That count feature on the snap-on torque wrench saved my ass on a head job i did on a Duramax just about a month ago. Went through the whole sequence and saw the count was off, realized I had missed one of the studs. First time I've ever made the mistake, but the count feature saved it
This is the set up I bought from you guys!! Awesome. Thank you!!!
Awesome content as always. Really glad I found your youtube channel. Cant wait to see part 2.
Definitely enjoy your content - keep it coming.
Thanks, will do!
starting them with the impact. life on the edge. my kind of guy
Started my 408 build lastnight. Love your videos
Nice!
I just got my little 408 dropped in my regular cab Silverado. It makes a fun daily driver. 😎
This is exactly what I'm looking for a 416 for the streets. I have an L99/LS3 I pulled out of a 2010 Camaro and a buddy of mine who builds engines went through it and made it new again but it's pretty OEM cause I was originally going to throw it into a Datsun Z car that i'm now selling. Long story short I want to put the LS3 in my C6 since the car is down and the motor is down atm but after doing all this work I'd hate to put a "stock" engine back in it. I'm up the road from you in Fort Worth, I'd love to drop it off for something identical to this. I'll strip it down to the bare block. I still have my LS2 as well and tore down to a bare block as well. The only real knowledge I have is from watching your channel and all your 1/2 mile runs with the C5, good shit!
I cant stress enough how important of a recommendation you made about the maximum crank size. I personally like the 3.900” less likely to burn oil
GOAT engine builder
Great content. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
My pleasure!
Do you guys ever showcase a truck combo that works good for towing, daily driving, possible power adder down the road?
Love the builds!✌️
Best video on CZcams
I watched Jacob’s build on the 383 and duplicated most of it but A 406 version.Been watching this guy awhile and love this channel.I decided keep it old school on this 1 gen Camaro build and this motor is more then what I expected Holley crap.Tons of torque for the love of god man o man.I am not A pro builder by far so I definitely asked my friends for help. The machine work cost A shit load but very happy with the Freaken power this thing puts out and it’s not even tuned wow.High 5 Jacob thanks A but.Not I need to watch These LS builds for the next project.
Ok Jacob, I just ordered my 416 rotating assembly!
I searched and search for your link for $1000 off when ordering from Smeding performance!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I will be building an LS1. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I love this video. Great instructions
Love the content! Maybe we missed it but did you put assembly lube on the rod bearings?
I’ll take one of those, perfect combo for me. 😁😁😁
Love these builds. What small impact, torque wrench and other tools do you recommend for building ls engines? Thanks
What piston to bore clearance did you run for those 4032 forged pistons please?
I’m guessing the single row timing chain is more than enough for this combo?
Love your videos. 👍🏻🇦🇺
Nice no bs tutorial.
GM engine oil supplement used to work great as assembly lube. You ever try it?
Have you noticed any issues by not using the torque sequence on the main bolts?
I'm building a 413 stroker I've gone with a Lunati crank, Manley h-beam rods, and JE pistons, heads im using 823 heads with pocket ported inlet and max effort exh port as its having a 98mm Turbo I've gone with Aeroflow low intake with 102mm TB for hood clearance, 1.7 Yella Terra roller rockers, I'm about to send off the block & heads for engineering do you think there any benifit in O-ring the block and heads? I doubt i would push more than 25lbs of boost ?
It’d take some serious crankcase pressure to get oil out the cross bolts even without sealant
Dang you make this look too easy 😅
Can U make a 417ci 900hp on pump gas out of d same motor an use as a daily driver & play on Sunday. N/A plus nitrous
Will you or have you showed us your clearancing technique??
Jacob, you mentioned that for this street/NA engine, it can rev to 7200/7400, and you are using the Holley Hi-Ram intake manifold. Is this the standard combo for the 416 LS3?
Are you going to show a dyno run or at least give est hp tq numbers??
When the piston gets hot will it too expand and come back out of the hole changing the math yet again?.
Do U hve dat rotating assembly kit wit d 2618 pistons I want to add nitrous! Everything is d same pump gas daily driver. Price please
would you recommend a 4140 or 4340 crank if I'm just going max effort NA?
How much time do you spend assembling a short block?
How come you didn't use a stretch gauge on the big end bolts ???
what are the rod measurements?
How much horse power from the crank will it put out
Will you degree the cam?
How reliable is a 416 on factory block
Damn for a sec I thought it was my block lol
How is that new gen Milwaukee been working out for ya? Notice any upgrade other than the light?
I like them a lot!
Will dat engine be a daily driver?
Nice! I hope I will get a 416 some day. What hp numbers are you guy's aiming for?
This one should make around 650-700.
@@JacobVillemain Thanks! Fantastic!
That’s a lot of money for 650 tire. I’ll stick to 300 dollar junkyard sbe 6.0 and cheap China turbos that make more than that.
@@jasonjennings5833 ok buy me, I like NA motors and I have a broken "LS3" to start with
@@tokslut ls3 are hard to come by and expensive. I’ll stick to gen 3 lq4 truck blocks. For 200 bucks. cam and springs 450. 862 heads for 50 bucks. Deccaped flex Injectors 150 flow matched. S475 and rest of kit for 1200. No while I was in there bullshit. Reuse head bolts and head gasket. Proven combo. If it blows up tomorrow. Couple days and a trip to the junkyard to get another high mileage block. Not 4 or 5k for 650 tires. That’s stupid.
Do you sell stroker kits?
Why don’t you ever use the total seal zero gap rings with the overlapping edge?
Please help fix my engine 5.3 chevy
What u torque your rod bolt too?
Depends which ones, there are 5 different arp 2000.
Do you shim oil pump ? I didn’t on my build haven’t had an issue
I now install them by very lightly threading in the bolts (loose enough so you can still wiggle the pump), then filling the pump with oil, followed by rotating the crankshaft over several times, and finally torquing the 4 bolts down, is perfectly adequate and negates the need to shim the gears.
@@JacobVillemain
Yes, that is how melling says to do it.
czcams.com/video/zzz6NkXTq24/video.html
Why no stretch gauge on rod bolts?
After torquing the same bolt 10,000+ times we know exactly what torque setting will equal the correct stretch.
What’s the max cr you’d run on pump gas with an ls?
E85 is a pump gas..
@@dennisrobinson8008 I was meaning 91 or 93 whichever you have nearest you. My build I’m going with E85 but curious to the safe cr for if I’m driving and happen to be where e85 isn’t available. I’ll be running a content sensor for that reason
@@ccooper04 You'll be able to get away with 93 or 91 octane with 11.5:1.
Always go in dry 😂
I've only worked on SBC's so Im no expert but every one else I watch put on a oil pump on a LS they shim them. But you didnt . Can you explain that ?

Ok. Thank you.
Good lord. I keep watching your video and also noticed you don't align/center the oil pump also. The camera your using produces a good quality video, as far as your build practices im not convinced the quality is there. I'm just being real and try to encourage folks BUILDING engines to do so with some pride and quality during the process.
Go dry first *THEN* come back with lube...
#HeSaidIt
WD-40 does not contain fish oil that is a myth.
Nice no bs tutorial.
