watch Brawl in Cell Block 99 now. Never seen it or even heard of it. Must see it though
I recently watched four Christmases last night for the first time, it was funny and had a good cast
Hrs great. I hope to see more of him.
Money video JoBlo! Thank you!
Delivery man was funny and heartwarming at the same time like The Interns but much more deep due to the content and much funnier due to the way it cuts. It is an underrated film that co stars Chris Pratt being very funny.
Steve Buscemi is really a badass and hero.
Top 5 best ever actor!!
christmas is my favorite. vince vaughn is my favorite. fred claus is definitely in my top ten christmas movies. 🤭
Swinger 2 with both friends living in vegas with another 2 or 6 failed relationships between them would be awesome.
Vaughn said that Jon F wrote a sequel script and it was brilliant with that as its theme. Jon said it'd be even funnier if they waited to make it in their mid fifties. Hmmm, we're there now, baby!
@@pablosonic892 i love stories. When i watch a film. I always make up a sequel or prequel in my mind. Or i say, "wouldnt it be better like this?"
Brawl is so underrated. It goes from slowly violent, to ultra violent, to cartoonishly vionent, its a piece of art.
I really enjoyed his movie freaky it was super fun
"im a little too traumatized for a scone".
Greatest words ever said in cinematic history
LOVED Clay Pigeons...highly underrated film
Found it! From one of our Mothers and a QUEEN Maya Angelou
“If you only have one smile in you give it to the people you love.Don’t be surly at home, then go out in the street and start grinning “Good morning “ at total strangers “
Maya Angelou
His career reminds me of Stacy Keach in the 70's or farther back maybe a Joseph Cotton type actor. I think he is top shelf in supporting roles but not sure he has ever belonged in starring roles. I did like him very much in True detective season 2 I think he was great in that.
Im going to check out that violent one.
Have you done a vid on Matt and Trey's Baseketball??
The Watch was awesome!
What happened? His fast-talking yet-still-charming schtick was amazing and had it's place in history - but it ran dry. You can't do that forever. Good on him for diversifying.
The Cell was such a good movie, so underrated.
I wish Vince and Quentin would do something together
Big fan of Vince Swan. And Fred Claus was a very well done movie. The therapy session with brothers of famous people was hilarious.
Vince is a fn icon!!! Straight money 💰
The Interns was incredibly acted and well put together. It was 100% funny and had so many great moments. Aside from some plotholes surrounding irl working in tech, it was a great movie. I never saw the theatrical release however so maybe I am biased.
Vince Vaughn is a beast 😍. Love him.
Legend 🔥
Dude, neighborhood watch is one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen
Its so good
I love every film Vince is in. It does not matter. He is great.
What you mean what happened to him ? I don’t think he ever went away. I saw him on curb your enthusiasm. He appears on multiple episodes and seasons too?
The cell is where I remember him First such a great movie a recommendation to everyone
Freaky was actually pretty good
Definitely one of my favorite actors, that’s my guy! Especially wedding Crasher. Bruh just getting old leave him alone
I know it's not that popular, I love 'Be Cool' 😁
Just a shame we missed out on comedic talents between 1997-2002 cause he wanted to do more dramatic stuff. Could’ve had even more classics
I had a soft spot for Delivery Man, a remake of Starbuck. Though not as good as the original, I liked Vince's take on it.
Dragged across the concrete is a great movie.
Clark Duke’s directorial debut “Arkansas”, is a wonderful film.
WHOA. scrolling I realized I haven’t thought about Vince Vaughn in like 10-12 years.
Still trying to get over True Detective season 2 :(
He can make something average, ordinarily watchable, suck.
