- In todays video we will be discussing how “dangerous” appendix carry is. This videos intent it to convince all Americans that can legally carry a firearm to train and actually carry everyday. Enjoy the video guys. My thoughts go out to those that lost loved ones in the recent shooting in Tennessee. Be safe guys.

The ones who say that tend to be the ones who can't do it because of weight.
😂, it’s true!
Theres a new position where the gun is pointed at your face. But its quick and easy to draw from. With practice and training it is just as safe as any other way to carry. Its just pointed directly at your face

Or just take the holster off and then put the gun in it. Why would you train putting your gun IN the holster?
Cause if I had to use my gun I damn sure wouldn’t put it back in my holster. It would be in my hands ready to go until the cops show up
@@RosaParksWasWyt … you gotta put the gun in the holster to draw it and shoot.
Unless you mean taking the holster off, putting the gun in it, putting the holster back on you, then drawing and shooting.
In which case you have wasted an exorbitant amount of time.
Thank you for exploring this topic. A lot of people that are new in the gun world don't train enough or educate themselves.
Your welcome
I get that appendix offers you the most retention and fastest draw. Those advantages can not overcome the physical discomfort of having the gun jammed between stomach and crotch while sitting or bending over, and knowing you are holding your private parts hostage the entire time. IDGAF 4 o clock carry points at your femoral. I'd rather get shot in the femoral than in the penis/testicles point blank with a hollowpoint. In this case the direction of least consequence is my leg. At the end of the day, bleeding out from the femoral isnt an awful way to die, and if you have a TQ it might not end up being that bad at all, compared to blowing your thingy off....... idk man. Appendix not for me.
I've been carrying all different guns with all different methods for a good number of years as an armed citizen. More importantly, I also do some volunteer security stuff so I am PAYING ATTENTION to my surroundings and other people, their kit and their psyche. I have seen lots of folks carrying 3 or 4 o'clock. It's plain as day if you know what you're looking for. It's also more likely to get your weapon taken from you if you aren't watching your surroundings. I have come up on plenty of people from behind, intentionally, to see if they turn and look at me, like, "wtf bro.". Most don't. No offense but if you are carrying a weapon you should consider carrying it in such as way as you can effectively draw and use it without fouling on clothes or being pinned by your surroundings (sitting, etc.). More importantly keep it secure. In WROL your weapon flopping around on a walmart holster at 4 o'clock is a dinner bell. I am 190#, 6'0". Appendix is faster, cleaner draw and harder to steal. For some it is easier to conceal. I usually carry g19, g19x or g45MOS. I think most new carriers don't realize how LITTLE most people pay attention. Sheep dogs and criminals are the only ones watching.
BTW, practice drawing, practice dry fire, it just takes time to build familiarity with a weapon. We all use a vehicle every day and more people are killed by cars than guns every day. Every tool is dangerous and you must learn the rules of operation to be safe. It just takes hands-on time.
AMEN!!!
I'm new to guns and CCW and building confidence with AIWB. I don't carry with one in the chamber (yet)
I seriously hope you've started carrying OIC. It's like a seatbelt; if it's off when it matters most, you will *_NEVER_* get it on in time.
@@The_world_is_not_worthy_of_Him I'm getting a DA/SA Semi-Auto pistol. I can't get past a striker pistol cocked with one in the chamber pointed at my dick. I only dry practice drawing because live round reholstering without a hammer to put my thumb on was very uncomfortable. I know "I'm the safety" and all that, and I do not plan to get a DA/SA with a safety (just a decocker), but for me, that little bit of security that a decocked DA offers is enough.
I'm also considering HK's LEM action.
They call that a dead man’s gun.
@@The_world_is_not_worthy_of_Him I actually switched from a striker fired gun to a DA/SA hammer fire because I just couldn't get over it with a cocked gun aimed at my bits all day. Especially when holstering.
Walk around with a snap cap in the chamber at home, holster re holster all day for a few weeks. Watch ur clothes, look in the holster make sure nothing flew in there before reholstering
I'm running the G-Code Syncron Holster and I love it, has the outer fuzz on it like the Incog and some their other options which makes it a little more comfy on top of the ride height adjustment, and mitigates some of the sweat action that inevitably happens, also really like it because of the enhanced retention and coverage.
I do the thumb over the slide/ backplate too when re-holstering, that's a good practice alongside LOOKING down while re-holstering, there is no reason to look anywhere but there while the gun is going away. I'd say on the personal carry basis I Appendix CCW 90% of the time, the other 10% is at my 3 o'clock on the hip for whatever exigent reason (like using a different holster, and then of course other professional/ operational needs using something like a Clipdraw while OCONUS, Drop Leg Holsters, etc.).
Also, shoutout to my fellow 5'7"/ 5'8" kings out there, stay squirrelly bois 😁

