Shelf type printing with wind blowing your shirt straight into your stomach can be a problem. What I have found is that the ability to move your holster side to side, and up and down on your belt is a huge benefit. The sidecar style holsters aren't bad, but they don't allow for finding a good spot for your holster where it conceals the best. It can really only go in one place. I use a wide tear drop shaped pad (made of yoga block) velcroed to the back of the holster to leverage the top of the slide in. This helps a lot with that. I've had good experience with wing claw type holsters with concealment. However, all the holsters I've used that utilize the Modwing have cracked where the modwing attaches to the holster. I usually use the larger insert to tuck in the grip, so this probably puts more pressure on the wing. But I make a point to adjust my belt so it is not tight. It is just the weight of the pistol pushing on the wing, not overtightening my belt. However they still cracked. This includes Tulster, henry holster, and JM custom kydex holsters. Because of this I'm going away from "modwing" or "darkwing" attachments for grip concealment. I'm looking into qvo tactical non sidecar holsters, Tenicor certum, or possibly making my own. I do like my wilderness tactical original intructor belt. Its the "3 stitch" easy fit. It can twist and bend but does not stretch. It is so much more comfortable than the kore essentials belt I was using. I just dont want a belt to stretch.
Great points thank you for the comment!
Welcome to the Light Side. 😎
lol
I carried both strong side and appendix for over 20yrs ...about 3 or 4 yrs ago i started carrying in a fanny pack and NEVER looked back... I can draw just as fast as I was drawing before, i can wear pants that actually fit, and I went from carrying about 75% of the time i left the house to just about 99.9% of the time.
I love appendix carry, but the wind is absolutely an issue. I am always amazed it doesn’t get brought up more on people’s videos.
The wind blowing into your stomach struggle is real. I'm not sure how to deal with that other than wearing multiple layers
I have been carrying at 3:00 for years and find it to be the most comfortable even when sitting or driving.
For me driving is definitely not the most comfortable but everyone is of course a little different. Thanks for the comment!
John Bianchi once said, same gun, same place, every time. If it’s in the same place you never have to think where you’re going to reach to grab your life saver. My duty belt and gun is at 3:00 so it only makes sense to carry my off duty in roughly the same spot. It goes about 3:30 with a 15 degree forward cant. With a untucked shirt it disappears. Outside the waistband in winter, inside the waistband in summer. Great video sir.
Couldn’t agree more that’s a great point, thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!
I've been playing with the idea of going back to strong side. I've just got so used to drawing from appendix and I'm pretty fast with it. Gonna have to train it a lot and see what I can do. Looking at the new t rex Ironside hybrid.
Ya it is taking me quite a long time to try and retrain my brain back to the beginning, the speed is definitely not the same. Thanks for the comment!
Appendix carry, and strong side while you start exercising and lose that gut so you can appendix carry.
