Tim Burton was THE best choice for that particular movie era: fantasy and reality merged in a more comic character based style. It perfectly fits the development of comics turning into silver-screen-reality. BUT, the audience was ready to take it a step further. Something Tim Burton simply couldn't do.... but Christopher Nolan was cut out for. I mean: we're 13 years from the release of Batman Begins... and everything is still not outdated. Like Star Wars 4-6 were waaay ahead of their time... presumably... nothing will top this in a loooooong, long time.

all the reasons for the batman dark knight and batman begins suit have functionality that fits with the story. A man cannot fight crime in the previous suit. As classic as the original was, it was not practical which takes away from the ability to convey seriousness. there is a fear when you see your opponent has the advantage over you in functionality. most men would beat up oldschool batman where the new one even with the cowl shows emotion that says i am in no mood! I would genuinely crap my pants if i saw the batman begins batman coming at me if i even get a glimpse at all. it would be asinine to pretend that the original batman was not practical and is merely loved for that one reason of being classic. 5 year comment , but figured i would point that out though the video makes it pretty clear already.

  • @LordFrezzor

I despise the Nolan Dark Knight suit as it looks nothing like Batman. The batlogo is tiny and almost invisible. The cowl looks ridiculous. It's obvious Nolan was ashamed and tried to get away from the Bat-theme as far as possible. At least the Burton suit had an impressive stature.

I disagree. I think Nolan just went in a different, more practical and realistic direction. As in if Batman was real, what would his suit actually be like? What would it have to be like to function properly and allow Batman to do his job. The answer to that question was never going to be a cape and some tights or a rubber suit.

14:49 is what I came here for. Liked the Burton ones, but Nolan's versions were just awesome. Christopher Nolan's vision of the character and Christian Bale's performance as Batman are what I think of Batman from the moment I first saw Batman Begins and onward with The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. Pure epicness. This is what Bob Kane and Bill Finger envisioned Batman to be. And both of them gave it to us.

actually TDK/Rises cowl is more psychologically dark and an insight to this man's trauma...The way it's shaped/molded makes it look more like some sort of demonic animal but still keeps with the Bat theme, but the point is it shows how the damage is with this guy and just how deep that rage/pain goes and personally the whole costume but especially the cowl further shows that there's that fine line when he's in that suit..How on that edge is he.

What I love, and doesn't get mentioned a lot, is the black version of the sonar suit from Forever. The silvery version in the movie I don't like, but if you watch the funny little Batman skit in Looney Toons Back In Action, you see the sonar suit all black. And it looks kinda awesome. It also appears in black for some early promotional photos and in certain customised toys.
