My dad is 78 and went on a cruise to Fiji and absolutely LOVED IT. It's more about your health... He is absolutely loving the retirement, and he still runs and goes to the gym.
FOCUS ON YOUR HEALTH!
He can still run..........ok, that puts him in the top 1% of his age group late 70's to early 80s.
At 56, with health issues it meant early retirement with little savings, turning to investing became my lifeline. Now I'm retired at 58, with over $3M saved, It's been a journey from uncertainty to security and peace.
to be realistic, Luck plays a significant role more-so than the resources to thrive with investing. without it, it's very challenging to succeed, I've been there
when its consistent, its not considered luck. I attribute this to research which was the challenging part before it led me to Emily Ava Milligan, a top fund manager, in turn she made 310k into this and counting
I pasted her name into my browser, and her website popped right up. It quickly became clear how popular her sessions were. Your example is rare, i wish i had it sooner. Thanks for the share
Nope, didn't fall for it. 100 YT accounts circle-jerking back off each other still wouldn't get me interested in that website 🤣
The retirement age is like a carrot in front of a donkey.
I Agree!
😂
If you slave on a 9-5 then absolutely
Well said!
Do people actually get excited about retirement and think that they're going to have this great life once they retire? For me the word "retirement" just has a sort of gloomy connotation, I don't get excited about being 70 and retiring. You can't get your youth and health back. If world travel is something you want to do, you need to find a way to fit it into your younger years.
It's really sad, what they're looking forward to is freedom; the moment the master finally lets them out of the cage.
Not only are they old and physically fragile by then, but their minds are so weighed down by years of drudgery & indoctrination that most of them don't even have the desire & curiosity left.
My wife and I got married in 89, got jobs in Japan teaching English for six years from 90, saved up and then traveled the world for over a year. We returned to the US, got jobs and had a family. I'm 65 now and think about the adventures we had every day. No regrets
Many people hear retire and think of old people. If you save/invest then maybe you will have enough $$ at 45 or 50 and retire. You don't have to be old to retire.
@@jinglyjones1677 😂. Speak for yourself, everyone is different
@@rdrdrd7777 lol another one who can't wrap his head around the concept of a generalisation. Noone here is talking about every individual on Earth, are they? Tit
I said f-it and built out a camper van 3 years ago so I could see the parts of the united states I've always wanted to see. I know damn well my knees and cranky brain wont be up for it when im 70. Thanks for putting this message out there.
I'm 67 years old and retired. What you say about old people struggling with the heat and walking in resorts is true. But do you want to know what is worse ? Seeing some sixty year old working as a waiter at Red Lobster or working at some non profit for minimum wage. All because they didn't save a dime when they were younger. I do regret that I never got to ride a motorcycle to Alaska when I could. I do wonder how I'm going to survive a Trans-Pacific flight. Looking back i should have taken a few sabbaticals when I was younger instead of worrying that I was going to get fired or be unable to get another job.
But I'm grateful I saved my money and planned for my future. I see too many live for today types become wage and debt slaves as they got older. I see too many people my age who know they will have to work until they drop.
I totally agree with this. I don't necessarily think that retiring in your 60s and 70s is this horrible thing, it's certainly better than working till you drop. I think the issue he's getting at is that our society is designed such that you never really get good chunks of time off in your 20s and 30s when you would benefit most from them. I think in some Nordic countires it's easier to get sabbaticals.
Yes, this is an excellent point. Rule one is pay yourself first. I save 10 percent ( want to save more ) , constantly work on decreasing my expenses, and work on developing a skill that is in demand in the market. When ever I get a raise, I don't use it to improve my lifestyle, I use it to add to my monthly saving budget. Last year my goal was to get to 10 percent of savings, my next goal is to hit 15 percent.
He never said you can't save and travel. He is just talking about the corporate line of traveling when one is older.
I agree. Try living your golden years in poverty it’s not very golden. Yolo mentality can come back and bite you.
@@tombkk1322 Actually, if you lived a full life before you got elderly....that might be a good trade off, for some. Everybody has their own definition of "full life" but here it is in the context of travelling and seeing a bit of the world.
