  • WATCH this VLOG series as we head on out to the southern ocean to fish for Southern Rock Lobster here in Tasmania.
Onboard the commercial fishing vessel Chieftain a 17.5m/57ft steel Tasmanian built vessel now 23 years old.
Thank you everyone for liking and subscribing. We are new to this CZcams video stuff so its very rough, as you can expect things will get a lot smoother as this series progresses and into the future.
Apologies for Audio quality I am slowly getting use to using the microphones.

Excellent viewing chaps. It's an adventure watching you at your job, as a land-lubber it gives a greater understanding of what fishermen endure to get the catch to our tables!

Was great first series you put out for us, many hours of work on top of your day/night job.
Next season a few points to think on, we need more commentary over the pulling of pots. Whether you do that as you film or later editing. Viewers want to know, the size of the boat, its range, average fuel consumption. Lobster ages, the rules, appears all females returned, do you guys both eat lobster or cant stand them😂. Dwell time of pots in the water, how many pots on a license, how long the season, what are the different species, are species specific to different depths...this will keep your viewers coming back. Gret work, love my hoodie...your a brave man with a white hoodie on a fishing boat🤣🤣🤣

4k subs and 141 likes on this is terrible for your great content. You might make some money here but need to prioritise. You're young blokes so this aint your domain. This is where older folks (with an attention span more than insta, tiktok etc btw I very uncomfortably am ober 50) watch for longer.... and either subscribe to get rid of ads or watch the ads - $$$. Ad revenue is the game. Lots of eyeballs with more $ per eyeball on average is here (for vid) and FB for rest. Not insta, tiktok, and whatever else. They'll all give you likes and claps. How many $? You're spending the time, forget the ego and pretty ladies... cash is here. Tip #1Never pad your YT videos with crap at the end (eg underatwer fish). Algorithym here is not about length - its about count of people who watch all the way trhough (thats YT measure of audience engagement). Even I, who really enjoy your vids, stopped 30 secs into the underwater cam. Thats a negative to YT, so it won't feed your content to others who would otherwise like it. Big trip!

I know where you are coming from. The social media is just a side gig.
We are slowly learning. The growth so far has been good enough to cover all gear and equipment purchased to make the videos.
The hoodies are the same, I do them because I enjoy bringing awareness of the industry and tasmania.
Tik tok has been great for growing aswell as $ we have made a few k from doing lives ect.
We added the underwater scene at the end as people kept asking for underwater shots.
Even If people skip the end I still gain $ from views.
I appreciate the support and comments 😀
The videos will get much better down the road, often we film the videos then edit them months later. Realising we missed or lost footage which explains what we are doing and why

Do you believe you should concentrate on catching more crayfish than making these videos pretty poor results

At the time this was filmed, we were catching equal if not more then most fisherman at sea during this time. That time of year is often not fished. Being that the price was high us and many others attempted to catch a few. It didn't necessarily go to plan. But that's fishing.
Since the start of the new rock lobster season. We did over 2t in 7 days. We can definitely catch lobster no worries about that.

And if the fimling was causing me issues with catching I would be filming anything.
