It's my first time seeing this series and I love it, I love the idea of your machines or tripods as some might call it, it looks like a combination between the 2005 version and the Goliath tripod with a touch of the original version and I love the way it looks

This is amazing. Somehow you managed to create such a strong sence of dread in me. If i saw this as a child, i'd probably still have nightmares about this thing. (although i remeber watching 2006 movie as a kid and the tripods scared me too). There's something about the idea of tripods, even striders from Half Life, that triggers some primal fear in humans, i think. Your 1934 black and white style with these sounds add another flavor to it. Just don't stop please

Wow! This looks absolutely amazing! This is a brilliant reimagining of the book and I can see the inspiration from the Spielberg film. The alien design is brilliant, it’s both mechanical but also clearly alien. The book describes the tripods as being so precise in its movements and so graceful that it gives the illusion of a living creature but it is made of joints and some form of advanced clockwork (like steampunk I suppose). So this works a lot.

I always appreciate long form vids... and I expect they take a long time to put together. re: This version of WOTWs... though it will have many key similarities to the book (and to some degree the major adaptions), and the basic premise, expect some deviation too (and/or expansion). One thing I’m always excited about is how each adaptation changes things for any time period to better fit. I’m hoping to next do a video on the 1953 film.

SHhh :) Yeah, the first videos were really just for fun. I had like, less than a hundred subs back then and didn't really expect any attention at all. I was just slinging them together for my own entertainment and not really worrying too much about it. I think I borrowed a sound early on in the edit, and it all just got lost in the sound mix. I didnt hear the preview until a couple of months later. It snuck in there somehow. I'll redo the sound when it comes to the big final edit. The artillery men and tanks started to shoot at the Martian machine.the poor artillery men soon realize there was a force of a visible shield. It protected the Martian machine from any explosions but that didn’t stop the artillerymen.the Martian shot it’s savage deadly heat ray at. The sound roared like thunder some say they could hear it from town

I've never played that, though I did watch a video from the game. Was it Playstation 1? It's one of the few things out there that has handling machines in it.

As time goes on, there will be all kinds of things going on. People (in animation) are always a tricky thing to bring in, and I've got to work out the best way to do that yet, though I do have a few ideas. We'll absolutely see planes this week though. As for the design, and the overall production, well, I'm a long time fan of WOTWs, and I find it fascinating how it has been interpreted in so many ways over the years. This version is very much my own, and leans into the basic concepts of the book but also the Orson Wells radio play, as well as the 1953 film. I suppose the Spielberg/Cruise film is a slight influence, but much less so. However, I'm probably going to take it in some new directions here and there. I've got some interesting ideas that will be quite different to other versions. The format is different too. More a mosaic of moments. I'm kind of hoping people will be trying to work out what is going on and interpreting it. It's just me producing everything on this, so I have a fair few limitations to get around and I'll have to utilise every trick in the book! Regarding the original design and concept, maybe when I've reached the end I'll do some work on depicting/showing H.G.Wells vision. Might be fun to do a little documentary on the various incarnations as well, and bring that into it. The original animations I did (some that are on here) were actually created for a local production of the radio play (that had been adapted for the UK). Unfortunately, they were sent in with no knowledge of what they were facing, and that was all that was available in the area. Those poor poor men. Used as a test with no chance of survival. Top brass were reported to be disappointed at losing 3 of the Mark 2's so quickly. Intelligence rapidly reported the power of the tripod. A deep level of shock was conveyed in communications. Prime Minister Ramsay Macdonald ordered an immediate meeting of all heads of armed forces. Indeed, panic had set in at Downing Street, and plans were being quickly formulated. But reports of other tripods emerging were already coming in, and they were not prepared for war.

The problem I face is that non of these things (models) are really out there, and when they are, they're expensive (and this is all on zero budget). So I'm having to research and model them myself. You know this is made in 2023 and not 1934? It's only set in 1934 (made to look that way). But also, the 1953 War of the Worlds film had energy shields too.

But one thing I would say is that they aren't really eyes, they're simply heatray barrels. Though, I do go on the concept that the Martians, having studied us closely, are using fear as part of their battle plan. So it's as much to freak people out... large eyes up in the sky, and if it's looking at you, you know you're done. But yeah, I do understand your feelings on it. I love that there are so many takes/styles that can be imprinted on the basic concept of a 3 legged machine (which is amazingly unique in all sci-fi, and stems from one of the earliest sci-fi stories to boot!).
@@matthewmubiru5495 One thing I've learned since starting this series and seeing more and more peoples interpretations, is that a Tripod design is a very personal thing and it really allows an artist to imprint their style on to it. No 2 are the same :) An art exhibition of peoples interpretations would be pretty interesting.
Cheers Jason, when it's completed, I'll be finding a way to make it into a complete film of some sort... one way or the other! What form that takes is hard to know at this point. How that happens will depend upon how much interest the web series gets. Fingers crossed eh!

