    Most of the videos on this topic leave out lots of parts, but you showed most of the key steps. Great job.
    I, too, will stop my leaks once and for all. Already ripped up the whole carpet before. Wanting to not do that every year.
    Curious of any learnings you might have had from your experiments.

    Great video, thank you!!!
    I had water settling in my drivers side rear seat foot well.
    I cleaned the sunroof drains, and also resealed my air intake under the hood.
    It was a great way to learn my vehicle but didn't fix the problem.
    My issue i finally figured out was the drainage hose from my A/C to firewall (located behind and above the gas peddle), was disconnected pouring all the water from A/C unit directly into my car, under the floor mats, and settling in the lowest part of the vehicle.
    An easy reattachment of the house to firewall with a little silicone to keep it in place fixed the problem.
    Good luck to all.

      Thank you!! This was my issue but it was clogged with debris. I had already checked the sunroof hoses but they were clear and the water was coming from the tunnel area. This was it!

    Good info thanks. I posted a video about taking the carpet out. If you have this problem I strongly suggest you take the carpet out.
    It will never dry inside the vehicle, it needs some light cleaning to get the smell off the foam side.
    And then you can work on fixing the leak. Until u get it fixed , a quick towel dry or shop vac will work to get rid of the water .
    After the fix wait a few weeks to make sure it's fixed. Then put the carpet back in.

    I tried all these things and kept getting water in my 07 XC90. It drove me crazy for a long time. But it ended up being a really easy fix. The water was coming from the cabin air filter area and flooding the passenger side. The problem was my condensate drain line was clogged. The condensate drain line (on my model) runs to the drivers side floor. I lifted the carpet on the drivers side and you'll see a hose and connection. Disconnect this hose and blow the line clear. Mine was actually clogged right at this connection.

    Thanks for sharing your experience. Went through the same problem with ours. Leakage issues are serious design flaws of the XC-90, especially when considering their new purchase cost.

    I just picked up a used 2005 XC90, and I was told the same thing is wrong with this SUV. I've checked out a few videos online and by far, this one was and is the most informative. Thanks and I'll let you know how it works out.

    The water leak in my xv70 was a godsend. It drowned all the mice living under the carpets. But then they started to rot, and that's when things went downhill.

    I believe your problem is the drain tubes that run from your sunroof, over the front doors and out above the wheelwells. I cleaned the gunk out of mine today, took about 20 minutes to fix both sides. There are a few tutorial videos here on youtube.

    • @theblindref4u
      @theblindref4u Před 4 lety

      That grommet you cut leads to another hose that goes right to your wheel wells. You can see that hose under ther carpet right where the water's at

      Was this causing a leak on the driver side floorboard only? That's our issue

  • @majorpuggington
    @majorpuggington Před 2 lety

    I believe this is exactly my issue. I poured a cup of water in the sunfoor drain in the front corner and it soaked the base of the a pillar cover, the rest trickling down from behind the glove box down to the footwell. Im afraid of breaking the clips on the trim but gotta stop this leak! Thanks for posting.

    this problem is very common with audi vw bmw mercedes and volvo . its a cowl drains that are plugged with leafs and dirt. water can't drain quick enough from cowl while its raining hard or washing your car at the car wash . so the level of the water is rising up until its going over the cabin vent opening or cabin air filter and going inside your car . thats the reason you have wet floors in your car in the front or behind the front seats in most cases. i would check this first.

    i had a similar problem. the smaller hole mentioned at 1:40 is the drain... maybe 30cm down that tube there is a 90 degree angle.. but this part can be removed by hand ( it is rubber) from the engine compartment. on the righthandside of the car there is a similar tube,, in my case these were blocked by leafs etc.... anyway thank you for this video

    I had this same problem with mi XC70, and though about doing the same thing you did, until i changed the window glass, and the rubber band that comes with it, and the problem was completely solved.
    anyway, if you don´t want to change the window, its a good way to repair the leak

    One good thing that works for me on my Volvo S80 (any car I guess), at least with the sunroof drainage tube, is by pouring about three cups of warm soapy water directly over the sunroof drainage channel so that it could drain down through the tube and out under the car by the right front tire area. That way you can clean out the tube with little damage and you can ensure that you have no blockage in your entire drainage system. I would not use any drain cleaner that could damage the plastic or tubing and I would not use an air compressor to purge the tubes. The sunroof drainage system is not intended to withstand air or water pressure under compression, doing so might cause the tubes to rupture or break loose from their fittings. If you do have a blockage and you can't clear it using warm soapy water, you might have to opt for replacing all the tubes. Since I live in Southern California, we don't typically have too many issues. However, I still pour warm soapy water down the tube just to make sure it never will clog.

    That 'big hole' is your fresh air intake. its a good idea to inspect and clean these areas. I hope you used neutral cure silicone so it doesnt cause rust.

    Wet/dry vac he floor, or take to car wash with vacuum. I had leak on drivers side yrs ago. Need to clean out channels around sunroof. Gets clogged from debris. It's been yrs but now happened in passenger side.
