I own one and it’s amazing jaw dropping performance plus great mileage to the Gallon with four dogs roof box + my partner on holiday trips you can surprise anything with this car
It’s the Swiss Army knife of the car world. It literally does everything. Doesn’t even bottom out over speed bumps. Was going to lower it on ACS springs, but I’ve got used to the slightly-too-high stance and the number of speed bumps where I live made it a no-no.
Definitely don't use a magic sponge on the steering wheel. It will absolutely ruin it and remove the black dye very quickly. A light leather cleaner or bmw leather wipes is your best bet. Clean with one cloth and dry with another and you are winning. Great video by the way. I've had mine remapped by celtic tuning and its an absolute rocket. 772nm of torque is insane coupled with 400bhp, not many cars on the road today can compete with it. Best all-rounder car in my opinion, I don't see me changing it any time soon and I've owned it nearly 3 years 😊

Ive got a 335d GT Xdrive. What a car
I have a 335d m sport touring , also had a 435d m sport. Quite simply amazing car. Your review is spot on and very on point Ty. I would say out of the touring and 435d the touring wins due to the practicality of an estate, both cars excel.
Good review, thinking of getting 335d touring as had 335d coupe from 2007 to 2014, work and play did 250k miles quite easily. Went through a few springs, i think they were a bit on the small side but can't remember much other probs
Get one of these with just a stage 1 map and stage 3 Xhp gearbox map u are FLYING
I borrowed a friend's new 335d for a quick blast, omg flooring it from standstill, it seemed to consider what to do for a few milli seconds ,then just buggered off at a rate of knots which iam not proud of😇.
Fantastic review, lots of information and very thorough description of everyday living with this car. I'm torn between one of these and the V6 TDI Audi A4 or A5. Also spot on about the M25, lane discipline seems to go out the window and everyone sits at 60mph!

I have a 2016 335d touring...like it but my old 330d E91 touring still pulls on my heart strings!!
I own a 2006 330d E90 with a Stage 1 tune. 270 bhp and 625 Nm and a 6-speed manual. It's an absolute sleeper and a blast to drive. The old M57 is a bulletproof monster. Love it.
Ive got a 2010 mapped e92 330d manual....had it 11years....its got 175k on it now....still a hoot to drive n keeps up with a lot of new stuff. Plus i prefer the hydraulic steering over the f series epas. Im gonna go m4 or 435d next..still undecided....brain says 435d but heart says m4 n the m4 just looks so mean
I find with the latest android 15 beta the battery life and overall fluidity of the phone improved drastically.
Probably the best car in the world in real world especially the touring....

@@trsiskoi haven't had any issues with the car yet. mileage is not super high at 10.700km.
I also have an old bmw 335d from 2006 that still runs like a dream after 42.000 km.
These engines can almost last forever if you keep up with maintenance.

i love my F31 335d and i drive it 40k km per year but it makes me sad that the day will come when i have to sell it. i think i will buy a 335d again but LCI :D

Love my 330d and easy car to tune for very solid power, but my 320d still is my goto car for daily use. :) Not same power and maybe not as "fun" but solid power and you go forever on one tank.

Great review.... Ive got a 2017 Bmw335d xdrive lci, bought it standard and then tuned it. currently fastest with stock turbos in the world, 0-60 in 2.9, 1/4 mile in 11.2, 30-70 in 2.7.
Absolutely love it as the best all rounder, ive had very powerful rwd skylines in the past and they are fun but only usable power in perfect dry conditions. ;-)
What tuning have you had done mate?
Do I need to be worried about timing chains with these ?

@@Thuds593 no, as long as you turn off the start stop feature.
So I had bmw x5 35d and did 167k with out any engien problem. Yet did not knownthen that had to change the oili in the gearbox plus the rear air suspension went. And to be honest that is all. The gearbox was my fault as just did not get enough information. But the engine, change oil once a year or every 8k miles. And I sold the car with 167k. Of course changed for the newer x5 with 40d
Just got the 435d because I needed the hatchback. It's glorious.
Looking at them too, sounds like I should hold out for adaptive suspension.