@@siwatchphanratisra2408 Well, it'll be based on this version of it, but it'll be closer to the book (with a few twists and turns) than any of the other ones currently out there I suppose. Certainly the era is closer. But unless I get a tonne of investment, then it will be as good as I can achieve on zero budget... but I'm pretty resourceful. Anyway, it's very early days. The channel has only been running for 2 months! I'm getting a lot of support from folks on here so far, so fingers crossed eh! See where we're at in a few more months :)
Wonder what has so many people making WotW stuff again, let alone all the effort they’re putting into it. How long did this take for you to make? Was it a more recent thing you made or was it a long term project?
Basically, it was trigged by helping a local theatre group make a radio play performance more exciting. I've always loved WOTWs, so it was a chance to have a bit of fun. The stuff came out really well, given the time I spent on it, and it seemed a shame to keep it hidden away on my hardrive. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to really expand on what I'd done. So, all being well, once I've got a few things out of the way by the end of this month, I'll start putting out videos regularly! As for people producing WOTWs stuff, honestly, I have no idea! It's great it is getting attention though. It's a story that is pretty unique. I love the fact that there are so many versions of it too. I've got some great twists and ideas for my version. Anyway, I'm glad you're along for the ride, and thank you for the interest and positives!
Well, lose they did, but we have to have a little hope. :) I'll see if I can find your harvest noises, and see what I can do. Though I'm not sure it's going to be quite the same as other versions of WOTWs (regarding harvesting), and we've got a ways to go before that point. Hmmm. Well, it went out of service in 1933. So they'd still be knocking about in 1935.Probably in a storage hanger. I'll keep that in mind, because I think they (the air force) will throw everything they've got at them, old or new. Out of interest, what do you like about it so much?

To the book, certainly. What you have to bare in mind is that there are several elements at play in my series... 1. It's set in a totally different year. 2. This whole project was started as an aid to actors on a stage doing the 1938 radio play live. So the origin of this production is from the Orson Welles version. However, after the series took off (surprisingly) I have tried to steer it closer to the book.. however... 3. The version of War of the Worlds I grew up with was the 1953 version, and the shield was part of that. It was a nod to that version. Though, as the series has progressed, I wish I hadn't added it. I wasn't thinking that far ahead at the beginning. In Flight of the 37s, you'll see I worked to make sure that it isn't an over powered defence, and there are ways around it. The long term plan is to make this into one long film, and when it comes to that point, I will decide on whether to remove it altogether. It's a difficult choice. But I assure you, that you aren't alone in your thoughts on this, and I do understand why. Non the less, I hope you enjoy the series regardless. All the very best!

I love that there are so many takes/styles that can be imprinted on the basic concept of a 3 legged machine (which is amazingly unique in all sci-fi, and stems from one of the earliest sci-fi stories to boot!).

@@matthewmubiru5495 One thing I've learned since starting this series and seeing more and more peoples interpretations, is that a Tripod design is a very personal thing and it really allows an artist to imprint their style on to it.

What form that takes is hard to know at this point. How that happens will depend upon how much interest the web series gets. Fingers crossed eh!

@@siwatchphanratisra2408 Well, it'll be based on this version of it, but it'll be closer to the book (with a few twists and turns) than any of the other ones currently out there I suppose. Certainly the era is closer.
But unless I get a tonne of investment, then it will be as good as I can achieve on zero budget... but I'm pretty resourceful. Anyway, it's very early days. The channel has only been running for 2 months!

Wonder what has so many people making WotW stuff again, let alone all the effort they’re putting into it. How long did this take for you to make? Was it a more recent thing you made or was it a long term project?
Basically, it was trigged by helping a local theatre group make a radio play performance more exciting. I've always loved WOTWs, so it was a chance to have a bit of fun.
The stuff came out really well, given the time I spent on it, and it seemed a shame to keep it hidden away on my hardrive.
The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to really expand on what I'd done. So, all being well, once I've got a few things out of the way by the end of this month, I'll start putting out videos regularly!
As for people producing WOTWs stuff, honestly, I have no idea! It's great it is getting attention though. It's a story that is pretty unique. I love the fact that there are so many versions of it too. I've got some great twists and ideas for my version.

Well, lose they did, but we have to have a little hope. :)
I'll see if I can find your harvest noises, and see what I can do. Though I'm not sure it's going to be quite the same as other versions of WOTWs (regarding harvesting), and we've got a ways to go before that point. Hmmm. Well, it went out of service in 1933. So they'd still be knocking about in 1935.Probably in a storage hanger. I'll keep that in mind, because I think they (the air force) will throw everything they've got at them, old or new.

Shields arnt canon
To the book, certainly. What you have to bare in mind is that there are several elements at play in my series...
1. It's set in a totally different year.
2. This whole project was started as an aid to actors on a stage doing the 1938 radio play live. So the origin of this production is from the Orson Welles version. However, after the series took off (surprisingly) I have tried to steer it closer to the book.. however...
3. The version of War of the Worlds I grew up with was the 1953 version, and the shield was part of that. It was a nod to that version. Though, as the series has progressed, I wish I hadn't added it. I wasn't thinking that far ahead at the beginning.
In Flight of the 37s, you'll see I worked to make sure that it isn't an over powered defence, and there are ways around it. The long term plan is to make this into one long film, and when it comes to that point, I will decide on whether to remove it altogether. It's a difficult choice. But I assure you, that you aren't alone in your thoughts on this, and I do understand why.
