- * Since I published the first video in this
4-way tire dressing comparison, I realized that
Koch Chemie Pss Plast Star is a solvent based
tire dressing, not water based. So I have changed
the title of this series to simply Premium Tire
Dressing 2-Week Showdown.
In this video, we take a look at 4 premium tire dressings... Carpro Perl, Koch Chemie PSS Plastar, Gtechniq T-2, and Meguiar's Hyper Dressing. We're testing on 2 vehicles, an outdoor dwelling everyday driver, and a garage queen with a semi-daily driving schedule. Will the dressings last longer with lighter driving habits?? We'll find out!

Well done video: Liked how commented on the application, shine, and cost of each. Also appreciated your slow pan across the tires and the music and how you lowered the volume when you were talking. 2 questions: What did you use to clean the tires? Have you ever used Chemical Guys VRP which is very economical and is highly rated? Thank you!
Thank so much!! I cleaned the tires with P&S Brake Buster. I haven’t used VRP, but I’ve seen also that I gets a lot of good reviews. I’m planning on doing another 4 way tire dressing comparison soon so I will definitely include VRP.
My guess would be the PERL lasting longer than the rest. Gtechniq is no slouch either though, they put out some great products so it might be the Gtechniq.
I love Perl personally, but we’ll see if I have a new favorite in a couple weeks.
Ey bro, I live in southeast asia and here we have all 4 products available apparently the cheapest one in my country is Pss. I get it at 23USD including shipping while carpro is at 38 USD including shipping. Love both products. I used to use hyper dressing b4 but i feel like its inferior to the rest
Thanks for sharing bro! Yes I believe hyper dressing is inferior on tires. On interior s it’s king though, but it’s super expensive right now though, I’ve seen it as high at $100/gal.
You're in PA? Cool, me too!
Right on!
Pss👍
In Germany we pay 15€ for the bottle PSS
So which one was the best? I’m really wanting the PSS Koch chemie
Check out part 2 😉
@Turner Mobile Detailing where did you get that pump cap for the Carpro Perl?
Carpro-us.com, there’s a link in the description. Let me k ow if the description doesn’t work for some reason.
@Turner Mobile Detailing Thanks!

Nice work. How sure are we that PSS is water based? Smells like a solvent to me...
Good question, I’m looking into it more.
So Plast Star is actually solvent based. Thanks for being that to my attention. I’ll make a note when I put out the update video.
@@TurnerMobileDetailing its not a big deal, you just sparked my curiosity when you said it was water based
The SS is silicone free

PSS is the silicone and oil free version, also a solvent can be anything even water can be a solvent.
@@GrahamReid34 very true, but when I give it a whiff, the solvent in it is more than just water. I reached out to a few distributors and they all confirmed it contains a solvent other than water.
Also I just looked at what I wrote and I come across as a Clown I apologise
@@GrahamReid34 lol no worries sir, I appreciate your comment.
Can't see the point of water based dressings. You have to go through the same cleaning process and application process, why repeat every week instead of every few months? Not worth it.
Are you referring to tire coatings instead of water based dressings?
@@TurnerMobileDetailing Yes. The new solvent based SiO2 and acrylic coatings are really good.
@@eddiel7033 true, but I reviewed dressings in this video, and a tire coating is a whole different product. Dressings last at best a few weeks, and a coating lasts like you said, a few months usually. Some people like water based dressings because they’re dilatable, and they produce a little more of a natural look. They just require reapplication every 2-3 weeks. Solvent based dressings may last a touch longer but the solvents can damage the rubber over time, and are also too shiny for some. I personally agree with you, I like a tire coating because I don’t have to touch it for at least 3 months. Oh by the way, water based dressings are great for interior dressing and engine bay dressing. I dilute it down to 1:4 for those applications.