My dad always wanted to retire, he has been telling my mom that he will work hard, save and earn, when he retires, they can enjoy the fruits of their labor. He died from cancer. Don't wait for retirement, do the things you want now. Cut your cost of living, pay down your debt, save 3-6 months of expenses and go enjoy live. I live a very minimalistic life style by design. I found that the more thing I had, the less free I felt.
Develop a marketable skill, cut your burn ( cost of living ) and do the things you enjoy. We are led to believe that we need to buy lots of things, a big house, and a nice car. But all those things are just ways of trapping us.
There are two ways to get very rich, be born into a rich family or get really lucky. For most of us, that will never happen. So for me, I acknowledge that fact, and will just focus on living below my means, doing what I want, and striving to be as free as I can.
Good evening! Question,DO you have children ? The reason why I ask that question is almost every time I hear people say they are minimalist and they live beneath their means they don't have children. Can you live the way you described with wife and kids? God bless.
@@DERRICKLEONIDAS365 yes, I started early, I am 43 and my daughter is 23.
If you have children, it is very hard, since you have responsibility to provide the best life for them.
Lol, as my daughter was growing up I was not a minimalist.
That is why now, I don't take my free time for granted.
Her mom passed away last year in a car accident. So I am now all by myself.
Relationships are hard, so now I am focusing on just living life as simple as possible.
But that is not for everyone nore is it recommended.
But for me, it is what I am doing.
Excellent video. 70 here and I play pickleball 5 days a week for 3-4 hours at a time. Stay active, lift weights, do balance exercises, eat healthy, avoid alcohol and tobacco, enjoy your friends and most important have fun while living BELOW your means debt free.
1) Enjoy life now. If you're smart, you can have plenty of fun and still save money for the future.
2) Traveling is the most overrated thing I've done. Hawaii and Maui are fun. Do it 2-3 times. Europe once in your life is recommended, but that's it.
3) Have enough to live comfortably, then retire.
Retirement as a concept has been for a long time a wealthy person's priviledge.
If you are working class or in the low echelon of society...you work until you drop dead or are physically unable to.
Very few people in the real world can just pack up and travel for extensive periods of time...
Indeed!👍👍👍
Problem is I have a large mortgage (death contract) to pay preventing me from doing these things now.
Same. And a young child.
Dump the house. Get something smaller.
downsize! I own a dumpy "shack' outright in a location where my property taxes are $400 a year because I qualify for a homestead exemption. i just use it as a cheap base of operation. It is cheaper than renting a storage unit.
A lot of people aren't living.. They just want to make it, achieve that goal, have lots of money, retire happy... But when the times come, your life best years are behind and you missed out..
I lost over $70k when everything started to tank. Not because I was in an exchange that went belly up. I was just stupid to hold and because that's what everyone said. I'm still responsible. It just taught me to be a better investor now that I understand more of what could go wrong. It took me over two years of being in the market, I'm really grateful I found one source to recover my money, at least $10k profits weekly. Thanks Patricia Annie Brooks.
Wow. I'm a bit perplexed seeing her been mentioned here also Didn’t know she has been good to so many people too this is wonderful, i'm in my fifth trade with her and it has been super.
You trade with Annie Brooks too? Wow that woman has been a blessing to me and my family.
YES!!! That's exactly her name (Annie Brooks) so many people have recommended highly about her and am just starting with her from Brisbane Australia🇦🇺
I'm new at this, please how can I reach her?
Her good reputation already speaks for her .I’m also one of the beneficiary of Annie Brooks. So happy I gave it a trial after being skeptic of the process.
So many people get suckered into thinking one day they will be able to do it.
Retire early 👌💪💪
I am in my later 50s and I am in the best shape of my life. What has changed however, is my energy level. The best way I can explain it to someone who is younger is to imagine you stayed out late and got to bed at 3 AM, when the alarm goes off at 7 AM, all you want to do is roll over and go back to sleep. There are many things I want to do but it takes a lot of effort to "make" myself do them because my body is whispering "just a few more minutes rest" but no matter how much rest, it never gives me the energy I had when young, so it is with me always and always has to be fought. Would I enjoy and am I physically capable of strenuous travel, sure but the mental "push" I have to give myself to do it grows with each passing year. Just my personal take.
