@@PaulSerat maybe try a different and better playback system for the video it could the that that is not allowing the full quality of rhe video to come through man. Its ultra clear for the most part
I am amazed that you include some classical music. It's rare to see on these vids. Very much appreciated as its pretty much all I listen to. Thaks Terry!
Love your reviews and these demo's outstanding content
These do sound good. Been looking at the Wharfedale 85th anniversary and the AE300 (you just reviewed), as speakers for a bedroom system but now I'm thinking ( hate putting this way ), are these good enough. Your making my choice harder. And I like it. You Sir are a wealth of information. Do appreciate what you do.
Remarkable sound! I have Denton 80ths and 225s, I love them both. I auditioned 4.2s and 85ths. 4.2s just to hollow. the 85ths are a crazy great speaker, too much for my space. These 12.1s have the clarity of the 80ths and the musicality and punch of the 225s. Wharfedale is rockin! Love your Wharfedale videos Terry, thank you.
Los compre, y hace tiempo que no me llevaba gran sorpresa por este precio. Suenan perfectos. Super review
Really awesome sound! Wharfedale made it right for audiophiles and its amazing to listen to them and enjoy the music! 🎶👂😉
I'm convinced that you achieve the best recorded sound on you tube videos than anyone I have ever come across again I have to say absolutely superb job .i cannot believe how good these sound and what you squeeze from them amazing job .i'm lucky enough to have my son home with his girlfriend both are professional musician's so we get or did get to attend lots of live classical events .through headphones on you tube is nothing short of stunning what you produce hats off to you sir .
Thanks very much man really appreciate it
Fleetwood Mac's 'Dreams' track came through with clarity and very detailed, love it. The speaker also works well with modern over produced tracks. Wharfedale simply makes excellent speakers in low to mid priced categories. The Diamond 12.1 are a wonderful revelation. Thanks Terry.
They're so good they expose that overly produced digital French song. That female singer was way too dominating . They need to lean from Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks.
great smooth sound. something you can play in your bedroom for hours and not getting ear fatigue.
Fantastic sound demo 👍
Thanks for the test. Great sound!
Thanks for a demo mate 👍
Thanks for the review, I’m tempted to give the 12.2 a listen
It can't hurt man ;)
Excellent recording even listening to the music on my phone before blue toothing to my amp you can hear the audio quality. 👍
As you say sound quality is out standing for 250 speakers
awesome sounding speakers ... they gave me goosebunps when listening to Feetwood Mac`s "Dreams" and that's exactly what I expect from a good speaker
WOW what a sound on that Fleetwood song.
Great sound. I paired up in 2.1 bi amp set up diamond 220's with a sub. Heaven with a good set of cables
Superb sound demo
Yeah I rung every ounce of performance out of them and pushed them very hard
Nice review and test :-)
I used to be a B&W user, but switched to Wharfedale a while ago. I own a pair of Evo 4.2 for the main speakers and a pair of 12.0 and 11.2 for the master bedroom, which I am now doubting about which pair to keep (can take years to decide). In some ways I really like how the 12.0s perform, as they are really small but superb for their pricepoint and size. It can been marked even as a hidden gem in the series.
In terms of resolution the Evo series win without a doubt but I have the idea that the Diamond 11 and 12 series are quite close in signature to each other, with a little difference in the better dampening of the cabinet of the 12 which results in a bit more expression. The 12 series sound in my opinion a little more in control . But it is really a minor difference. The diamond are great fun speakers.
The Joyce DiDonato sample shows how well these speakers hold it all tightly together a firm grip and control and great timing makes it concert hall reality, of course I have these speakers.
I wasn't expecting that...They do sound really good...
Same and yes they do :) I had them singing
Mate with 10.000 pounds maybe more all speakers sound very good these speakers have to play from 250 pounds to 500 pounds amplifiers and cd players
@@parisstromatias637 I just reviewed 10 different speakers with the same system check out all the different demos its not always the case as you think
Cleanest audio playback on CZcams.
These are beautiful looking speakers and Wharfdale should be proud of what they are producing right now. These diamond's look more expensive than their price tag suggests and put far more expensive speakers to shame. Would love to hear the floorstander versions, so maybe you should do a floorstander test one day Terry 😁
Thinking of adding a pair to my collection to try out
Sounds like a good idea
what A great sound!