Good vid, with good pints. Up until recently I carried a 19 appendix everyday since I turned 21. (I’m 28 now) I changed over to a hammer gun, a CZ P-01. The idea is that I have a way to mechanically stop the gun from firing if there is an obstruction in the holster or the holster body collapsed post fight. The technique you showed putting the thumb on the back of the slide would cross over and you can pin the hammer down preventing the gun from firing. Also Metro PD crushed, damn good work
They crushed it for sure
unloaded and with no ammo in the room I played with what it would take for the trigger to go off if clothing or something bizarre somehow got in front of it while re-holstering and it helped greatly with my confidence in appendix carry.
Confidence is key
I train appendix carry fully nude for maximum efficiency. I mean, except for battle belt, because the holster is there. Oh, and boots, because I don't wanna stub my toe or anything. For safety.
@@matthiasthulman4058 lmao
I can not get comfortable with appendix carry. I keep trying to find that right spot but just cant get it right. I carry at 4 o'clock all day comfortably, but there are situations where I wish I carry appendix, crowded places being my number one reason. I'm gonna keep trying... thanks for the video.
Your gun your gunfight brother
"Do not point the weapon at anything you do not intend to destroy."
Points weapon at leg and junk.
Have to admit to some inconsistency there. 🤣
IMHO appendix carry is unsafe. I don’t advocate for it but to each their own.
You point at yourself no matter where you carry.
Not really. And pointed at your butt occasionally is better than your junk. @@thisissparta8884
@thisissparta8884 I used to think appendix carry was dumb. John Lovell had a video about that carry position vs 3 O'clock carry. Both positions you are pointing it at yourself. Us guys critique when we should be helping each other become better protectors. Stay safe and God bless. 🇺🇸
@@Constitutionalist1791 you are just an iddiot
@13:37 this is why you don’t talk and shoot at same time. Didn’t look into holster when re holstering.
Ummm, the way you reholster is dangerous. I watched you muzzle yourself several times. You do a couple of things right that are important.1. Going slow. 2. Trigger finger on the frame. 3. Thumb on the back of the slide. But there are a few things you could improve on. 1. You're not always looking the gun into your holster. 2. You should be pushing your pelvis forward. 3. You should be leaning back slightly. That way, the muzzle can be oriented away from your body. Instead of back at your body. Reholstering is just as important as your draw stroke. Most negligent discharges happen while unholstering and reholstering the firearm. We need to give equal time to training both. Good luck. Cheers!
🪨
You are gonna flag yourself when you carry appendix...your literally pointing a gun at your dick all day at some point you get over it and realize if I don't put booger hooker on bang switch my shit stays intact. You are right tho most are on draw or reholster. And all come from operator error in one way or the other
i make custom holsters and what works best for me is to use straps with pull the dot snaps to fasten it to my belt. they stick out slightly more than a clip, but that way i can unsnap them and remove the holster quickly and easily. a lot of the time i just remove the holster completely and reholster the weapon that way, while still keeping it pointed in a safe direction obviously. that way i know im not pointing it at my junk when i reholster. and its quick and easy to put back on my belt. that being said i do everything i can to be sure that the holster is safe to reholster, even when on my belt.
💪
You showed the holsters you are using, but didn't specifically mention that it is necessary to have a hard (preferably kydex) holster for AIWB carry. The most danger exists while holstering, having a floppy holster is how that trigger gets depressed unintentionally, besides a shirt or something getting in there with your gun, but you covered visual check well.
Amen. Fast to draw/Ssssllloow to re-holster.
.
Back when I was in the LE Academy (circa 2004) the Cpt. of the NARC unit was teaching us about a specific carry method criminals were using to carry their pistols, how much faster it was to draw, and what to pay attention to during a frisk. Back then they nicknamed it "The Crip Carry".
I started appendix shortly there after, and never looked back.
Oof
Honestly, I feel the overwhelming majority, if not all of the appendix carry accidents come from people doing Mexican carry or people that just cannot keep their booger hook off the bang switch.
I like the fact you use high contrast colors on your appendix rig, I've gone to zombie green myself. It gives a good outline for re-holstering and also highlights an obstruction that could potentially get in your trigger guard
Appendix carry IS deadly, for the bad guy 😎🤘
Yep
Yep. I'd argue that carrying on your side is even more dangerous should someone standing in line behind you decide to snatch your gun that was already printing.
Slow regulated

Dude I appendix carry all year except for winter and I just carry it on my hip underneath my jacket then
Good content. I like your approach. As a lifelong martial artist one of the first things we teach beginners is go slow. Develop the fundamentals. I like the way you practiced that. Speed will come down the road with quality repetitions. Nice job.
Thank you
I agree Trench. I didn’t know people still thought it was unsafe. This idea that you shouldn’t appendix carry has been disproven many times. You control the weapon, the weapon does not control you.
Appendix carry is only dangerous if you make it that way.
you are a morron

@@robpayne183 beats sounding like a morron
@@LuckyHunter-er2mb you just nailed it with your comment calling yourself out. I made my comment 5 months ago so did you just stumble across it or finally catch up? You carry the way you want and I will do the same. Why do you even care how I carry? That isn’t the only position that I carry, and I stand by my comment that it is dangerous if you make it that way. It all comes down to the person with the firearm. Good luck drawing from a seated position if you are carrying in a 3-5 position especially seatbelts in a vehicle.
What about the lean back pelvis up ?
I wouldn't carry a sig like this but I've carried a Glock 19 in the pecker popper position for years. I love standard co holsters but damn those wait times are murder.