Drink lots of coffee 😜
I'm 53, n going through menopause🥴 I know exactly how you feel. My husband is 50, n wants to see the 🌎 we have the time, means n no kids! I just don't know if I can keep up! I'm tired all the freaking time😩
Man you hit it on the nose with this video straight 100% facts. I'm 57yo not retired my first trip to Philippines was brutal I'm from New Orleans and it gets hot their but the Philippines is a different type of heat 🥵 🔥 ☀️. Thank God I'm still pretty healthy I'm a pescaterrian. Last year my buddy wanted to go with me he's not in not so of good of health, HP, diabetes I told him makes sure you consult with his DR well that didn't sit well with him he got mad at me thinking I'm tryna run his life. I didn't say a word he has to learn the hard way. As soon as we landed and arrived in mactan Airport he felt that heat 🥵 after 2 hours in the trip he told me that he's not feeling well. He apologized to me for not believing me.
haha.....good story, thanks
I don't associate retirement with travelling, as I don't like travelling. One less thing to worry about.
They waited too late to retire. I was lucky enough to take a chunk of pension at 50. We did a couple of trips that I wouldn't necessarily want to do again. My wife has trouble with arthritis now. I don't think we'll be taking any more exotic vacations.
Well said, I completely agree. My wife and I have been fortunate to travel the world and live in multiple Caribbean islands. Currently I work with a dozen of wealthy people over 65 who are renovating tropical vacation rentals and they all have one thing in common, they wish they would have traveled and moved around when they were younger. Not now when they're tired and in bad health.
Come on man!!!! It’s not that easy to just quit a job and “travel” costs money and time and the. You come back and can’t find work.
I am retired and has no dream to travel...No thank you 🇿🇦. I really very happy in South Africa 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
It all depends on the person goofus. I've seen "old" people running marathons and I've also seen "young" people looking like jabba the hut.
YEs the elderly running marathons are the top 5% or less of their age group. For almost all of us, that will not be the reality.
I Just can't grasp how people can say that their work is just a means to an end for or untill you can reach these so called long term goals. I feel like it's a means to MY end. I don't have wealth or possessions as a motivator as some do, I just enjoy having the opportunity to experience this life. I tried exercise(still do), working on projects or atleast attempting to have something more fulfilling after or before the work shift. it just ends up going back to square one, when the work just drains all energy to put into those routines or activities. You can't just stop working and go homeless, you have to have that as a set routine but it just destroys all the other routines where i find actual fulfillment, not gaining wealth for retiring resorts and destinations.
I’m on the journey to finding myself and discovering all that I love. Thank you for always sharing! ❤
The thing is we just have to take care of ourselves the older we get. We should eat the right kinds of foods, stay active, avoid stress, etc. Many of the Americans who I hung around with in Thailand were in their 60s and 70s and they could move around VERY well. There wasn't much that I could do that they couldn't. Thailand provided the environment where one could stay in shape. Because, firstly you won't need a car. Second, there's not a McDonalds, etc. on every other corner. But, yes, we definitely should start NOW instead of SOMEDAY because "SOMEDAY" may never come and we don't know what unforeseen things that may manifest in our future!
Healthy lifestyle will probably help you reach older age with fewer hidrances, but anyone can get cancer or some other debilitating disease regardless of what they eat or how much they go to the gym. That's mortality... you never know when or what is going to take you out.
Some people are just ok with doing their part in a society and don't view work as something "bad" or "outrageous", thus not really looking towards the old age and retirement.
You are speaking the REAL truth. This guy on the video is so so, wrong in his thinking.
So do it cause it is how it is? Sounds like you been enslaved and well. Very smart mindset you got there
@@aymfar8656 indoctrination is a powerful thing and hard for a lot of folks to go against the grain. Everyone should read the book Die with Zero.
You guys are the best parents in the world! Wish you the best Dorian!
Dude, my dad does not get tired walking around, he's 78. He goes for runs and the gym during the week... Seriously, maybe people should lay off the sugar and eat well.
Agree
Yeah....daily exercise and laying off sugary foods and drink helped me with losing weight and being a lot healthier in retirement Good for your dad.
@@user-ep3ck5re4odude he’s talking about the majority not the minority like your pops
Your old man is in the top 5% of less among his peers in physical fitness. For most of us, that will not be reality
Just keep the weight off, stay active, and everything will fall into place.
