  • Finally a Brushed Motor Video! Here we determine how to calculate Kv for a brushed motor. In fact it easier than figuring out the Kv value for a brushless motor! Then we spend some time on that ring found on many brushed motors. Is there a purpose to it?

    When I was into R/C hobby motors and cars i never heard about the ring? Thats interesting! I always wanted to know how to measure KV on brushed motors and after 15 years now I know! Top tutorial so i subbed and liked 👍. Cheers from Australia 👍

    Need to do a vid about that torque ring! Is it just shielding, is it redirecting the field, how does it do what it does? Seems pretty significant for some static object...

    I always thought it was just a ring so they can put the brand name on it. Thank you for this info!

    I still have several 12T traxxas motors kicking around after brushless conversions. I may have to experiment with this for the sake of engineering fun. 🤔😁

    hey! I came across your 2 videos on BLDC motors as I’ve been having troubles with mine
    I wanted to clarify if it’s possible for a spoilt motor controller to spoil a BLDC motor? As reference, I’m using these motor controllers from AliExpress on hoverboard wheels & I noticed using a working motor controller on this “spoilt” BLDC motor causes it to turn a bit at the start, before it makes a whirring sound
    Used this exact same motor controller on the another BLDC motor & it can move fine
    I’ve ran this “spoilt” BLDC motor through several motor controllers that were afterwards burnt so I’m not sure if the spoilt motor controllers could’ve indeed spoilt it
    Is the “spoilt” BLDC motor really spoilt?

    The purpose of that ring is to hold the magnetic field closer. Result is probably better torque.

    What happens if you put two of the rings on the motor?

  • @therctutor8100
    @therctutor8100 Před 2 lety

    I would imagine that the ring increases torque as its extra metal for the magnets to “stick” to.

    I think in the end you meant "unplug" your equipment so your batteries don't die. From what I understand, an ESC will still draw from the batteries even when turned off. True or False?

    • @RCexplained
      @RCexplained  Před 2 lety

      I left the multimeter on last time I used it and the battery was dead. But, it most definitely is correct that an ESC will draw power from the batteries and its best to unplug the battery from the ESC.

    kv on brushless is when motor is free.. if you connect to a brushed all is false . if you have tachometer juste take it on brushed direct
