      @@torstenkenning I think it's middle only, I just picked it up... Not sure if it's better than the a6000 kit lens

    The newer version of this lens was my first lens besides the kit and it was so good and so fun to use on an A6000. The only downside is the lack of stabilization, which will come back to bite you if you plan to use it in low light on a non-stabilized body! It also has a pretty loud rattle when you give it a good shake, from what I gathered - it's the focus motor and the noise is perfectly normal

    • @steven2809

    Great review, thanks. I believe that this lens uses CDAF-only out of the box. There is a firmware update that permits it to use PDAF on Sony APSC but only in the center spot, so you end up doing focus and recompose.

    • @artmaltman
      @artmaltman Před 5 lety +2

      Ah, someone mentioned the rattle. This generation of Sigma APSC lens normally have something rattling inside when shaken. Seems like something internal magnetizes during use preventing the rattle. Disconcerting initially but normal. My guess it's the focus motor but I never confirmed this.

    Your reviews are the best! (Not only are you describing the item in question, but you also give a quick comparison to similar alternative items.)
    I'm going to use this on my NEX-VG30 + Rage3 Gimbal for smooth Romantic Portrait videos. (A heavier lens would put the balancing out of bounds).
    🤔 Hmm, maybe I'll go for the lighter Samyang you mentioned.

    This lens needs a version 2 with modern AF and some weather sealing. It is just a slight upgrade away from perfection on Sony APSC.
    I have the 30 and the 19mm. Very pleasing lenses to use, except for the AF. Phase detect only in the middle. Using the camera in AF-A seems to solve the problem.

  • @kaushaltiwari9773
    @kaushaltiwari9773 Před 2 lety

    Sigma needs to re-launch this lens with upgraded AF capability, making full use of the A6400 AF.
    This is the best daytime lens for the Sony APS-C system. I have the 30 f1.4 and 56mm f1.4 as well. The tiny size, sharpness and overall sound performance make it the best fit for the A6400.
    I hope they re-launch it with modern AF and some weathersealing.