Regardless of age, if you are not healthy and/or physically active enough to walk and move around, it doesn't matter where and when you plan to travel. This video reminded me to put more focus on what I need to eat on a daily basis, learning and practicing stress and sleep management, as well as staying physically in shape by exercising daily. Health is the key no matter what.
I retired at 42 and bought a sailboat…. Best decision I ever made…
😁⛵️☀️
Now I am exploring the planet.
I retired at the age of 38. I am now almost 52 years old and still enjoying life.
Why wait until that age? To notice you can't do much of everything because all your youth and energy was spent working for someone, making them money, meanwhile barely surviving. This is the reality for many people and it's sad. Sure, there are exceptions and there are healthy people at old age, but that is a small percentage of the global population that fits into that category. You hit the spot, Dorian. It's a trick indeed that most people fall for. But imagine all the people in the world doing what they want and nobody wanting to work for these big companies. This world would look very different. And we surely won't have all this technology. In my opinion we would be a bit better than we were before the last industrial revolution. This is exactly what they want from people, to work until they die. If more people will learn to say "No." we would see change. Have fun traveling! Take care, stay safe!
I’m retiring at the end of this year at age 56. The opportunity cost is enormous: I get over $500,000 per year from my job, and save 100% after taxes because my expenses are covered by dividends. But the opportunity gain by retiring is also enormous.
That's awesome! You should be set. Enjoy!!!❤
we have one only life to live or you spend your best years of your life working or you work toward living your life long and enjoyable as possible.
You are one of the lucky few
@@commonsenseisntcommon1776 Financially, yes, but not in terms of relationships. Never married, no kids. What a shame.
$500,000 a year is ridiculous. Enjoy retirement but also curse you.
I’ve said this for years . Since 30 I made it a goal to travel at least 1 time out of country per year . Since then I am now 41 and I have allowed myself 2 trips per year recently . I still have so much more to see . I now value me more then money
Hey man, I love to see you are living the dream...see the world while still young! ✈🙌 I travelled around the globe for a year as a CZcamsr and I've worked in tech for 10 years in Seattle so we have a lot in common. 👍 Let me know if you ever want to do a collab or anything really. It would be fun to talk about traveling as a youtuber/programmer. Your channel is great! Best wishes in your journey!
I realized this in my late 30's. At that point I made a promise to myself that we would take an international trip at least every 3 years (more often if possible) until I need to stop and be available to help my parents. I'm an only-child and my parents are divorced and both live alone.
I'm 50 now and I haven't once regretted keeping that promise. We travel for a week every 2 years now that my parents are close to an age where I will probably have to put that promise on hold for a time.
Amen. People want comfort, not adventure as seniors. Also, the coolest places to visit are definitely not getting any cooler with each passing year.
I feel like your 30s and 40s are best for traveling as long as you're in decent shape. Saving for retirement becomes so much more difficult if you've missed out on the compound interest money multiplier in your 20s. Unfortunately you have no choice but to save for it since age discrimination in the workplace is rampant and you'll probably be forceably retired before 65. But the FIRE people with extreme ambitions like retiring at 40 are making a mistake I think. Unless you're one of the few coming out of school with an insane salary, you're gonna be missing the best years of your life.
It's always a time/money thing. Most dont get the money until we are old!
Amazing video as always!
Thanks Guillaume!
I retired at 41 and now at 44 miss work more than ever.
Isn’t early retirement reversible if you so wish? What’s the problem unless you are physically/mentally unfit
I'm 44, haen't worked since 34. But I don't miss working for a corporation. I have books to read, a child, a cat, a large dog, a garden and house to maintain.. and 3 MEALS A DAY too shop for and cook and clean up after. Who has time for a job? And lots of planning this and that in between.
@@nh154321 looking for attention and showing off.
I am also 44 and don’t miss working at all, but it’s been less than 2 months for me. I prefer personal growth to professional one. Being stress free is also a huge perk. I love filling my schedule with pleasant events, only seeing people I want to see, being available to friends and family. But some people love working and that’s totally fine, someone got to do it, we can’t all be retired 😂. Unretiring should be relatively easy if it’s not your cup of tea
Dude, you found a reason to be upset while you are on your vacation. What lie? What trick? Who told you that. Marketing and companies, does what it does. You go in vacation and retire when you can. There was never a promise that things are gonna be easy or the best years of your life. Get there when you can, you do you, save your money, stretch everyday, know what you are buying into, check your privilege, find your balance, and above all be grateful NOW.