@@Michael-lj3lm It's been brilliant so far. Nice refined cruiser and family car when you need it but properly fast and exhilarating to drive when you want some fun. Too early to say anything about reliability, but so far so good. Advertised MPG is a pure fiction though. Low 30s is realistic for enthusiastic driving unless you do a lot of motorway miles.

Great review, real easy to watch didn't have to skip a second. I have the 335d F31 and I bloody love it! Absolutely rips, and can get dog and bikes etc in the back or on the roof easy as. Would highly recommend this vehicle for fun and practicality! I will get a stage 1 map in the new year and see how she pulls after that...should be scary quick.

Love my 330d XDrive. The perfect all rounder with a decent amount of grunt.
Give it a stage 1 map and remove the dpf
Does it also have the SE suspension because of the x drive?

@abutate999 thanks for the reply. I had a 320d x drive and actually found the ride ok. Big fan of the grip on the x drive, just want a big more power, so looking at getting a 330d x drive next.

Police use 330d because of reliability, ,330d is single twin scroll turbo ,where 335d has two turbos

Couldn't agree more. I'm a 335D owner, it is a weapon. The only thing I dislike is the stance... its far too high on the wheels. Yet the front bumper is low... Lower it and you smash the front end on speed bumps and parking lots!
Best car I ever owned though, until the adaptive LED headlights started failing at 5yr old and parts alone is £1650 for one side, plus fitting which is 3hrs labour at over £140/hr
i have noticed that too. front bumper is really low but the sides and back are high. i'm not gonna lower my car anyway though because it's my daily driver and i want to keep it nice and comfy for longer drives
@sebbekartellen6493 lowering it won't reduce comfort.
The Xdrive variants come from factory with SE suspension instead of the MSport suspension that the rwd variants have.
Difference is around +25mm in ride height.
Changing the standard Bridgestone Potenza S001 runflats for something like a Michelin PS4 will have a much bigger affect on ride quality.
Also the Eibach lowering springs which are 20% stiffer and 20mm lower are incidentally exactly the same as the AC Schnitzer kit that BMW sell, yet they are less than half the price!
Once you get a bmw 3.0 d for your dd, its really hard to go back to anything else.
Theres basically no downsides to the engine
Which model do you have? I'm looking at getting a 330d x drive, but it'd proving hard to find my desired spec within my budget....😅

Its a great car and i honestly dont have many complaints, tho, ive owned it for close to 4 years now so im currently in the process of upgrading to an e92 335d :P

You mentioned this car, an msport model is fitted with se suspension. Is that correct? Do msport models not come with sport suspensions as standard? Also, if that’s the case how does one differentiate between the two by looking? Thanks. Clearly a helpful video. ✌️👍🇬🇧
Yes, for some reason bmw decided to fit SE springs to this as standard on all 335D's. You could get adaptive dampers at the time which helped but it's a very rare option. Best option is to go for an aftermarket suspension system if you want really dialed in handling.
If you get a 330D Msport you get different suspension but on xdrive models it doesn’t come with the MSport suspension.
So do all m sport xdrive models come w/ se suspension? Is it only the m sport sdrive models that come m sport suspension?

335D are the best!! Love mine e90 335d rwd. Thinking to buy a 335d F30.. but it is 4wd.. 2wd is more fun.. any tips or advice?
i’d stick with your e90 unless you want more modern tech on the inside. The e90 335D is just awesome.

