  • If you're in need of the metal connector nailer that I used.
Here is the link that I used to buy it through Amazon.

I do have to tell you though. I feel pretty dumb. After I bought it I realized that I could have spent $30 more dollars on ACME Tools website and received a FREE Metabo Cordless Grinder too! That's a $200 tool for FREE!!
Here's the link to that too. I really wish I would have known. I hate wasting money.

I bought my first Hitachi battery tool - an 18 volt grinder - because it was about $50 (on clearance) at Lowe’s. And I’m too cheap to buy the red brand all the time, unless I don’t want to lug around multiple “systems” of tools, batteries and chargers! I liked it so much that now I have MANY Metabo tools - ALL good and most cheaper than the red equivalents! Metabo is the system I lug around… and it’s less a magnet to thieves. 😂

When you open a box and the battery was already attached to the gun. I would have checked to see if the battery was charged. It looked like Amazon sent you a used item. I
I have recently purchased my first metabo hpt nailer and it worked well. Thanks for your review and showing the gun being used on an application it was intended to be used for.

I actually used Metabo tools back in the Netherlands 30 years ago, they are good tools! I bought the 18V framing nailer about two years ago, and love it. Buying the metal connector nailer soon for another large deck job, I've hand hammered thousand of joist hanger nails by hand and getting tired of it!

😃 Great Review Tom! I'm female but awfully handy with a saw and hammer myself. I love watching both you & Dawn. I agree with the one other subscriber... Perhaps submitting your detailed video review to Amazon can earn you some bucks for your trouble. I've heard that they pay out, if the video review is watched. I also agree that perhaps wearing a headlamp LED light might help in those dark nooks. So keep on... Keeping on! You're doing great!

Can you use a head lamp? I find a small LED headlamp really helps in dark places. I've never used this kind of nailer and most of my tools are Dewalt cause it's hard to change when you have a lot of Dewalt batteries like I do. I know someone who is in the process of swithching and has a t-shirt that says "Delwaukee". I appreciate this kind of review and like you I always do research before buying.

I like a practical tool review for sure. Many times tool reviews are people just opening boxes and comparing new unused ones. Drives me nuts.
I want to see a tool put to normal use and it helps a lot knowing if it would be useful to me. I doubt needing this one but when I built some steps I used some metal clips to tie some supports in to stringers and hammering those nails in was awful. I ended up shooting in exterior screws. I don’t do that stuff often. I don’t blame you for buying this tool for that huge job. I would too.

I use both brands. I actually prefer Metabo HPT's framing nailer guns over the Milwaukee which I just sold away just a day ago. Sold it because the darn thing is heavy and it required to be sent out if it's no longer shooting nails deep enough, while you are able to self charge the Metabo HPT with the proper accessories. Glad I got to see the metal connector in this video. When I told one of my framers that they had this in cordless, he did not believe me at all and it's ironic because he uses the one that connects to the air compressor under the same Metabo HPT brand.

  • @christerlundgren3805
    @christerlundgren3805 Před rokem +1

I bought a Dewalt last year, couldnt wait for any other brand to deliver. Sweden is very slow to crank out tools on the market.
Got a surprise, darn gun is awsome. Shot even through the steel of joisthangers. Like to test tools Hard. Recoil increase of course.
Downside is its fiddly close in angles, and with battery its gets heavy after some hours.
So swing around the Gun is needed, and take turns on joistshooting 😊
How many hours saved on a week 😂
And was the cheapest Gun on the market so win win.

Good call on that tool being returned! The new battery comes with the battery protector on it. I've never seen any company ship a tool with the battery on it. I'd wager someone bought it thinking it was the framing nailer and returned it. I've got their framing nailer, it's noticeably lighter than the Milwaukee one. If you want lighter you need to go pneumatic. It's also not really a renovation tool, usually hangers are installed on new construction where you don't have to worry about there being a house on top of you.
Another thing to note, the Metabo tools use a sealed air system instead of a sealed nitrogen system like Milwaukee, so it's easier to service when you need to repressurize the system.

Just built a 20x16 cabin last summer and those hurricane straps were a bear to nail by hand (especially starting the nail-I used needle nosed pliers because fingers got in the way). Took a long time and exhausting-even with 2 people. My forearms and hand were so sore-but at least the framing was below and not overhead.

never thought of a light but that would be handy . i want the short magizine on my positive placement gun . generally in my job i need to get in a lot of tight awkward spaces. for this reason cordless over air house is ideal . not dragging a hose in a crawlspace or attic would be very helpful.

Hi Tom, Nice review. Regarding the cost of the tool. I always look at the time it saves and the wear and tear on body when evaluating the cost. I'm guessing it would you take a full day to nail the ties in by hand, that's 8 hrs @ $50 per hour, that's $400, minus the 1-1/2 hours with the gun, and the time spent doing the research. I would estimate you could take $275 off the cost of the tool that you saved in labor. I think the tool was well worth the cost, especially if you're likely to be doing this again.
PS; my wife says I'm probably related to you, a brother by another mother.🤣