If you haven't heard the bs peddled by people that you just need to work hard and save up for retirement to enjoy your retirement years, then good for you I guess? Why some of you people will deliberately miss the point of what a person's saying just for the sake of dismissing them, I'll never understand but it's truly funny af. Because how you brushed this video off as him having just "finding something to be mad at" boggles the mind. What video did you listen to? Sounds like you're the one looking for something to be mad at. 🤣

I just returned from a group tour of England. At least a third of the group was in no shape for the extensive walking on uneven ground. At 73 I felt borderline and realized I need to get in shape to fully enjoy future adventures.
My advice to young adults is establish your basic security early on; buy a house you can pay off in 15 years and drive cars that you can afford with no payments. Don’t try to buy your kids happiness..enjoy making memories while they are with you. Once house is paid off most are free of major debt. CC debt is a definite NO. Save what you can toward your future but there’s no point in hoarding a million dollars to retire on.
If you are realistic in your retirement plans you can easily live on SS if you have no debt and relatively good health.
THIS IS ONE OF THE VERY BEST VIDEOS I HAVE EVER SEEN ON CZcams. THE TOPIC, THE SPEAKER WAS VERY CLEAR WHERE I COMPLETELY UNDERSTOOD WHAT HE WAS SAYING, ALOT OF GOOD POINTS, HOME RUN!!!! THANK YOU I APPRECIATE AND THIS VIDEO WAS VERY HELPFUL.
Can't hear you
Travelling is definitely for younger people. I love planning holidays almost more than going on holiday. It’s a 24hr flight for me to get to visit my family in UK. I have been doing this every 6 months for 10years whilst my parents were in care, financially it’s been crippling.
This is the sad truth. I wish I would have traveled more in my younger years.
Funny thing is, I kinda realize this years ago. Working in retail and seeing young and old people's almost dead eyes made me think of that silly but probably true meme I read. "The phrase earning a living means you do not deserve to live in the first place."
You look healthy and happy here mate. Whatever you are doing I say keep doing it. 👍
My dad is 69 and my mom is 65 and they travel a lot and enjoy it. Both are still in good health where they are still having good mobility. The biggest thing I have noticed about them like you were saying in this video is you get tired a lot of quicker when you're older. When they comeback from their vacation trips it takes them a week to recover, and they are tired. I agree with your message though it's much better to do all these activities when you are younger vs old.
Hear Hear 👏 The word says it all "ReTired", tired over and over again.
Excellent content
For those wondering how to carve out blocks of time while young, I would encourage them to investigate a career in maritime. I have worked on ships since 2015. Right now I work about 75 days on, get 60 days off. While on board you have room and board covered. I travel on my time off since the ship I am on now doesn't really have an interesting route, but there are plenty of ships that travel internationally. It isn't for everyone, you are working those 75 days straight without a day off, but you can bankroll just about your whole paycheck since you don't have living expenses while on board. There are many options, I work in the galley. Check it out, for those who like to travel it is a great option. Also a great option if you are paying off debt or trying to save for something big like a downpayment on a house.
cool- thanks. Im just approaching that period but it so happens that I travel a lot for my job and have taken my family all over over the years on great holidays etc. Ill take your advice anyway..
You seem to be in a great shape here! Keep it up! :)
My sentiments exactly 💯

I’m 60 years young and have no plans to retire soon. I’m a Cook, an Electrical Engineering Technician, a Slot Machine 🎰 Technician and Dj! Don’t have time for vacations, having too much fun.🤗
I just bought me a 2024 Camper RV.
Life is better when you’re older.
Do both… travel well now and later … I also love traveling in Asia. Save and work on your health for a better retirement balance is good.