Do you think the lota vx sa3 would be a great match with the speakers? Thanks
Why not comapring them with previous generation Diamond 11.1? Personally I would be interested how both stack against each other. Or have you done a review for 11.1? Thanks a ton for the review!
How would you describe the differences (or similarities) between this and the Denton? The Denton 80th is slightly above the 12.1 and I was considering buying. And then there is Denton 85th too !
A superb demo, thanks for uploading it.
In terms of amplifier matching, do you think the Audiolab 6000a would work well with them?
yes and thanks
Hi Terry, your sound demonstrations are great, but, and I'm sure this has been said before, I really think you should demo speakers with equipment in their comparable price range. I don't mean the mic and sound recording equipment you use to make the recordings - we want the best possible recording of the actual performance of the speaker after all - but when we're listening to a £250 speaker it would be more useful to hear that speaker with amp up to say £500 rather than separate power/ pre amp and so on. Just my two cents worth, what do you think?
Developed by Karl Heinz Fink ! Made in Germany!
Wharfdale speakers are getting back to making good speakers again I remember in the old days they made good speakers then in later years they went all crappy good to see them coming back with good models
They have never gone ‘all crappy’.......Peter Comeau is a genius.
They do not sound like £250 speakers. Lively and well balanced.
Yes mate cracking as I have been saying, really cracking
I would suggest pairing them with the Wharfedale SW150 sub (£150 from Amazon). Most impressive for the money.
Holy crap. Have you tried the 12.2s? Are they even better?
happy with my mezzo 2
Hi,those speakers are better then dali zensor 1 ?? Thanks
Hi, I'm suprised with the review and was curious about the sound demo. I'm listening with my beyerdynamic headphone and Shiit dac.
I'm planning of buying these.
Just a question.
What is the height of ur bookshelf stands?
Great job on the video's!
They are 600mm
Hello, what amp/receivers would you recommend to power these bad boys. My budget is $200
Opinions on the 12.4 diamond
I have the 12.2. Wasn’t expecting much but they outgun speakers at three times the price.
hello, for an 5.1 home theater, which one do you prefer ? Dali oberon or wharfedale diamond 12.1 ? They are to 5 stars on whathifi. Thanks
Hi Terry. I Went to town on this demo -- I've just spent around 3 hours:
A. Listening to the Wharfedale 12.1 vs the AE300 on the same track (the DiDonato piece) -- must be at least a dozen times -- via my computer speakers (a pair of Edifier actives).
Conclusion? To my ear the AE300 still sounds better -- more delicate, more expressive, more engaging. But what the heck, at 2.5 times the price, it should. Anyone with only £250 to spend would imho definitely be getting a bargain and I'd say around 80-90% of the performance.
B. I also listened to the DiDonato track, which I now have, on my main home system via my Q acoustics 3020i. Reason? In a very roundabout way, to try to get some kind of comparison with the 12.1. This is going by the comparison you've made with the 3030i, which for my money don't sound as good overall as the 3020i because to my ear, they're disproportionately bass heavy.
BTW, I wish you could have played the DiDonato track on all the speakers in your recent group review to facilitate comparisons. Just a thought -- maybe you'd consider having one or two tracks in common for all sound demos in the future? (not complaining here -- I really, _genuinely_ appreciate what you do and how demanding it must be).
Myself, I'd actually give the 12.1 the edge over the 3030i. Not quite so sure about the 3020i, mind. Maybe one day you'll review and demo the sound of it and I'll be able to get a better, more direct comparison with the 12.1.
C. Watching your, and reading the recent What Hi-fi, reviews.
Conclusion? Your review + the all-important sound demo knock the spots off What Hi-Fi's coverage. Give yourself a well-deserved pat on the back! :-)
D. Being amazed by the Fleetwood Mac track. Apart from "Albatross", I've never heard a track of theirs I've liked. Can't remember if I've heard "Dreams" before, but here it sounds actually quite good.
E. Continuing to regret that there's a Wharfedale-Evo4.2-shaped hole in my listening experiences. Hint, hint... ;-)
If I tend to rabbit on too much, please let me know and I'll try to keep my comments briefer in future. My hope is you'll take it as my way of complimenting and doing justice to your reviews and sound demos... :-)
I know its missing and its coming
Thank you so much.
Comparsion with wharfedale denton 85th?
