    Hi, I am planning on getting a 1/10 short course rc car weights about 6 KG I have seen videos and it's not very fast so also getting a bigger motor. The RC use 3S batteries and come with a 120A ESC and Surpass Hobby 3660 2600KV says on the specifications chart that has a max amps of 63A and Io of 1.5 A and running around 33K rpm on 12.6V, I was planning on get the Surpass Hobby 3660 4200 KV the chart says max amps of 100A and Io of 3.7A this on 3S 12.6V get over its 50K RPM limit by 3K rmp so I don't if that little exceed rpm will be tolerated or the Surpass Hobby 3660 3500 KV the chart says max amps of 92A and Io of 2.8A has a 44 K rpm on 12.6 V both motors has a max rpm of 50K, do you think the 120A ESC will do the work or increasing the KV of the motors would reduce the initial torque and current against the original 2600KV so there won't be any problem with the upgrade, that 4200 Kv is the more powerful in the 3660 size but there is also the 3500 and 3100KV so this is also and option, also mention that I can't change the ESC or the gearing so my only option on increasing speed is by the motor KV or maybe get a 3674 motor 3000Kv.       You can select any motor that you are comfortable. The motor will only draw as much power as it requires. If you gear it very conservatively, a 120A esc will be fine. Check Temps afterward.

      Too hard to tell, shafts break on this motor randomly from much lower power levels.

    The max current here is a theoretical value, ignoring wire resistance. The higher the KV, the more windings, the thinner the wire, the lower the practical current limit.

    Fantastic video as usual! I really like that you have been diving into the topic of Lipo battery technology lately. There's something to learn from novice to advanced expert. I'd like to request that you do a video on how to truly determine the performance of a lipo pack by stress load. I know you are very much aware that an ESR is not good for determining the performance of a pack, rather, the pack needs a full 10 second burst load (250A) draw. The recovery voltage divided by the number of cells multiplied by "100" will give us a 3-digit value we can use to rank each pack. I have only found ONE unit capable of doing this test, and it's not cheap, but maybe you have annother way to accomplish this task? Also, I am wondering if my iCharger 406Duo or 308Duo will do what your charger will do. I have searvhed for your charger, but it doesn't seem to be in production any longer... Has so many very neat features!

    Als wir Jugendliche waren, haben wir bei uns auf dem Land auch viel Scheiße gemacht. Wir hatten zum Beispiel einen alten Polo, aber wir hatten keine Batterie nur eine neuen Volt Block Batterie die haben wir dann mit Plus500 und minus verdrahtet und das Auto angeschoben. Also einen Push Start gemacht! Die Batterie hat ausgereicht, um die Einspritzanlage zu versorgen und das Auto ist gefahren

      too short time period to make it any warm. A good 2200mAh 3S pack can easily output like 150A nearly constant and 300A+ short term (10 seconds) which is definitely more than enough for a small car starter like this. V6/V8 diesels hit different for sure. My personal emergency starter is a powerbank with LiFePo 100Wh battery i think 4S 8Ah (vs 3S 2.2Ah) , much bigger than this tiny pack and its rated for up to 1200A starter current (maybe a lie but real 300A are enough for my 2l diesels)

      Those wires alone would melt as soon as the alternator started charging.. or blown the battery from too many amps while charging.my 8g wire melted off my alternator trying to charge a regular battery

    Maybe a dumb question, but why is it considered dead between 70-80% capacity? Is there something specifically in the battery chemistry at that makes it unstable below that threshold? Otherwise, why would I chuck a battery that provides 15 minutes of run time instead of 20?

      While a lithium battery may be considered "dead" at 70 to 80 percent of its original capacity, it doesn't mean it's completely unusable. In many cases, it can still function adequately for less demanding rc vehicles or in vehicles where a lower capacity is acceptable.

      Its is inefficient to use a battery when it falls below about 70% total capacity. That is one of the problems why Sodium batteries are not usable currently. You could only use about 70-80% of the total capacity of a sodium ion cell and that is only about 70-80% of a LFP cell. And it costs about the same. That is inefficient.

      How much current does it take? Might be a stupid idea, but on the budget side you could run it from AC outlet as well by using a cheap high powered 24V power supply. I paid for my 600W 24V psu like 25$, there were up to 2000W and 100V DC available

      @@RCexplained You can get a similar sound by removing the factory intake resonator. That would preserve the factory's cold air intake and it's a free mod.

      @toolbaggers did that, nowhere close to the same. With that removed the intake is taking in air quite close to where the current filter is. Any speed above 20km/h and the intake sees ambient thermals on the data logger. No idea if power or fuel mileage is changed.

      A lot of guys like the SMC batteries. I have yet to test them. In addition, there are no LiPo batteries out there that I am aware of with truly accurate C ratings.

    I was just driving my 1/8 scale Truggy around my house the other day and I was trying to beat on it to check my pinion selection and see what temp the motor got to. I was hitting the breaks a lot and zipping up and down the road a lot at full blast and the motor temp was good, it got to 142 degrees but it was only around 60 degrees out. One thing I noticed though which I am a little concerned about was the battery was pretty warm to the touch. I didn’t temp the battery but I was wondering, if I lower the punch level in the ESC some, it should probably help keep the battery cooler, correct? It’s a Gens Ace 4S 6000MAH 130C battery

      Anything that lowers the current drawing from the battery will decrease the temps you are getting.

    RESTING VOLTAGE.... Great video and info ...actually looking to buy some Hobbyking graphene lipos .... I fly 3d fixed wing with 6S 4000 mAh and 5000 mAh graphene lipos from HRB and Yoowoo i use Frsky Tx setup with a 21.5 volt low voltage call out every few seconds if it falls below this 21.5 volts....once this settles at this resting voltage for say 4 call outs over a 20-30 secs period or more....i come in and land. What i experience which i find very useful with Frsky Tx is you can set a DELAY for your low voltage alarm and this allows you to feel the voltage drops with certain HARD manouvers as it calls them out then stops as it bounces off the low voltage ... I like this method as it allows you to use the full capacity of the lipos by flying low and slow to allow the resting voltage to recover thus allowing you to fly longer...been using this method for few years now and really like it.

    How are you coming up with this formula? Are you using Ohms Law: V x IR or P = I^2 x R? Formula is very suspect without some sort of explanation as to how you come up with formula and 2500 constant. "Extensive Data collection" doesn't really do it for me.

      Yes, it was done with extensive data collection. All data points were plotted on a graph, and a regression analysis was employed to determine the line of best fit. Electrical theory wasn't utilized in this process. Although the formula still tends to overestimate the actual c rating, it gets significantly closer than any specification you'll find on a battery label. Additionally, I've shared battery test results, along with the methodology I employed to get the true C rating of a battery. These battery test videos are unpopular but there are several I've uploaded. Only one video shows me getting the true C rating through a loaded run.

    I wind my own motors, as long as you make sure you re-terminate all the windings, It's perfectly safe and easy to do. Often times these motors are wound with solder through insulation/ lacquer. If not just burn off the lacquer. This video should have focused on how to do this safely instead of just trying to frighten your viewers into avoiding this procedure.

      Actually, that's not the case. I've been using whiteboards for a while now, well before and after that video was released. It's just a useful tool for me, not specifically for the video and also not solely for CZcams. Fortunately, the space isn't wasted at all; I get a lot of mileage out of it, much like my Toyota! Nice B6 S4, hope you can get some high miles on it too.

    k man what you explained how many nm of torque a 36mm motor generate per mm, which is 12 , do you know the number that a 40mm can motor can generate per mm?
