I do love that horror keeps chugging along regardless of whatever else is going on in Hollywood. No genre has as diverse and interesting a list of upcoming releases, I love that.
For me Terrifier 3, Longlegs, Late Night with the Devil, and Shelby Oaks are at the top of my list. But most of these look interesting, including Ghostbusters, Strangers Chapter 1, and Alien:Romulus. Hopefully it is as good a year as it looks on paper.
The US remake of Speak No Evil is also coming out this year I believe.
Yeah I’m not that excited for that tbh, the original was great. I don’t see the need to readapt it, especially because it’s a film about the cultural differences between the countries.
I hope they change around the story a bit to be in more inline culturally. Keep the same plot and idea but not make them AS passive and overlook things Americans wouldnt
The untitled universal project with Angus Cloud and Melissa Barrera was finally revealed yesterday with it's first trailer and it looks amazing!!! It's called Abigail and is based on a little girl who's both a ballerina and a vampire... very interesting concept 🤔
I'm kinda excited for it, I thought the trailer was pulling off the tone/execution well

I'm super excited for Return to Silent Hill which is directed by Christophe Gans who did the first Silent Hill film in 2006. It's been rumored to be coming out 2024. Here's hoping 🤞

@@spookyastronauts that's valid yeah. I just love the original Silent Hill 1 - 3 games, and I loved Silent Hill 2006 movie. I saw the trailers for return to silent Hill are all over a minute long, and I'm like no thanks I don't want it to be ruined. But yeah I can see how since it's based off Silent Hill 2 game, which it's a great game, but the way they handle some of the subject matter is more outta shock value, and not very well thought out, and if Christophe Gans does any fan service to silent Hill fan base I can see it being a bit questionable. Like silent Hill 2 is great, but it's become a bit overrated with the analysis and dissection of the game that fans have done.
There must be some mix up, because there is no trailer for Return to Silent Hill yet.

I am most looking forward to Smile 2- I hadn’t heard any details about it, so I’m really excited by what you said with the director wanting to make it a whole different film! I do hope Kyle Gallner is brought back in some capacity tho, he is my Scream King of choice lol.

The untitled monster thriller by universal is called “Abigail” trailer was released today.
As usual I will watch most, maybe all of these. Nosferatu seems like a can't miss. Have been waiting for Maxxxine and Shelby Oaks for a while now, looking forward to each. Longlegs looks very fascinating, up my alley. Anything with Lake in the title almost never misses for horror, so Caddo Lake I will be on watch-list too.

The Ghostbusters Frozen Empire trailer instantly felt like it had been heavily influenced by the "Real Ghostbusters" animated series which used to feature Saturday mornings in my childhood.
The entire first season of the Real Ghostbusters cartoon often had a darker tone than most casual fans recall, so I'm really hoping to see this darker influence bleed through into this upcoming film, along with its mysterious villian...
I think Hugh Grant will be good in a horror film cause omgggg his work in The Undoing with Nicole Kidman was sooo good and stomach churning

Late Night With The Devil we saw at the Overlook Film Festival. It was freaking awesome!
I'm looking forward to the auteur projects from Cronenberg, Aronofsky, Flanagan, Del Toro, Eggars; the sequels: Alien Romulus, Maxxxine, Beetlejuice 2, Saw XI; and the originals: Weapons and Handling the undead.

One movie not on the list which I assume will become widely available during 2024 is ”Femme”. One of the best movies I saw during the 2023 festival season. Amazingly tense thriller I would not be surprised if it ends up on many peiples bestof 2024 lists atbthenend of the year.

I'm surprised that you didn't mention In A Violent Nature. I know it's been very secretive and only just recently heard of it, but it's another one which is getting exciting festival energy. From what I've heard it's a Shudder release, form & genre breaking slow-Slasher, filmed as a 3rd person pov, brutal and naturalistic in visual aesthetic.

It's my favorite of John Ajvide Lindqvists books. Very dark, scary and sad. I also think The toxic avenger looks amazing.

I can truly recommend reading Handling the Undead! It's a beautiful, melancholy story about love and grief. Yes, the dead wakes up, but it's nothing like a traditional zombie-story. I love the book, and am super excited about the movie, it feels like they have captured the essence of the book.
I can't believe I'm the most hyped for Caddo Lake considering it takes place in MY HOMETOWN OF SHREVEPORT, LOUISIANA!!!!