How do they stack against the 220s
Hi wondering does anybody compare the midd range of wharfedale 12.1 vs Q A concept 20 ? Im looking for a warm fullbodied midd range
Question: Do you know -- or are you able to find out -- why Wharfedale abandoned the down-firing port idea from the 225? I'm very intrigued by that speaker (gently used, obviously) because overall people seem to like it better than the 12.2, as far as I can tell.
How do you think they compare to the Dali Spektor 2s which are on sale for £189 on Amazon. Would love to see your comments. Thanks.
Enjoyable listen - the speakers just disappear. Would love to hear the Evo 4.3 on the end of this great system.
I have an EVO 4.2 demo video in the works :)
Hm..it means that these could win speaker audio mega test? Its very interesting how they compare to wharfedale evo? Thanks for Your hard work.
Regards
They wouldn't win the recent mega test but they would hold their own which is very cool
@@PursuitPerfectSystem How would they compare against the Acoustic Energy AE300 regarding lows, mids, highs? One thing you mentioned is the AE300 can produce a more holographic presentation. Are the 12.1s similar or more a flatter soundstage? Thx.
@Pursuit Perfect System have you reviwed the Mison Lx2's yet ?
Sorry no I havent
@@PursuitPerfectSystem That's okay, i ended up buying some Lx-2's a couple of weeks ago as i was curious about how they would sound. I think they're very nice speakers from their price. Would be interesting to hear your take on them if you get the chnace to review them
Can they stand-out vs elac unify...or elac original debut.. anyone..
How does it compare to B&W 606/607? I have 606. Though thinking about the 12.2s but both (12.1 and 12.2) should sound similar.
The 606 costs more than double what the 12.1 do and they are capable of a better sound overall, a bigger more solid and more lively sound, however the 606 is designed differently its designed with a leaner and faster sound in mind which makes them sound crisper overall but this may or may not be what you want. Recently I did a sound demo of them too. Whats cool about the 12.1 is it gets you close to what the more expensive speakers can do and some people may prefer them depending on all the factors thrown into the mix.
@@PursuitPerfectSystem I really like the 606 (even did a review on them :D) but they have too much harshness in the highest notes and I use NAD C320BEE so definitely not a bright amp! That's said I really dig the vocals, mids and wideness in the soundstage :/
@@MAudiophile the brightness is designed in their freq reponse
How good are 11.1 compared to this ?
An 6.5 inch bass cone would be on the money.
I think you will want the 12.2 then :)
@@PursuitPerfectSystem I didn’t know there was such a thing sir! Thank you, i will go forth and peruse.
@@PursuitPerfectSystem Had a wee look at the 12.2s and on paper the Mission QX 2s just edge the Wharfedales out on frequency response. The MQX2s are going to give a deeper more athletic bass (theoretically) and for less money. Thanks for the tip.
are the wharfedale 12.1 any better than the wharfedale 12.2 ?
No just smaller
man i've watched a few of your sound demos now and I'm convinced now, listening to a variety of tracks, especially Dreams by FM - something in your acoustic room adjustment is killing the freedom of your music in the mid range and sucking the life out of it. ot may be your personal taste as a set up but this is no way to accurately represent any speakers and it deters me from accepting this is the sound we are gonna get
How does it compare to Polk Audio S20 ?
Comparsipn with evo 4.2? Which is better?
Hi check my review main review video for the 12.1 I talk about the EVO 4.2 comparison in this video czcams.com/video/kwtirfyRYAM/video.html
This speaker designed by genius german speaker maker “karl heinz fink” and it was the last freelance job before Fink Team.
KHF is still doing freelance work, he designed the new Castle speakers and was talking about them at the recent Munich high end show.
@@PursuitPerfectSystem Thank you for the information. I like very much KHF's speaker designs. Always makes smooth, effortless and very musical designs.
@@v-twinchannel3978 yes very much knows what he is doing :). He also has brought back the Epos brand and they have new speakers out now/ soon.
@@PursuitPerfectSystem My last question is do you advice the wharfedale diamond 12.1 speaker with 12 watt Class A tube amplifier? And 12.1 wharfedale is good enough for all music genres especially jazz, acoutic, rock and classical music. Thank you for your help i’m your loyal follower and always like your reviews, videos, comments 👍🏻🙋🏻♂️
@@v-twinchannel3978 The Diamond 12.1 works very well with the Class A China Clone JLH 1969! A Dreamteam :-)