i’d say that’s more of a nice to have. Definitely worth getting if you can afford it though.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I've got a 67 plate 335D X drive. I do a mix of higher speed motorway driving and dual carriageways but a lot of the "to work" journeys are on slower B roads with a 30-40mph limit.
I've never seen 50MPG in the 9 months I've owned It and the 24,000 miles I've covered in it. The best I recall seeing is around 39-40MPG as a one-off cruising in eco mode from Ashford to Sidcup on the M20. Mine has had the EGR cooler recall completed months ago.
Still love it to bits but I hear people talking about "40-50 MPG" a lot and I've never seen it go above 40 really. 99% of the time it's between 35 and 38mpg. I even did a trip computer reset so it starts the average calculation again and still didn't get above 38mpg across those 6,000 miles.
I'm on runflat tyres which I plan to change soon, Michelin Primacy 3 on the front and Michelin Pilot Sport 4 Zero Pressure on the rears.
Plan to go to Pilot Sport 4's on all 4 corners within the next few months.
are you driving in comfort/eco mode? If so then there could be something wrong with your car.
@@ParagonCarsLondon I rarely use Eco mode as I find the pedal completely mushy, and to build up speed (ie joining a dual carriageway/motorway) in Eco mode takes forever.
I use comfort mode probably 80% of the time and sometimes put the gearbox into sport mode.
The rest of the time, being every now and then I use sport mode. Usually only for perhaps 10-15 minutes but on the odd drive I'll use it for the majority of the time, depending on the road conditions, traffic and visibility.
My F30 335d is doing around the same as yours i get 38-40 mpg in eco pro average motorway dual carriage ways and town combined driving conservatively , In comfort i get around 35 mpg driving normally , I work it out when if fill up the computer always says it's doing better mpg , I had the same car previously which was stage 1+ remapped that did about the same mpg , Nothing wrong with your car 50 mpg is a fantasy .
@@williamsteventon6191 I actually reset the trip computer (which was working out the average over the 6,500 miles i'd done since last reset).
Since then on a spirited drive I get 35-40mpg easily and on a longer dual carriageway/motorway run at between 70 and 75 I get 42-50mpg.
640d long term average is 37 mpg. maybe 2% is giving it some. 80% motorway. these get nowhere near claimed figures.
You shouldn't be adjusting your seat whilst driving!!! That should be done before you set off!
The manual seats are miles quicker to adjust, I know, as I have a 335d with manual seats. As I am the only driver, electric seats would be a waste of money.
I really want a BMW, is it worth going for a diesel if I only drive 10 mins to and from work everyday?
not if it's a short commute. Doing short commutes in diesels is bad for them as it clogs up the dpf

Waited the whole time to see whether you'd have the same gripe as me - no digital speedo in the centre and the analog dial is too awkward to keep an eye on behind the wheel. I just find the dials nasty to look at and dated looking, this was my feels when I had a 320d, did my head in!

surprisingly reliable and you get around 35mpg driving round town
Carbon build up is a problem . I had to replace the small turbo at 60.000 miles. 34 mpg is about right. I got the F34 so it's bigger. Massive boot and leg room in the back is amazing. Love my car. It's a rocket!
From owning one and planting foot 50% of the time I get about 23mpg

i'm not a big fan of those small 1-series.
i used to own a 2013 m135i though. they are nice quick cars but i prefer the size and style of the 3-series
Stiffer springs aren't as good in this car, be careful if u have some fitted, she lets go on a bumpy bend this heavy car will make u the passenger.
30-70 results prove diesels are about midrange torque not 0-60
The 30-70 sprint has always been a benchmark figure for real world overtaking ability. The mighty Lotus Carlton for instance only had a modest 0-60 figure of 5.1 seconds, but when it was up and rolling and all it's 419 lb of torque was coming in it FLEW. It's 30-70 sprint was measured in Autocar back in the day (@1990) at only 3.8 seconds and was the real measure of this brutal car's performance. And the 335d is in the same supercar league as an overtaking tool. Even more so in wet and damp conditions thanks to it's traction control and X-Drive system.
@@neilmcguinness4422 its hot hatch territory in terms of 30 to 70 i think, the times say that it is Golf R fast 30 to 70 and thats with the 335d having 200nm more torque

@@TG-mt6ke I was surprised to see the Seat Cupra 300 DSG recording a 30-70 time of 3.9 seconds on test. These things are not to be underestimated when up and rolling. In the dry at least.