At 64, I retired to Jomtien Thailand in Nov 2023. Yes the heat and humidity can be pretty bad, but I just get up before the sun does. I take morning walks down Jomtien beach then spend the hottest hours in my air conditioned $300/month condo napping and watching youtube or movies and I also read quite a bit. Maybe once or twice a week, after the sun goes down, I'll take a ten minute ride into sincity/Pattaya and feel the buzz from this exotic foreign city. It's still humid at night but typically there's a nice breeze coming in from the beach. It reminds me of a hot summer night from my youth in Wisconsin. The big difference is that in Wisconsin I couldn't stop and get a $6 hour long foot massage from a beautiful Thai lady.Don't get me wrong, it's not for everyone, but Thailand is paradise to me.
68 year old here. I travel everywhere. I traveled when I was young and I travel now. It's different but no less enjoyable.
As long as you stay in shape, it can be done. Of course, I'm pretty petite so leg room is not a problem for me.
So your good with a 17hr flight lucky you then another 8hr flight 🙄
Very true brother...
My dad works his ass off for the railroad. In his last few months before retirement he had a heart attack and passed away. This has opened my eyes to the American system. I love this video about life very few CZcamsrs talk about it.
As a subscriber that wants to see you improve your channel, 2 ideas:
- Consider adding a little of “nomad youtuber” content
- Add more structure/preparation to the self-improvement side of your channel.
I feel this would get a much bigger percentage of your current subscribers engaged + new ones.
Good luck!!
The wife and i went on a ton of trips tp Cuba, Columbia, Florida, Nevada, Across canada. We borrowed off our home and now we are retired with money but we have health problems. I was sitting at the ocean in Cuba one day and I suddenly noticed that we never seem to see retired older people. The other thing is that travel insurance is almost free till your 50 then the bogus forms come out so they don't have to pay. One couple in canada got a 350,000. bill for a 9 day stay in Hospital in Florida. They declined because he scrapped his knee at age 12 and the form was seyt up to fool him.
Unless things change in the US, use the pre-retirement age to scope out foreign destinations to retire in. Don't buy a new house, new car, or any other expensive purchase...use that for traveling as Dorian suggests. I am 50 and do not plan on retiring in the US, India is likely the destination as I am a OCI card holder.
Take advantage of being American, not being in America...
Yeah exactly, America is overpriced and there are other countries to see.
Thank you Dorian for your message, this is helpful for me!
Thanks for telling the truth. That is me know.
I'll have so many health problems by the time I'm old that I won't be able to leave the house. I already have some health problems at 39.
Not. Retired at 57 and love visiting Europe. Who says "dude" at your age??
Knowing your limitations is the key when you get older. I retired at 62 and went to live in the Philippines. I do the things I want to do. It's planning and staying healthy.
i can't wait to buy my place in phuket. My east asia base.
Any tips on how you get your kids into school? Doing Homeschooling?
Actually, some aches and pains do go away as you age. When I was 30, it would kill me to take even a 4 hour flight, just from back pain. Now, I M d and I would just sleep through it. Older folks can do some things that young people hate, just because they aren’t trying to squat 400 pounds in the gym, or nursing a nasty hangover from drinking all night. Thanks
You are right on many points. As a 61 yo retired man, I was fortunate enough to take every opportunity to travel. I went on over 50 trips in Canada, the US, Europe, Northern Africa and Asia. Today, I don’t feel the need to travel so much anymore. Wife and I are very comfortable at home. Over the years, long plane trips have become tedious. I don’t particularly like planes and airports where everything is overpriced. There is now over tourism in many places. I am fortunate that I have taken ski trips in the Italian alps when I was in my early thirties because my knees are now hurting. South east Asia is way to hot for me, I prefer cooler less humid climates. So the message is travel when your young because you might lose the appetite for it later in life. Plus I find that travelling is a bit overrated.
Yeah. I've often thought the same thing. Marketing gimmick from financial advisors to save more money.
Lets see...I am 57 and retire in a few years with a very good pension as well as investments. We go on many trips a year right now. You have a point but just need to stay active. I am a competitive cyclist as well as Pickleball player. I hike, paddleboard and shoot guns as that was my job in the military. How we think of age is relative to how old we are. When I was 40 I thought 65 was old. Not anymore. I love the heat of foreign countries and will be fine when I retire as will millions others. Good video though but doesnt apply to all older people!
So true.
