    Hello from alaska mate, nice vessel captain. I really like your pot rack very nice very nice. I've spent many years pulling pot here in alaska, an I must admit I like your design, very simple, easy to maintain well done sir.

      @@Aussielobsterhunters dont get me wrong, with reef breaks like that Skipper looks after his boat and his crew...have surfed 50 footers in a 29 foot boat and they overtook us open ocean back of Rottnest at +30 knots scary as !

      @@scotttillotson3962 Yeah right. Things can definitely go wrong fast around the breaks. We had gear inside the breaks. But I didn't film up pulling it. Was focused on working out where was "safe" vs "not" for the video. Keept the boat bow into it to ensure if something went wrong one on the chin should be alright.

    Great video again guys. Heres another question 4ya. How come you don't get any Giant Tasmanian crabs in your pots? Ive seen them in tanks at Portland caught by cray boats there. Cheers Pat

    • @Aussielobsterhunters
      @Aussielobsterhunters  Před 4 měsíci +3

      We do get them, but don't purposefully target them 😀 you require quota to keep them. However we have the quota but lease it to other fisherman.

    Rope is something you tie up your goat with when your a fisherman it’s called line. A propeller is on an airplane on a boat it’s called a wheel. Catch em up.

    • @Aussielobsterhunters
      @Aussielobsterhunters  Před 4 měsíci +3

      Can't agree with that sorry... we call it a prop or propeller. The "line" is called rope in almost all situations. Haha

    Awesome video again guys commented a few times now but when you throw back under size are shark fudder or they go straight back to habitat. No disrespect in that question

    • @Aussielobsterhunters
      @Aussielobsterhunters  Před 4 měsíci +1

      The lobster go straight back down. When we do research trips. We specifically capture undersized lobster take them then return them within the caught area.
      Those lobsters are caught frequently in the same area.
      Our lobster have a very high success rate of return

    Very interesting what’s the size down there , must be a bit bigger than SA I’m curious too what does a decky make in TAS
    Good video really enjoyed it
    Cheers from Southern SA

    • @Aussielobsterhunters
      @Aussielobsterhunters  Před 4 měsíci

      decky pay depends on the boat as most boats and industry's. because the vessel we work owns 50% of caught yearly quota so deckhands pay is larger then others.
      lobster size is 105mm female and 110mm male

      if you didn't know family run business's tend to involve the family... as employees, strange i know... I didn't realize assisting my father into an early semi retirement was a bad thing especially for major health reasons. But anyway not here to please others when they are only jealous of my fathers hard work and success during his career. Let alone watch his son achieve also.
