The American automobile industry at its peak in 1968. Pontiac built some amazing vehicles and it’s a shame they are no longer with us.

I'll second that Geo. But there were a few more good Ponchos after that too. The youth of today, (40 yrs old and younger), haven't got a clue what a superior riding car feels like. With todays unit-body crap boxes, and thin sidewall tires, it's like riding in a stage-coach with wooden wheels. I miss the days.

@@georgeharleydavidsonrider156 Well, it is a "New Year", but can't say how happy I am about it.
But it's the thought that counts Geo, so thanks, and enjoy yours also. Can't wait for this frigid winter to end. It's pretty cold here, in southern New England.

Pontiac had a great year for 68. They were #3 in the industry again. Their sales were far and away ahead of the rest of the "Medium Priced Field".

My grandfather had a '68 Catalina two-door sedan (!) from 1970 to '77. I really loved that car! I can picture it today if I had it in my possession. I could have put eight-lug wheels on it and stuck a 455 under the hood. It really would have been something!

IF I could go back in time I'd go back to 1969 and buy a FULLY loaded 1969 G.T.O. JUDGE, there is nothing like it!!!
My older cousin had a 1970 plain GTO, no options except for A/C and Automatic.

My ideal 1968 Pontiac is a Bonneville Brougham 4-door hardtop in two-tone Flambeau Burgundy Metallic (body) and Starlight Black (roof; in lieu of a Cordova roof) (order code NA; burgundy and black, respectively) with Burgundy Knit Prima Cloth and Expanded Morrokide upholstery (order code=558). Front disc brakes, among other options, would make it even more desirable!

From the blind left hand turns to blasting through the meadows, zero damns were given in a Pontiac in 1968.

In my opinion, Pontiac was to
me dollar for dollar the best value of the 5 divisions back then. The drove alot better and felt heavier than a Chevy, had better interior materials, and the Pontiac engines were a really good dependable engine.

It interesting to see the 400 emblem on the lower rocker on the GTO. I wonder if the if the Lemans @ 1:01 was a 350 HO car being it had dual exhaust.