Never believed in making plans for retirement or dream about going on holidays. It’s always been about working to survive. They only have a retirement age to make you believe you can stop working when the reality is you get less than minimum wage in your pension. Then when you earn a little too much they can’t wait to tax you. The tell you you can salary sacrifice and pay less tax when what they really mean is you can reduce your standard of living, sit in a corner and do nothing until it’s time to work the next day. We don’t have a choice between working or not working because if you don’t work you don’t get paid and if you don’t get paid you dont pay bills. This choice is only for those professionals who can get paid 6-12 times a working class wage.
What skills would I need in order to travel? I barely makes 63k a year and inflation has mad saving impossible!
Move in a van while working like i did and travel.
You can get a travel job. Working on a cruise ship or being a flight attendant. Many of these jobs require a customer service background. All God willing of course.
Question do you still not smoke? I’m trying but man it’s hard
This is the most beautiful video you've ever made bro, in every way. Beautiful message man
I will retire in 2.5 years at 56. I love walking and hiking, and i am in good shape. 😊
When I was 26, and upon the advice of my father, I took a job with the Federal Gov't. At 56 (five years ago), I retired with a nice pension and good health coverage. I live in Orange County, CA and can comfortably survive on my retirement including paying my mortgage, insurance and property taxes. I don't travel the world because I hate airplanes. Did I love working in an office under fluorescent lights with a bunch of idiots? No, it was a total challenge. But I knew that if I put in 30 years, I would be able to retire while young and hopefully healthy. It's all about sacrifice ... which is something that no one is capable of these days.
I’m the exact opposite. I retired at 26 because my parents at 18 made me start a construction company. I’m thankful that I have only worked 10 years of hard labor in my life. Congrats on your accomplishment.
The same arguments could be made about having work all day in old age. But your point is good, retire early if you can and go travelling if you can afford it. Don’t put it off. I was able to retire at 55 and have never looked backed. Hot countries are fine for old people as long as the health care side is sorted. Good video however as your central message is good advice.
1000% I "retired" at 51 because America was charging my 31% tax.
I retired because the US Treasury says our Social Security will run out by 2033! And it will pay out only 79% of what I put in.
I retired at 51 because there is NO LIFE AFTER 70 according to my friends who are 70+ years old.
Live your life, check out early on your own terms!
Retirement is a modern concept and so is traveling.
This is 100% true
Angor watt! I gotta go there lol hope I spelled that right
It's nice that so many young ppl see this now. Seems I'm going to drop my corpo job without any plans ....
2 things here, I can't speak for all of SE Asia but I can speak for Thailand and Philippines because I am here. Their are thousands of western men in their 50s 60s 70s and even 80s running around here on scooters with pretty young ladies half their age on the back. I know because I'm one of them. I'm 60yo, no medications and can do whatever I want with no limits although maybe a bit slower at times than in my 20s. Second, the vast majority of Americans and Canadians are simply not interested in spending their time and resources in Asia but would rather travel to Europe instead. I spent 4 years traveling Europe recently and the amount of senior nomads is plentiful. Europe is much closer to their roots and many older people want to learn where they came from. The weather in Europe is much better for older people to explore. The real tragedy here is not aging but younger people 30s 40s and 50s bodies falling apart because or their terrible soy sugar wheat corn and processed food diet they grew up on. I can see the doom and gloom thinking young people have because they are consumed with social media crap. The "I want it now" generation needs to understand us older folks grew up in the 70s with insane inflation and high unemployment. Oh ya we were told in the 70s we are heading into an ice age and the earth would be solid ice by now.
I agree with most of what you just said.....
Food is bad, the healthcare system being a a complete business. Patients are no longer called patients, they are now called clients. I don’t know but the future is not looking too good.
My dad is 88 and walks 4 miles a day. Stay fit
Retirement in America once my generation gets to retirement 110!
If you need a swift kick in the ass, listen to Pink Floyd's song "Time," and make sure you can read the lyrics. Time is not our friend.
Life is short that sucks tbh 😞
true man!
This is exactly what MJ Demarco says in his books in the fastlane millionaire and in Unscripted.
For some working could be more fun than retirement
Yup
My old man waited. Now he has cancer and can't do much.
It's too hard to retire now. Pension age keeps going up because we apparently spend too much time bed ridden in retirement homes.
