  • Hi folks, I am upgrading my solar workshop with a new inverter and off grid power system. Including new 100ah LiFePo4 lithium ion batteries provided by WattCycle and a new charge controller. The Makeskyblue 60a charge controller does not accept large gauge power cables, so a new method was tested to attach large cables securely. There is footage of the equipment being mounted on the power along with associated commentary. A GoPro camera provides some POV footage along the way.
    The goal is provide off electrical grid power for air conditioning, a video processing computer shop tools and appliances. The system will be further upgraded and expanded in the future. I hope you enjoy this episode, thanks for watching!

    @solarpoweredge Great videos. I wanted to throw an idea at you. You can make plywood fire proof by painting a homemade mixture on it. The mixture is just water and borax.

      @rclewis01 Thank you... I am nervous about the fire risk. Thanks for sharing the knowledge... I've literally never heard of this before. I have some plasterboard but it looks terrible and weighs a ton

    I think the highest efficiency 5000 btu window air conditioner has a 12 ER rating. On really hot days , my HAER 5000 btu unit draws around 580-600 watts but if its only 90 degrees or less outside, it only pulls around 480-500 watts. It would be nice to find a unit that only pulls a max of 450 watts on high setting.

      @davehimlin2374 Wow that's very high, this particular window unit (it's a GE) has never hit close to 600. I believe the max I ever saw was ~480 (this is not including Inverter wasted power) but only when it's very hot outside

    I've heard one politician said what's gonna happen when " a super hail storm hits us, all those panels will be gone!" Yeah, and one day a Sun will burn out for sure but till then stop breathing on our neck, I'm sick and tired of the elite class! Otherwise nice install, i just had to throw in my thought cycle😊!

      @ferencszabo3504 Thanks :) I hope people will keep a couple of spare panels indoors just in case, it's good for preparedness

    Just use a short peice o1/2 inch copper pipe instead of cable

    Thanks for the install walkthrough. Is that Solar Charger making the fan noise at the end or inverter? Working on a small wind generator at the moment.

      @MrRoboto2338 Welcome, It's mostly the solar charger, I am working on a modification right now to quiet it down! Will post video asap

      @@solarpoweredge I mostly use Victron products but do have an EPever 40A that can't seem to find a project home. I am thinking of using it to power my Barn cameras and WiFi with a 100 watt solar and 100A lithium battery.

    Another good video. Do you find that the MPPT you are using is showing higher battery charging current on the display than it actually is when checked with the DC Clamp-on meter?

      @solarpoweredge  Před měsícem

      @budmartin3344 Thank you :) Not much, it's very close, less than an amp difference and varies a little bit
      PS love the cat avatar, I have all rescued / stray cats as well. I greatly appreciate those who adopt and help cats (or any animal). Subbed to your channel

      @@solarpoweredge I love cats, I do volunteer work for Marin Friends of Ferals trapping and neuter/spay cats, the bad part is that I end up keeping them! I have 7 former feral cats right now that decide to be friendly and live with me, It took about a year but they are now happy cats.