Btw appendix carry is dangerous! Hip carry is… dangerous!!! Carrying guns is dangerous! Haha life is dangerous
Appendix allows you to control access to the tool, and limit exposure to a potential threat. You should have a 26 shaped dent in your fat.
Maybe a little too tight there
Another excellent video and commentary. What is your technique for appendix carry while seated in chair? Car seat? This technique is new to me but hip injuries are complicating 3 o’clock.
Seat belt behind gun
I'm going to have to give this a try. I pretty much exclusively use 4 o'clock but it's causing sciatica pain now. Time to adapt!
Do what your comfortable with
Great video! Thank you!
Great info, completely agree. I switch between appendix & 4/5 o’clock carry, depending mostly on clothing and time in a vehicle. I tend to appendix carry more in the summer when wearing a T-shirt. Cheers 🍻 🤘🏻

Good point on weapon control from gun grab.
Thanks
Good video man. I prefer and am more proficient at 3. I can draw appendix fine. But if shot with south thatd be an awfully bad friggen time.

are your SA15 rders Gen 1 or 2?
I'm a 5 o'clock type of fella. It's a little slower and can print a bit more but I find it to be more comfy - plus I can more easily draw sitting down or prone. My bro's all prefer appendix - they're quicker on the draw fasho. As long as you think about why you're doing things and practice - you'll be aight regardless. Glock leg is a bad day, regardless of if it's in the front or back - so just don't do it
Don’t shoot your self
Appendix is way faster when seated. You got the prone advantage but I can't think of a situation where that is important.
@@boejiden1942 ay we're all built different tho, depends on the Indian bro bro
9/3 better but for appendix best mic holster+techna clip (g3C/g43x)or just mic holster appendix for bigger guns (g19/SD9ve/♉️G3) the longer grip keeps it from canting cause sitting with a whole holster in front 😮💨

Bang really. Straight military stereotype. But I see it all the time.
If I was going to appendix carry it would have to be with a hammer fired gun. I need that piece of mind reholstering that I can pin my thumb down on the hammer.
A lot would agree
Lean back slightly when u reholster and it keeps the muzzle away from your junk and thigh

I won't appendix carry any weapon with any amount of spring tension behind the firing pin whatsoever, or with an exposed hammer, regardless of safety systems. There are specific conditions under which a Glock can discharge without the trigger being pulled. It's extremely unlikely but it has happened before.
Are there any documented cases where this happened? I've been looking around and all I get are these third-hand stories and nothing that couldn't be attributed to careless weapon handling. I'm not disputing what you said, I'd just like to see some documentation that I could read.
@@Amalgam67 There was a recall on Gen 1 or 2 Glocks because this could happen. I don't have any more specific information than that. I'm a huge Glock fan so I'm not shitting on them.
@@nobodyatall7039 Of course. I was just wondering because all I've heard about the Glocks since the Gen 3's came out is how secure they are from discharges like that.
@@Amalgam67 They are. One of the early models had some kind of issue where the firing pin could slip off of the drop safety if the whole frame was twisted with incredible force. That was the issue. Even then, there would still be the safety plunger (which could theoretically become stuck in the disengaged position if it were exceptionally dirty, though I've never heard of this happening), and the firing pin spring wouldn't be acting with full force, so it probably wouldn't even set off the primer of the chambered round. It was a purely theoretical and astronomically unlikely situation, but Glock fixed it anyway. This is all from memory, I don't have any sources unfortunately.
@@nobodyatall7039 Thanks.
I perfer mexican carry; it is safer.
My dad, a Mexican born in Mexico, used to Mexican carry. Scary as hell thinking back to him doing that. Didn't know any better until I started doing safety training.
He worried about safety but throws ammo in the ammo box after grabbing a few. Smh.
This makes zero sense. But it’s the CZcams comment of the day. I award you !
@@trench_grenade pretty sure he’s assuming that tossing a few rounds in the can is enough pressure/force to hit the primer and make a round go off.
@@trench_grenade I started pinning stupid comments to the top. Had a brutha saying I was missing targets the other day. Apparently he expected paper targets to ring like steel 😮
