this sounds a bit silly, but i think that was a worse crash than the one that killed him.....

You actually see two crashes here, both Lotuses, both caused by collapsing aerofoils. First, Graham Hill, who somehow was OK. Then Rindt, whose car hit Hill's, causing Jackie Stewart to drive the rest of the race thinking both were dead. Hill helped release Jochen despite petrol flowing everywhere. Rindt soon recovered from his head injuries.

These men back then were great characters. Love the camaraderie among them and the affection they had for each other.

R.i.P. Jochen Rindt and Graham Hill. Both unforgotten and among the all-time greats who raced in the most dangerous era F1 has ever seen.

At 1969 Montjuich was already very dangerous, this accident is scaring, nobody understands how the drivers accepted to race again in Montjuich, six years later the accident of Stommelen some meters before...

in monza he only died because of the´´elastic ´´ effect of the neck , and because of the impact that made his body goes to the front of the car which almost decapited him

Really nasty crash that Jochen was lucky to have only broken his nose & fractured his jaw (along with some severe bruising & concussion too ). He could easily have been killed at that circuit (being the death trap it was in those days ) - unfortunately it was to happen at Monza in Sept 1970 instead. Jochen Rindt was a massive loss to Grand Prix racing & to his many devotees around the planet. RIP JR. Rx
