    This series is brilliant and compelling. The designs are top-notch, and the voice acting is great. Kinda took me out of it when the reporter said 'ginormous', but retcons never bothered me ... much 😂

      Oh man, you know... sometimes, little things pass you by, and this is one of them. I hadn't even thought about it. Apparently (as I had to research it a bit lol) but apparently, the first usage of the word was around the 2nd world war... so clearly the events of 1934 accelerated the invention of the word because everything Martian is mahoosive. :) ...well, that's the best I can do.
      Other than that, genuinely, thank you most kindly for the positives, and as Tolkien said to the man at the pub when asked why the Eagles didn't fly the hobbits to Mordor, I'll say the same thing... shut up. hehe. :D

      @@waroftheworlds1934 anachronisms happen. is there any way in the world to get a 3D print of one of the tripods? i'm thinking 6-8 inches tall. bonus points if the 'eyes' light up! if that is possible, please tell me how much it would cost. thanks!

      @@jeffbrown3615 Funny you should say that, as that is something I have been thinking about for quite a while. It isn't something I know a tonne about, but I think it'd be great to be able to make the Martian machines as models, make dioramas too.
      I will be looking into it over the next couple of months for sure, and I'll be sure to announce whatever my solution is on the community channel, and maybe even a video to explain it. Not sure yet.
      So keep an eye out for that.
      Just to clarify though, are you looking to buy a model kit to make? Or, do you have a 3D printer and want a digital file? It sounds like the former rather than the later. Cheers!

      @@waroftheworlds1934 i am not much of a model builder, more of a collector of scifi and horror premade models. i don't have a 3d printer, nor the patience to learn how to use one. be careful about passing out your files. i would consider helping you finance a 3d printer, in exchange for the first of a limited run of models.

    So good to see a new episode! This one brought up feelings of the terror of 9/11 for some reason. Just imagining if I was really listening to a radio report at 2am, which is when I'm watching this. Well done.

    • @waroftheworlds1934
      @waroftheworlds1934  Před rokem +2

      Thank you. Yes, there really is a shocking element to the War of the Worlds. Like you say with past events, there is a certain sense of terror or dread... "when will it arrive on my doorstep?!", and an element of inability to do anything about it other than watch (or listen) to the events unfold.
      Really glad you enjoyed this. It's such a different style of content to the action videos, and I'm unsure whether the radio elements will appeal to those that are here for the action. But I also know that the story isn't quite complete without it. It's entirely possible that they might gain an audience of their own. When there are more of them, I'll probably create a separate playlist for late night listening in the dark.
      I've also got a plan to create some old news reel videos, which I think will be good fun and tell the story in a different way.
      Thanks again :)

      @@waroftheworlds1934 Yeah, there are many kinds of storytelling that make up the War of the Worlds, and imo it's nice to have a bit of everything, as they each bring their own flavour to the table.
      The action scenes are good for the terrifying shock and awe effect of the tripods, and the radio broadcasts are good for that creeping sense of dread and impending, inescapable doom.
      Very much enjoying this series! ^^

      @waroftheworlds1934  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Short answer, no. And that might be all you need to know...
      But the longer answer...should you be interested... and i'll try and keep it short...
      This series has quite a strange heritage.
      Originally this whole series began life as animated backdrop visuals for a local theatre performance of the 1930s Orson Welles radio play. The production only ran for a couple of nights, and I put in a lot of work/hours, so I thought, why not put them on CZcams rather than rot on a hard drive somewhere.
      But then it just kind of grew into it's own thing, and people wanted to see more.
      I am trying to be guided by the book as much as I can though, and so it is a fusion of Orson Welles, H G Wells, but also a few nods here and there to the film versions too (1958/2005).
      But it is also very much my own version, and I am writing it as it's own story/production, and it will vary from all of the versions in some small and major ways.
      But essentially, it is just trying to capture the feeling invoked by the book and the radio play and where possible, expand on it all a bit.
      I am trying, to keep the character of the Martians in the book, and explore the technology they used in that telling.
      So there you go. A very short history. I do go into more detail in the description box under the Bomber Run "special features" video if you want to know more.
      But maybe you just wanted to hear, "no it's not based off the 2005 film" :) Though I will say, it's impossible for that not to influence a little bit one way or the other I'm sure. :)
      Cheers for watching!

      Yeah, this was spotted way way back. As for research, there is just me doing absolutely everything. I'm not going to concern myself over being perfect. But if it makes you feel better, then watch the edited version in the live stream because this has already been fixed. But please, don't berate me when I am making this on zero budget with no support and trying my best to be accurate. I am one person, I've not got a Hollywood budget and a dedicated bunch of researchers.
      All the best.

    How long does it take to make a video?

    • @waroftheworlds1934
      @waroftheworlds1934  Před 9 měsíci +1

      It really depends and can be difficult to answer. The shorter ones (that were at the start) not too long at all, a day or so. But that doesn't account for all the modelling and texturing work. The more complicated ones, like the most recent one (Harvest) actually began months ago, when I built the handling machine. But in terms of production and putting together the final shots and all the animation, then it can be a month to two months.
      The thing is, I'm having to do a lot of modelling at the moment, as the locations and setting aren't something well catered to. But as time goes on, production will get quicker as I have a built up amount of assets to play with. Also, each video is getting more complicated, and more moving parts. But, I'd say on average, it's around 4-6 weeks for the longer videos.
      The radio ones take less time, but aren't anywhere near as popular as the big animated pieces.
      I don't know if that answered your question, but it's a tricky thing to answer. Thanks for watching! :)
