You can use google scholar.

As an email. You can screenshot the email or print the email as a pdf. If you don't know how to do that, just do a quick google search.

Yes. The cold email is to get a supervisor. Some universities require you to get a supervisor before you apply.
Other schools don’t require that, but people contact supervisors with the hope to get a research assistant role to help with funding
