    Excellent explanation of the MPM tech. I've often noticed that binding with the MPM module fails if the receiver is too close (e.g. Spektrum) so moving it 2-3 meters away usually fixed that.

    The Wiki and the thread on Rcgroups was most helpful for me too Lee. The recent fw for the Multi module has Skyartec's protocol however the OpenTx fw for my FlySky Nirvana has it's Multi module code from OpenTx 2.2 which only allows 63 protocols when Skyartec is 68. Wiki and the group walked me through how to change the code and recompile so I could flash it to my module. Worked like a charm.

    Hi Lee,
    Wow, what a terrific video.. this one really knocked it out of the park for me, since I use both the internal and external DIY 4in1 Multi-protocol (MPM) modules in My transmitter exclusively.
    I think what Pascal and the 4in1 software developers have done is miraculous. No other OpenTx group has come close to providing such an incredible array of capabilities and done it in a truly opensource way that allows you to review the comments and tweak the 20,000 lines of source code and refine it further if you really need to do so.
    I hadn’t known about a couple of the latest new functions either, so I’m very happy you’ve touched on them here.. but I do have one important question for you.. Yes it’s true there is a detailed list of all the protocols that are currently supported up on the github web site you referenced at least three times.. but here’s the problem.. and this is only a problem for many of us with the cheaper toy planes, boats, Quads and RC Cars and we bought all this stuff and the cheap crappy transmitters that come with them.. when we’d like to use our new MPM Transmitter with these models too.... however I’d venture to say at least 90% of us haven’t a clue what RF protocol is in the models Receiver because that’s rarely advertised. So here’s the question, does anyone have a website yet that shows a detailed photo of each one.. (Yes, I know there are several hundreds of these that have come out of China) with a column alongside each photo that tells you what protocol by (name or index number) is actually in it ? As you mention, you need that info to bind it and control it. Most of us have this problem on the older heli, quad, and other RC toys, we’ve got but find it’s nearly impossible to know which of the 80? or more possible MPM protocols we should try to use. The supported list is WAY too long to try them all..
    Fact is I believe some aren’t supported yet, and many never will be, unless MPM decides to add an IR ( Infared) transceiver option.
    Anyway, really great video .. thanks Again for your time and effort in putting the custom graphics, and all this key content together in such a clear and concise way.. I Love it !

    Hi Painless360, I got a really dumb question, what are the markings on the gimbals called? I'm using the x-lite pro & there are no markings, I can notice stick postioning. I noticed on the x-lite pro, from the middle stick position to the far left or right is a lot shorter than it seems. On larger controllers it's more wider of course. Between thumb & pinching is the accuracy, I'm fly with thumbs & to change (let's say) the speed by one point is easier & precise with pinching than thumbs. I know it's just one point, but any pilot would know one point is enough to change the flight of thhe drone. Many thnx & take care

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  Před 4 lety

      You know, I'm not sure what those graduations are called officially! Smaller radios often use smaller gimbals with less travel to support the smaller size. The sticks are often height adjustable that can help but will not make up for the smaller movement in degrees. The feel of a radio is a very personal thing, just as in pinchers vs. thumbers. Radios that have the gimbals nearer to the sides of the radio are often considered better for pinching.. Happy flying!

    I have the Taranis x9lite, I'm looking for an MPM that will connect with the Eachine P51 Mini Mustang (V761-1 protocol).
    I got the XJT lite module, but that only seems to work with ACCESS; I can select from items under the 'multi' menu but the module does not power on.
    The module works great with the ACCESS choices, so either there is a trick I don't know or I need different gear.
    I'm considering a Taranis X9D Plus SE (for many reasons) -- what MPM would I need for that tx to work with the V761-1 protocol?
    to be clear -- two separate questions:
    What MPM will allow me to use V761-1 protocol with the Taranis x9lite ?
    What MPM (or other solution, idk) will allow me to use the V761-1 protocol with the Taranis X9D Plus SE ?
    I am assuming that if I get V761 i will have the ability to use all of the other protocols I see listed for MPM, is this correct?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  Před 2 lety

      Range is very subjective. Antenna tuning, alignment, fine tuning, antenna position, local RF noise, quality of components, power levels and many other things affect it. Not all of the 4in1 chips output the same power either.. I have a video in the MPM series that looks at this... Best of luck

      @@Painless360 Thanks for pointing out your video. I watched it. I read on aliexpress, that the iRangeX developers have tested the CYRF6936 on the (tiny) Blade mcpx and similar Walkera Super CP helis, which have very short antennas. Due to their size I doubt they have full range receiver systems. Range on these two helis is stated at 200 m ("Tested Ground Control Distance"). I'd use the iRangeX or rather the JP4in1 on my Blade 230 heli, which is equipped with the Spektrum AR636 full range receiver. I am looking for an estimate on how the range would be. 200 m is not enough, no room for reserve. I of course don't need half a kilometre for a small heli, but 200 doesn't feel right. Both the CYR-chip in the JP4in1 and in my Spektrum tx have a power output of 100 mW. So range, after fine tuning and antenna alignment as well as flying at the same flying field should result in roughly the same range, shouldn't it?

    Hi there I'm trying to help someone out who's trying to connect her iRangeX IRX4Lite multiprotocol module to her FlySky Nirvana radio. Is this possible and if yes please may you refer me to some information regarding this. We're assuming it would be possible since the radio is running OpenTX - just not 100% about hardware connections.. The rest is double-sided tape :p

      The Nirvana still isn't fully supported by OpenTX so not sure what support will be in the cobbled together version of OpenTX that is on the radio (www.open-tx.org/radios.html). Once it is fully supported it will be the same as any other OpenTX radio with an MPM, probably ;)

    I keep on getting a "no sync error" on my taranis when i try to update. I double checked the firmware version.

      A quick google search found this - "A No Sync error means that the module you are trying to flash does not have the MULTI-Module bootloader installed, and the module must be updated once using Flash Multi before you can update it from the radio". Maybe that's the issue? Best of luck

    I got this FRSKY 20S and I wanted to program this thing so I could fly my RC model here in my ranch. not to fly a SpaceX or NASA rocket into orbit. Cause im not a rocket scientist…
    I’m gonna return this transmitter tomorrow. This is just a bad nightmare. Couldn’t even find those menus. Very frustrating to try to switch to this radio brand. What’s the best brand ? The old one JR that works wonders. Not going thru this.

      Sorry to hear you've struggled. FrSky do seem to be targeting non FPV pilots who love fixed wing and are coming from JR, Spectrum and brands like Jeti. Sadly they don't provide the same backup as those other brands.. I like radios from RadioMaster running EdgeTX but they can appear tricky to setup to a new owner, I do have lots of videos to help on those though...
